Abstract

AbstractThe purpose of this study is to investigate the differences of job stress based on gender among correctional officers in three prisons in Java Indonesia. This study was a quantitative survey study focused on the comparison between male and female. The data were collected from 95 correctional officers from Bandung and Semarang prisons. The analysis of variance test (ANOVA) was used to test the study hypotheses. The results show that gender variable has influences on job stress, in which female correctional officers have higher job stress level than male correctional officers. Keywords: gender, job stress, correctional officers

Abstract

AbstractBackground of the high rate of unemployment from SMK graduates supposed by lack of job readiness due to lack of career maturity. This study aims to determine differences in career maturity among Vocational High School (SMK) Students by gender and study major. Career maturity is the individual’s success in completing tasks typical career development ateach stage of development which is shown by the behavior of individual career conformity with the career expected behavior. Subjects numbered 339 class XI student of SMK, from six vocational schools in Semarang consisting of three state SMK and three private SMK. Subjects consist of 101 male and 238 female with around 15-19 years old. Sampling technique used is purposive sampling. Intrument that used in this study is the CareerMaturity Scale and demographic questionnaire. Results of this study by two way ANAVA showed no differences in career maturity in terms of gender and no differences career maturity based on major. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan kematangan karier ditinjau dari jenis kelamin, jurusan dan status sekolah pada siswa Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan (SMK) di KotaSemarang. Kematangan karier adalah keberhasilan individu dalam menyelesaikan tugas perkembangan karir yang khas di setiap tahap perkembangan yang ditunjukkan dengan kesesuaian perilaku karir individu dengan perilaku karir yang diharapkan. Subjek penelitian berjumlah 339 siswa kelas XI SMK dari enam SMK di Kota Semarang yang terdiri dari tigaSMK Negeri dan tiga SMK Swasta yang terdiri dari 101 laki-laki dan 238 perempuan dengan usia subjek berkisar antara 15-19 tahun. Terdapat sepuluh jurusan peminatan yang terlibat dalam penelitian ini Teknik sampling yang digunakan adalah purposive sampling. Alat ukur yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Skala Kematangan Karier dan kuesioner data demografi. Hasil pengujian hipotesis menggunakan ANAVA dua jalur menujukkan tidak ada perbedaan kematangan karier ditinjau dari jenis kelamin dan tidak ada perbedaan kematangan karier ditinjau dari jurusan. Diskusi dan rekomendasi di bahas selanjutnya.Kata Kunci : jenis kelamin, kematangan karier, smk

Abstract

This research aimed to examine the effectiveness of coping technique in reducing working stress. The reduced level of stress was expected to make more optimal performance. Subject consisted of 20 correctional officers, which were divided into two groups. 10 officers were in experimental group, which were trained with coping technique, and the other ten belonged to control group. The research used quasi-experimental design with control group that was untreated at pretest-posttest. Working stress was measured with a scale in which each subject in both groups filled the work stress scale before and after treatment. Data analysis using the Mann Whitney U- test indicated that there was a significant effect of the application of coping technique as an alternative solution to reduce the level of working stress of the correctional officers (U=20.00; p=0.023

Abstract

The laughter yoga therapy is a physical exercise technique that combines yoga breathing techniques, fitness exercise, laughter, applause rhythmic movements, and meditation. The purpose of this study was to test the effect of laughter yoga therapy to reduce work stress levels on military pilots of Indonesian army in Semarang, Central Java. A quasi-experimental pretest-posttest control group design was applied. Subjects comprised 10 military pilots of Indonesian army in Semarang which were compared to 10 military pilots that served ascontrols. Data were collected using the Work Stress Scale (26 items; α= .902). The t-test results showed a significant reduced work-stress level after the laughter yoga therapy was applied (t(16.025)=-8.471; p=.00; p<.001).

Abstract

Correctional officers encounter vulnerable working conditions that may cause psychological discomfort at work. This study aims to determine the role of work-family balance, and quality of life to happiness at work in female correctional officers. The subjects in this study were 87 female correctional officers from three correctional institutions in Semarang and Malang. The age of subjects ranged from 22 - 57 years (Mage = 41.80); and the work period of the subjects ranged from 3-34 years (Mtenure = 18.80). The sampling technique used was convenience sampling. Instruments that used for data collection were demographic data questionnaires, Work-Family Balance Scale (32 items; α = .898), WHOQOL-BREF Scale (26 items; α = .906), and Happiness at Work Scale (22 items; α = .801). Data analysis using multiple regression analysis show there a positive and significant correlation between work-family balance and happiness at work (r = .613; p <.001), there was a positive and significant correlation between quality of life and work happiness (r = .394; p <.001), furthermore work-family balance and quality of life together can predict happiness at work in female correctional officers (r = .633; R2 = .401; F = 28.115; p <.001). Work-family balance and quality of life effectively contributed 39.7%  to predicting happiness at work in female correctional officers.

