Abstract

Online learning conducted in some university  as a result of the COVID 19 pandemic can be said to be a fairly new learning model. It is necessary to know the students’ perception toward the online learning. Therefore, this quantitative and qualitative descriptive study aimed at describing students’ perceptions of online learning based on their experiences in participating in the online model learning and how the online learning meet their learning needs and expectations. Questionnaires given to 142 students at the Faculty of Information Technology in a private university in Central Java  were used to collect data, besides interviews and focus group discussion also employed for deeper understanding of student experiences in online learning. The results showed that there was a positive response from students towards online learning. The online learning that had been implemented could accommodate most of students’ learning needs and expectations. However, this was strongly influenced by the role of the lecturer in organizing and packaging the online learning. In addition, it required habituation and the ability of students to study independently. The existence of a learning community in online learning was also a factor that can support students’ success in participating at the online learning. Technical problems in form of equipment availability and inadequate internet access were the main obstacles in the implementation of online learning. Hopefully, the research results can be used to improve and develop an effective online learning in higher education in the future.

Abstract

Having the belief of being competent in the subject area during the years of training are essential aspect for pre-service teachers. It will benefit them not only during their training or study but also when they are in their teaching duty.  It tries to look at how the ICT pre-service teachers look at their own ability in relation to their professional competence which is Informatics Engineering and Computer subjects. This is a preliminary study in an effort to investigate pre-service teachers during their teacher education training. By looking at their self-efficacy in relation to their professional competence, recommendation could be made for future reference. This study employs quantitative method by using questionnaire for its data collection. It involves 130 pre-service teachers in their training. The result of the study shows that the dimensions of self-efficacy explored in this study show high interval for all three dimensions; its level, strength, and generality. This reflects that those pre-service teachers have high self-efficacy when they are attending the professional competence courses. This condition reflects that they will likely to be successful in carrying out their teaching duty provided they consistently have the high self-efficacy. Finally, some recommendations for further study are made so that this area could be more thoroughly explored.

Abstract

The priority problems to be solved in this service include two problems. The first problem is that the Teaching Modules prepared by teachers in partner schools are not innovative. The second problem is that learning practices have not applied learning technology according to the demands of 21st century learning, so they are unable to achieve student's learning surplus. The first solution is to conduct workshops to improve teachers' insights and skills about the urgency of lesson plans in learning, learning components, designing innovative learning models, developing learning videos, and conducting peer teaching. The second solution, through learning (realteaching) in the classroom using innovative Teaching Modules that have been prepared with technology assistance according to the demands of 21st century learning. This PkM method uses a continuous workshop model. Data collection instruments used tests and interviews. The data analysis technique uses descriptive percentage and categorical techniques. The results of PkM stated that the competence of elementary school teachers in the Kenanga Cluster in preparing Innovative Teaching Modules assisted by 21st century learning technology was in the good category. Learning practices using innovative teaching modules have an impact on the growth of student's learning surplus

Abstract

Designing lessons is an integral part of teacher practice. With the implementation of the national curriculum based on the emancipated curriculum, teachers are given the freedom to develop learning tools according to the needs and characteristics of students in their respective schools. However, in reality, it is more challenging than imagined in the field. Teachers still need help in developing teaching modules independently. Therefore, this community service activity aims to empower teachers using technology in the form of a module generator application that can assist teachers in developing learning tools in the form of teaching modules according to the subjects they teach. This PkM activity is carried out in 4 stages, starting from socialization to program sustainability. The target partners of this activity are teachers in two elementary schools in Boyolali District. The results of this activity were that 15 participants managed to develop teaching modules independently. In addition, teachers' understanding of the concept of pedagogy and innovative learning models in target partners also increased to 81%
