Abstract

The sharp decline in the volume and value of marine fisheries production at the Belawan Ocean Fishing Port (PPS) over the past three years indicates a structural crisis that requires values-based solutions. This study aims to formulate a strategy for developing the marine fisheries industry through a maqasid al-syariah approach as the foundation for equitable and sustainable economic development. The method used is a qualitative descriptive technique with semi-structured interviews with fisheries business actors, followed by a SWOT analysis to identify internal and external factors in the industry. The results indicate weak business capacity due to limited fishing gear, access to capital, and digital literacy, despite the potential for significant resources and government support. The development strategy formulated includes strengthening sharia institutions, technological modernization, Islamic value-based training, and marine environmental preservation, which are aligned with the six dimensions of maqasid al-syariah: protection of religion, life, mind, descendants, property, and the environment. This approach is considered capable of providing a strategy that is not only economically viable, but also ethical, inclusive, and sustainable..Keywords: Belawan Islamic Economym, Fishing Industry, Maqasid al-Shariah

Abstract

This study basically wants to see further how Smart IB savings and time deposits affect net income at PT Bank Sumut KCP Syariah Multatuli during the period 2021 to 2024. This interest arises because the bank's net profit is seen to fluctuate from time to time, while the third-party funds raised also undergo changes, not always consistent. To study it, a quantitative approach using causal associative research design is used, which is suitable for reading the cause-and-effect relationships between variables. The analyzed Data came from monthly financial statements for four years, totaling 48 samples. You could say that the data is representative enough to capture the patterns that occur, although of course there are still limits. The analysis process is carried out in stages, ranging from descriptive statistics for the general picture, followed by classical assumption tests, to multiple linear regression. In addition, partial test or t test, simultaneous test or F test, and coefficient of determination R2 are all processed using SPSS. Interestingly, the results showed that partially Smart IB Savings did not have a significant effect on net income. In contrast to other variables, deposits have been shown to have a noticeable effect, but in a negative direction. That is, an increase in deposits tends to be followed by a decrease in net income. However, when viewed together, Smart IB savings and fixed deposits have a significant effect on the bank's net profit. Sourced Adjusted R Square value obtained as much as 0.113, it can be interpreted that the two independent variables are only able to explain about 11.3% change in net income, while the other largest proportion is determined by variables that are not classified with this model. This finding indicates that the increase in third party funding is not certain to increase profitability if it is not adjusted to optimal financing management and operational efficiency. The results of this study are expected to be a reference, both scientifically and operationally, especially for decision makers in managing funds in the Islamic banking environment at the regional level. Abstract

The merger of three state-owned Islamic banks into Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) is a strategic move to strengthen the national Islamic banking industry. However, previous studies have largely focused on financial performance and competitiveness, while research on the merger’s impact on employee work culture and customer service quality at the branch level remains limited, particularly in Mandailing Natal Regency. This study aims to analyze the impact of the BSI merger on employee work culture and customer service quality at BSI Mandailing Natal. This study employs a qualitative approach using the case study method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and observations from 5 informants comprising BSI employees and customers selected using purposive sampling. The results of the study indicate that the BSI merger has driven changes in work culture toward a more dynamic, fast-paced, integrated, and digitally oriented environment. Employees are required to enhance their adaptability, product knowledge, and service competencies. From a service perspective, the merger has improved access to services through the development of BSI Mobile, the expansion of the ATM network, and the simplification of digital transactions. Nevertheless, during the transition period, challenges were still encountered, including account migration processes, digital system disruptions, and limited access to services for some customers. This study concludes that the BSI merger has had a impact on the transformation of work culture and the improvement of customer service quality. These findings contribute to the development of research on post-merger organizational integration in Islamic banking and provide insights for BSI management in strengthening digital transformation strategies and enhancing service quality.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the strategy of Bank Sumut KCP Syariah HM Yamin Medan in maintaining customer loyalty amid the decline in returns on funding products. This research employs a qualitative approach using a case study method. Data collection was conducted through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation involving informants consisting of account officers, customer service staff, and customers who use funding products. The results of the study indicate that the decline in returns can affect customer loyalty, as reflected in fluctuations in the amount of Third Party Funds (DPK) and the number of customers. However, the bank implements strategies such as improving service quality, adopting a personal approach, maintaining intensive communication, and providing appreciation to customers. In addition, a soft selling strategy is applied in offering products so that customers continue to feel comfortable and valued. These strategies have proven effective in maintaining customer trust and loyalty despite the decrease in returns.

