Abstract

Abstract

The Garbage Bank is a strategy for implementing the Reduce, Reuse, Recycle (3R) principles in waste management in society. Airlangga University through the community program held a Garbage Bank activity located in RT 20 Tanah Kali Kedinding Village. This activity was attended by ten participants from housewives in the area. Since 2020, the Garbage Bank in this area has been carried out, however it still needs a follow-up community service programs so that the Garbage Bank becomes more representative and productive. The Surabaya City Government's policy that prohibits the use of plastic bags in shops/malls provides an opportunity for the Kali Kedinding Land Waste Bank Manager to process inorganic waste into useful and economically valuable items such as shopping bags. In this regard, housewives as waste bank managers also have a strong will to manage inorganic waste. However, there are several problems related to the development of expertise in making shopping bags from inorganic household waste. Not all housewives have a good understanding of using inorganic waste and processing it into shopping bags that have a sale value. Based on these problems, this community service program is directed at providing training on sewing bags from inorganic household waste, training on selling products online through marketplaces, training on business financial management, and training on business organizational governance. The training was conducted in four meetings with a different topic each week. It is hoped that this program can increase awarness about waste management and improve the community's economy.  This is in accordance with the indicators of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), namely increasing economic growth, productive employment opportunities, and decent work for the community, and focusing on the efficient use of resources, minimizing waste, and increasing the production of recycled waste in the environment.

Abstract

Stunting is a major nutritional problem caused by many factors such as socio-economic conditions, birth order, maternal nutrition during pregnancy and lack of nutritional intake for babies. In the case of East Java, one of the districts that has a higher stunting rate compared to the provincial and national levels in 2021 is Mojokerto Regency, especially in Kuripansari Village, Pacet District. As an effort to overcome this problem, outreach and training activities were carried out regarding the processing of superfood wild plants, namely plants or food that have a high nutritional density, are easy to find and have no economic value, as an alternative to help meet the nutritional needs of pregnant women and toddlers as well as to reduce the risk of stunting. The targets of the socialization and training program for processing wild superfood plants are PKK women (Family Welfare Programme) and elementary school children in Kuripansari Village. For PKK women, the activities carried out include the introduction and processing of superfood wild plants to enrich the availability of affordable side dishes and delicious, highly nutritious food at the household level. In elementary school children, activities carried out include socialization about nutrition and the introduction of superfood wild plants as alternative healthy and nutritious foods or snacks. The expected target is that the community can know the types of superfood wild plants and can use them to meet their nutritional needs. The results of the activities show that the outreach and training carried out have helped increase the participants' knowledge and skills in processing wild superfood plants. The advice given in this activity is the need for further assistance in the processing of superfood wild plants so that it not only has an impact on nutritional problems and stunting, but can also have an impact on the community's economy through activity development programs, for example in the form of cultivation and marketing of superfood wild plant food products. as well as educational tourism activities.

Abstract

Kuripansari Village, situated on the slopes of Mount Arjuno, possesses significant natural and cultural potential for development as an environmentally based tourism village rooted in local wisdom. However, its development has not yet been carried out in a structured and contextually appropriate manner. Through a community service initiative, a series of awareness-building and village potential mapping activities were conducted using a participatory and educational approach to foster public engagement in shaping the direction of tourism development. The program featured speakers from local communities and village youth, who presented materials on tourism management, the nutritional value of wild edible plants, and community empowerment. The results indicated a high level of enthusiasm among participants and growing awareness of the village's unique assets, particularly in developing educational tourism based on the use of wild plants. In addition to the outreach activities, a greenhouse facility was established to support both cultivation and education. This initiative serves as a foundational step toward developing a contextual, sustainable, and community-driven tourism model.
