Abstract

Abstract

Limited self and environmental awareness makes children vulnerable to abduction; therefore, from an early age they need to be equipped with safety knowledge in line with the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project (P5). This study aims to analyze the application of P5 principles through the AVOID Game project in kindergarten. This study aims to analyze the application of P5 principles in the implementation of the Avoid Game project in kindergarten. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study design. The subjects involved were the principal, teachers, parents, and kindergarten students. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. Data analysis followed Sugiyono’s model, including data collection, data display, data reduction, categorization, and construction. Data validation was conducted using technique triangulation involving interviews, observations, and documentation. The findings indicate that the Avoid Game, when implemented with holistic, contextual, child-centered, and explorative principles, can provide knowledge and understanding of self-awareness, recognizing close and trusted individuals, distinguishing potentially dangerous strangers, as well as responding appropriately and seeking help from safe people or places in risky situations. The novelty of this study lies in the integration of technology-based educational play (the Avoid Game) as a learning medium for implementing P5. Furthermore, this research has implications for learning practices, as it can be used as a variety of play activities that foster independence and support the six domains of child development, including religious and moral values, cognitive, language, motor, socio-emotional, and artistic development, both in extracurricular and intracurricular activities.

Abstract

The increasing number of child abduction cases has raised concerns among parents regarding children’s safety, particularly within school environments. Early childhood is especially vulnerable to abduction due to limited knowledge and understanding of how to recognize and respond to dangerous situations. This study aims to develop and examine the effectiveness of the AVOID Game as a technology-based educational medium for preventing child abduction in early childhood. The study employed Research and Development (R&D) with a simplified Borg and Gall model consisting of six stages. The participants included school principals, teachers, parents, and early childhood students. Data were collected through interviews, observations, literature reviews, and questionnaires, and analyzed using both qualitative and quantitative techniques. The findings revealed that the AVOID Game was considered feasible as an educational medium based on validation results from material experts (89.2%) and media experts (82.6%). Field trials indicated an improvement in children’s knowledge and understanding of abduction prevention, as reflected in the increase from a pretest score of 74.29 to a posttest score of 84.46. The study concludes that the AVOID Game is effective as an educational medium for preventing child abduction in early childhood while providing an engaging and enjoyable learning experience. The implications highlight the potential of the AVOID Game to be widely implemented as a preventive, technology-based learning strategy.

Abstract

Abduction is an event that has long-term impacts on its victims, such as trauma, stress, and confusion, and children are no exception. To prevent children from becoming victims again, an effective effort is to provide knowledge about abduction. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of the AVOID game on children's knowledge about abduction prevention at TK ABA Danunegaran. The design used is a pre-test and post-test with a sample of 28 children. Furthermore, for data analysis techniques, the Wilcoxon test was used. The results showed that the Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) value was 0.000 < 0.05, thus it can be concluded that there is a significant effect of the AVOID game on children's knowledge about abduction prevention. This study is limited to the number of samples and specific context, so further research is recommended to validate and test the long-term impact of the game on children's knowledge.

Abstract

Early childhood literacy is a fundamental skill in developing language skills, critical thinking, communication, and understanding context. However, PISA results indicate that early childhood literacy in Indonesia remains low, while the literature synthesis on how literacy is implemented in contextual and sustainable early childhood education (PAUD) settings is very limited. Therefore, this study aims to analyze research trends in the application of literacy in the PAUD environment through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) study using a modified SLR protocol. The main database used by Google Scholar involves 21 articles published between 2017 and 2025, and analyzed thematically. The findings show that implemented literacy in early childhood education of Indonesia includes reading, writing, and storytelling skills, it implies that the concept of literacy need to be expanded. Another finding is that parents play a role in building a culture of literacy. This study recommends for a broad mastery of literacy skills to create more appropriate literacy learning in Indonesian context. It also encourages teachers to develop children's literacy skill through more various attractive activities.
