Abstract

The KKNT-55 program is carried out to form students who are tenacious, tough, independent, hardworking, squat, and have an entrepreneurial spirit. In addition, by holding KKNT student activities it is hoped that they will become more sensitive, empathetic, and concerned about humanity and the environment. This KKNT activity was carried out using observation, counseling, training, and question-and-answer methods. Before being officially released to the field on July 18 2023, the executors first conducted a review and observation of the location. After carrying out the review, the implementer then designs the activities or programs that will be implemented in the previously determined village. In its implementation, the implementers mingle directly with the community and also become laypeople to find out what the problems are in the village. Programs that were successfully implemented in the KKNT-55 activities included: "Let's Learn in the Mini Library" activity; Socialization of bullying prevention for elementary school students.

Abstract

This study proposes a fuzzy-Analytic Hierarchy Process (Fuzzy-AHP) model to evaluate teaching quality and predict student academic performance in a Mathematics Education program, based on data collected from 100 undergraduate Mathematics Education students (n = 100). A structured Evaluation Index System (EIS) comprising six criteria and twenty-six sub-criteria was constructed, with criterion weights derived using AHP based on expert judgments and student responses represented as triangular fuzzy numbers. The model produces composite teaching quality scores through fuzzy aggregation and centroid defuzzification, identifying Integration and Relevance of Teaching as the most influential dimension. Predictive validation using Spearman correlation and linear regression confirms a significant positive relationship between teaching quality and academic performance (ρ = 0.46, p < .01), with instructional quality explaining 21% of performance variance. From an applied mathematics perspective, this study contributes a formally structured fuzzy-AHP modelling framework with empirical predictive validation, advancing teaching quality assessment beyond descriptive ranking toward evidence-based performance prediction.

Abstract

This study aims to identify various factors that influence the development of higher-order thinking skills in the Master's program mathematics education department at Universitas HKBP Nommensen. The systematic AHP method allows for accurate weighting and prioritization of various factors influencing HOTS. These results provide a strong foundation for policy recommendations and educational practices aimed at enhancing higher-order thinking skills among outstanding students. The ranking results of the factors influencing HOTS among 100 outstanding students in the Master's program in Mathematics Education were analyzed using the hierarchy of one factor over another. By observing the three criteria and ten sub-criteria, it can be concluded that Criterion 2, or students, is the most influential factor in determining students' HOTS with a weight of 0.53. The second influencing factor is Criterion 1, or lecturers, with a weight of 0.13, and the least influential factor is the learning environment with a weight of 0.07. Matrix interpretation shows that the Lecturer factor (K1) is considered more important than the Student factor (K2) and the Learning Environment factor (K3) in influencing the HOTS of high-achieving students. This highlights how important lecturers are in helping students develop higher-order thinking abilities.

Abstract

Developing literacy skills in children is crucial and needs to be instilled from an early age, as it plays a key role in developing reading skills, understanding information, and fostering learning habits. The church, as a religious institution, not only performs a religious function but also plays a role in supporting the education and development of children. This community service activity aims to improve the literacy of Sunday school children through a reading corner program and short story telling activities at the HKBP Parsaoran Nauli Resort Sola Fide Church. The method used in this activity is an educational mentoring approach implemented through several stages: preparation, implementation, and evaluation. During the preparation stage, observations were made on children's literacy conditions and coordination with church administrators and Sunday school teachers. The implementation stage involved providing a reading corner in the form of a creative wall magazine containing illustrated stories and Bible stories, as well as storytelling activities using interesting props to facilitate children's understanding of the story. Furthermore, the evaluation stage was conducted by observing children's interest, participation, and responses during the activity. The results of the activity showed that providing interactive reading facilities and storytelling activities increased children's interest in reading and helped them understand the story's content and convey the message they received. This program also provided a fun learning experience, making children more active in the learning process. Thus, reading corner and short story activities can be an effective effort to foster a culture of literacy while instilling moral
