Abstract

Tari Pecut is a traditional dance that is part of the Karapan Sapi performing arts in Madura Island. This dance symbolizes courage, warrior spirit, and the uniqueness of Madurese culture. This study aims to explore the symbolic meanings of costumes and props in Tari Pecut and analyze how the dance represents Madurese culture using Charles Sanders Peirce’s semiotic approach. Employing a descriptive qualitative method, data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed based on the concepts of sign, object, and interpretant. The findings are expected to provide a deeper understanding of Tari Pecut as a manifestation of Madurese culture and reveal the values, norms, and cultural experiences embedded in its elements.

Abstract

Indonesia's diverse religious landscape, notably Islam, often grapples with extremism, contributing to socioeconomic disparities and a tarnished perception of faith. Such extremism poses a threat to national unity and the well-being of youths. In countering this trend, fostering religious moderation emerges as a pivotal strategy, discouraging the glorification of extreme doctrines. Education emerges as a crucial tool in instilling religious moderation values. This study investigates how religious moderation values integrate into English teaching settings. This study employed qualitative research. It involved three levels of Islamic institutions: Islamic elementary school (madrasa ibtidaiya), Islamic junior high school (madrasa tsanawiya), and Islamic senior high school (madrasa aliya) in Ponorogo. The researchers collected the data through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The data, then, was evaluated thematically. This study revealed that religious moderation values were instilled into the lesson plans, learning materials, teaching-learning activities, and assessments in the English language teaching classroom.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merevitalisasi Wisata Alam Kolam Renang Kucur Aren sebagai upaya dalam mengembangkan daya tarik wisata di Desa Wonokerto Kecamatan Wonosalam Kabupaten Jombang. Dalam pengembangan pariwisata di Indonesia, tentunya terdapat dampak positif terhadap lingkungan sekitar wisata yang dikembangkan. Keberadaan Sektor wisata tentu memiliki peranan yang signifikan dalam meningkatkan pendapatan daerah, serta meningkatkan kesejahteraan masyarakat. hal ini mengakibatkan pengembangan pariwisata menjadi penting dalam menggerakkan perekonomian daerah serta dapat menjadi wadah terciptanya lapangan pekerjaan. Wisata Alam Kucur Aren merupakan sebuah wisata yang berlokasikan di Desa Wonokerto, Kecamatan Wonosalam, Kabupaten Jombang. akan tetapi Wisata Kolam Renang ini sempat sempat mengalami krisis saat munculnya pandemi Covid-19, akibat rendahnya wisatawan mengakibatkan wisata ini terbengkalai. solusi yang ditawarkan yakni melakukan revitalisasi dan upaya pembabatan tanaman liar di area kolam renang, serta penambahan fasilitas pendukung dan penunjang. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Community Based Participatory Research (CBPR) yang melibatkan masyarakat sebagai mitra dan menekankan nilai-nilai transformasi sosial, kolaborasi, dan pemberdayaan masyarakat.

Abstract

The use of technology in this era is useful, especially in teaching speaking. This study aims to describe the implementation of the SAVI (Somatic, Auditory, Visual, Intellectual) approach through YouTube videos in teaching speaking. It’s also revealing students' perceptions of the implementation of the SAVI approach in teaching speaking. This study employed a qualitative descriptive method. The data were gathered through classroom observations, questionnaires, and semi-structured interviews with teachers and students. It involved 30 students of the eleventh grade of SMAN 1 Slahung and one teacher. The data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, which involves data reduction, data presentation, and verification. The results showed that the implementation of SAVI through YouTube videos gradually blended movement, hearing, implementation, and reasoning so that learning was more interactive and student-centered and facilitated comprehension before speaking practice. Students rated this approach as helpful and enjoyable. Dealing with the students’ perceptions, they said they are more motivated, actively participating, enriching vocabulary, improving pronunciation, and more confident. The auditory and visual aspects were considered the most helpful, while the somatic supported engagement and intellectually strengthened the analysis. SAVI's approach through YouTube videos helps speaking skills and can be a reference for teachers in designing more interactive and contextual learning.

Abstract

Stunting is a condition in which children under five years of age or toddlers experience growth failure caused by a lack of nutrition received by the fetus/infant. The condition of children who are stunted can be seen from their height which is below the height standard for their age, their bone growth is below the high standard for their age, their bone growth is delayed and their body weight is low for their age. The purpose of doing community service is to apply scientific theories in the health sector to overcome problems that occur in the field so that they can benefit the community, actively participate in the health development process, increase community empowerment in the health sector, increase the ability of the academic community to apply theories science both independently and in groups, helping to overcome problems faced by the government and society with practical scientific methods. Following up on the problems found in Sinarmukti Village, Baros District, Serang Regency, where stunted toddlers were found, it is necessary to carry out health education about stunting, the impact and prevention of stunting by evaluating anthropometric measurements of toddlers and providing pumpkin tray cakes to improve nutrition in toddlers. Service implementation activities run smoothly. Out of the 17 toddlers who took part in the activity, there were 29.4% (5) of them who were stunted. The community is very enthusiastic and appreciates this activity, because they know the importance of maintaining nutrition, growth and development of their toddlers. The strategy to improve nutrition for toddlers is to take advantage of the abundant natural resources in the area, this time by consuming pumpkin trays and increasing parental knowledge in maintaining children's nutrition, growth and development. Abstract