Abstract

Happiness at work is one of important aspects need to be developed by individuals from any kind of profession. One of those profession is lecturer. Lecturer with happiness at work tends to be more productive and produce new and innovative ideas. This study aims to understand career happiness plan profile among lecturers. A descriptive study was conducted on 13 lecturers. Developmental goals measurment called Career Happiness Plan was used in this study to give information about factors contributed to lecturers’ happiness as well as information about how lecturers cope with stress, crisis, and change or challenge situation at workplace. The result showed that factors affected happiness on lecturers were relationship to others, full engagement, meaning finding (spirituality), and career development.

Abstract

Character strength becomes a major issue in positive psychology research. In the positive psychology, the thing that takes precedence is how to make individuals with all their potential better and develop as optimally as possible. Students who excel are individuals with high achievement motivation, strive to determine specifics goals, use strategic steps, are high-willed, and always work hard to achieve the goals and objectives set. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of Career Happiness Plan training to improve character strength (virtue) as working capital for students. The subjects in this study were 54 students of the Faculty of Psychology, Diponegoro University. Using random assignment technique, subjects were divided into two groups, which consisted of 27 students in the experimental group (8 males; 19 females) and 27 students in the control group (10 males; 17 females). Data were collected through The Values in Action-Inventory of Strenghts (VIA-IS). The results of the t-test on the posttest data between the experimental group and the control group showed a significant difference (t = 2.113; df = 52; p = .039; p <.05). The experimental group had a higher positive character level (M = 487.78; SD = 38.41) than the control group (M = 462.11; SD = 50.07). This explains that the research hypothesis (Ha) is accepted, Career Happiness Plan training can be used to improve character strength (virtue) in students.

Abstract

Kesuksesan secara psikologis seperti merasakan kepuasan, kenyamanan dan kebahagiaan dalam bekerja dibutuhkan oleh setiap pekerja, akan tetapi dalam kenyataan banyak pekerja yang mengalami stres kerja. Salah satunya  pegawai PT. Kereta Api bagian SDM DAOP IV Semarang yang memiliki tuntutan harus menangani masalah-masalah pengembangan sistem dan tata kelola ketenagakerjaan di perusahaan. Penanganan stres dapat menggunakan terapi tawa, yaitu metode terapi dengan humor dan tawa untuk membantu individu menyelesaikan masalah dan gangguan fisik maupun mental. Sampling yang digunakan adalah sampling jenuh, yang melibatkan 36 orang karyawan. Analisis data penelitian menggunakan statistik nonparametrik Mann-Whitney U-Test. Terlihat bahwa nilai p hitung berdasarkan statistik z adalah 0,000 yang lebih kecil dari taraf nyata (p<0,05). Hal ini menunjukkan data posttest antara kelompok eksperimen dan kelompok kontrol memiliki perbedaan yang signifikan, dengan demikian hipotesis penelitian dapat diterima.Kata Kunci: stress kerja, terapi tawa, karyawan

Abstract

AbstractLupus is a chronic, autoimmune disease in which an abnormal immune system can cause inflammation on several organ or body systems. The risk of mortality rate caused by Lupus is high and late diagnosis is also prevalent which impact the psychological aspect of individual affected with Lupus (so-called Odapus). Therefore, resiliency is needed; that is individual ability to survive and keep optimistic attitude towards recovery. This study aims to describe the resiliency of the affected individuals with Lupus. This is a qualitative study. Eight persons affected with Lupus who were still coping with Lupus participated in this study. The results indicated that subjects developed a negatives constructs to adapt with Lupus. Therefore, psychological intervention is needed to improve their resiliency.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara kebahagiaan di tempat kerja dengan kepuasan kerja. Subjek penelitian adalah perawat bagian rawat inap RSI Sultan Agung Semarang. Kebahagiaan di tempat kerja adalah perasaan karyawan berupa dapat menikmati pekerjaan dan perasaan senang berada di lingkungan kerja, baik secara individu maupun kelompok yang dapat meningkatkan kinerja karyawan. Sedangkan kepuasan kerja adalah sikap mengenai pekerjaannya sendiri yang dilihat melalui berbagai aspek pada industri atau organisasi yang diperoleh melalui evaluasi kinerjanya. Sampelmenggunakan teknik Cluster Random Sampling. Jumlah sampel sebanyak 143 perawat. Pengumpulan data dengan menggunakan dua skala model Likert yaitu Skala Kebahagiaan di Tempat Kerja (52 aitem) dan Skala Kepuasan Kerja (33 aitem). Analisis data menggunakan analisis regresi sederhana menunjukkan nilai koefisien korelasi sebesar rxy=0,178 dengan nilai p= 0,033 (p<0,005). Hasil menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan positif antara kebahagiaan di tempat kerja dengan kepuasan kerja pada perawat bagian rawat inap RSI Sultan Agung Semarang. Kebahagiaan di tempat kerja memberikan sumbangan efektif sebesar 3,2% terhadap kepuasan kerja. Kata Kunci : kebahagiaan di tempat kerja, kepuasan kerja,  perawat bagian rawat inap