Abstract

The phenomenon of the interpretation of Surah al-Inshirah verse 7 has tended to stop at a normative reading that emphasizes the transition from one activity to another without a deeper conceptual exploration of the sustainability of charity in human life. This tendency has implications for an understanding of charity that is temporary, fragmentary, and less integrated with social dynamics and the ethos of sustainability. This paper aims to reconstruct the meaning of sustainable charity in Surah al-Inshirah verse 7 through a study of Nusantara interpretations by examining M. Quraish Shihab’s Tafsir Al-Mishbah and Hamka’s Tafsir Al-Azhar. The approach used is a qualitative one based on literature studies by making both interpretations as the main data sources, while the analysis technique is carried out comparatively critically to identify similarities, differences, and the direction of meaning developed by each interpreter. The results of the study indicate a shift in the meaning of charity from merely a momentary activity of worship or work to the principle of dynamic, progressive, and continuous charity, where each achievement is not understood as an endpoint, but rather as a momentum to give birth to the next, more meaningful charity. The interpretation of al-Mishbah emphasizes the psychological and ethical dimensions of the sustainability of charity, while the interpretation of Al-Azhar emphasizes its correlation with social responsibility and productive work. This reconstruction shows that Surah al-Inshirah verse 7 contains a paradigm of sustainable charity that is relevant to the modern context. Theoretically, this finding enriches the development of the study of Al-Quranic interpretation by strengthening the conceptual framework of sustainable charity as the basis for adaptive and contextual practical ethics.

Abstract

Most people use investment as a way to manage and maintain their assets so that they can grow and obtain long-term profits. Rahmawati explains that investment itself means the activity of investing capital to obtain a profit. The purpose of this study is to analyze the interest of millennials and Gen Z in using BSI gold credit services as a future savings investment. This research is qualitative research with a descriptive analysis method that focuses on primary and secondary data sources. The results show that the level of understanding of Millennials and Gen Z towards BSI Gold Credit products is still in the early stages (early awareness). This is due to low Islamic financial literacy, the complexity of products that have not been well socialized, and the lack of digital exposure that suits the characteristics of young media. The interest of Millennials and Gen Z in BSI Gold Credit products is influenced by a combination of factors, including financial literacy, ease of digital access, Islamic principles, editing flexibility, financial goals, social influence, and trust in institutions. The main obstacles faced by the younger generation in accessing BSI Gold Credit include low Islamic financial literacy, lack of promotion on social media, limited application features, doubts about the margin system, misconceptions about credit, and the perception that the process is complicated or not digital. To increase adoption, BSI needs to improve its communication, education, and digitization of its services in line with the media consumption patterns and financial behavior of Gen Z and Millennials.

Abstract

This study analyzes the factors causing landslides and flash floods and their impact on the economic well-being of communities in Batang Toru District, South Tapanuli Regency, from the perspective of Maqasid Sharia. It was prompted by the flash flood disaster of 25 November 2025, which resulted in fatalities, infrastructure damage, loss of productive assets, and disruption of social-economic activities. This qualitative field research collected data through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation involving the village head, the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), and affected residents, analyzed using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña interactive model. The findings show that the disaster was caused by the interaction of extreme rainfall, steep topography, the overflow of the Batang Toru River, land-use change, and river sedimentation. The disaster significantly affected economic well-being through damaged farmland, lost productive assets, halted economic activity, declining household income, heightened health risks, and disrupted children's education. From the Maqasid Sharia perspective, these impacts touch all five essential objectives of sharia: hifz al-din, hifz al-nafs, hifz al-'aql, hifz al-nasl, and hifz al-mal. Mitigation, emergency response, and rehabilitation efforts by the government, BPBD, and the community reflect the implementation of Maqasid Sharia values, although economic recovery still requires strengthening through environmental-conservation-based mitigation policy and post-disaster economic empowerment programs.