The objective of study is to explore the relationship between visual and verbal elements within the frame of multimodal discourse analysis in Madura tourism promotion. Promotion in the form of moving images with verbal language makes it easier for readers and potential tourists to see tourist attractions more closely and realistically. This study is descriptive qualitative using 3 videos of Madura tourism promotion, in particular tourism promotions of Bangkalan, Pamekasan, and Sampang regencies on Madura Island, Indonesia. Only scene representing religious tourism as the data of this study in which there are 8 data of religious tourism images. There are two parts of data analysis: visual and verbal analyses.  Visual semiotic mode of scenes and images were analyzed using visual grammar by Kress and van Leeuwen (2006).  In addition, verbal data are all of utterances generated during the scenes and the still images were analyzed based on appraisal framework by Martin and White (2005) especially on the attitude system.  Results show that tourism promotional videos use more than one mode of communication or semiotic system elements to create meaning through representational and interactive structures, compositional meanings, and verbal language.  All of the compositions can come together to create messages to the public, in this case information about tourist attractions and their locations that represent the religiosity of Madura.

Abstract

Abstrak Badan usaha milik Desa (BUMDes) ini adalah salah satu lembaga/badan perekonomian desa yang berbadan hukum dibentuk dan dimiliki oleh Pemerintah Desa yang bergerak di bidang sosial dan ekonomi serta sebagai penyedia layanan terhadap masyarakat desa utamanya mengenai bidang usaha. Pengelolaan dilakukan secara ekonomis dengan mengajak para masyarakat yang berprofesi sebagai UMKM untuk ikut dalam program wisata kuliner yang akan diselenggarakan di BUMdes sagalaherang kidul, program ini dilakukan untuk dapat memajukan BUMdes sagalaherang kidul dan dapat membantu meningkatkan perekonomian masyarakatat sekitar. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif dan fokus penelitiannya adalah:1). Manfaat pengembangan Badan Usaha Milik Desa sagalaherang kidul melalui program desa wisata kuliner, 2). Pengaruhnya terhadap masyarakat sebelum dan sesudah dilakukannya revitalisasi Badan Usaha Milik Desa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan yang lumayan signifikan. Kata kunci : BUMdes, Desa Wisata, UMKM, Sagalaherang Kidul, ekonomi Abstract This Village-Owned Business Entity (BUMDes) is one of the village economic institutions/bodies which is a legal entity formed and owned by the Village Government which operates in the social and economic fields and as a service provider to village communities, especially regarding the business sector. Management is carried out economically by inviting people who work as MSMEs to take part in the culinary tourism program which will be held at BUMdes Sagalaherang Kidul. This program is carried out to advance BUMdes Sagalaherang Kidul and can help improve the economy of the surrounding community. The research method used in this research is qualitative research with a descriptive approach and the research focus is: 1). Benefits of developing Sagalaherang Kidul Village Owned Enterprises through the culinary tourism village program, 2). The influence on the community before and after the revitalization of Village-Owned Enterprises. The results of the research show a quite significant increase. Abstract

AbstractThis research aims to determine the role of QuillBot as one of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in enhancing students’ writing skills. Artificial Intelligence (AI) is an advanced technology that can make a person's work easier. AI has a significant impact in various fields, such as education. Therefore, AI technology can assist students in completing their assignments. One such application is QuillBot, which aids students in improving their English writing. This research employed qualitative research using a questionnaire distributed via Google Forms. The findings indicate that Quillbot is beneficial for the students. It improves their paraphrasing skills, grammar, and vocabulary. This article is essential because readers can learn about the usefulness of AI applications, especially QuillBot, in writing English. Abstract

In recent years, blended learning has been utilizing in a variety of contexts. It emerges as one of the most popular pedagogical approaches which integrate face-to-face classes with the virtual learning environment. It offers learners considerable resources and materials. Many researchers have reported on it since it thrived. It offers learners flexibility. It also gives the learners choices about when and where they learn and participate in online learning. Therefore, it is used for teaching and training worldwide since many researchers found it an effective way to be used in the teaching-learning process. It is believed to enhance learners' understanding of learning a foreign language. Some researchers also found that blended learning affects learners' self-efficacy stronger than the other instructional modes. This study employed qualitative research. It was used to determine how blended learning was applied in a class to boost learners' self-efficacy. In conclusion, the developments of technology recently encourage educators to apply a blended learning environment in the classroom. One of the important things is how it should be implemented to help the learners develop their self-efficacy and achieve their academic goals.

Abstract

The post-Covid-19 outbreak exposes vulnerabilities in the educational system. The learning process shifts from online to blended learning. This article aims to describe the process of adapting blended learning for English education students. This article discusses the process of applying blended learning to English education students, the difficulties of doing so, and the impact on students who learn using blended learning at IAIN Ponorogo. This research was conducted on 6th-semester English education students at IAIN Ponorogo. The findings of this study show that the lectures were conducted in blended learning in the English education department at IAIN Ponorogo. The students said that blended learning helps them to understand the material easily. The finding of this study also revealed a positive impact experienced by students. Adaptive blended learning provides the students with new experiences as it combines virtual face-to-face learning and classroom interaction.
