Abstract

This study aimed to determine whether there is a correlation between students’ public speaking and muhadhoroh training with the title “The Correlation of Muhadhoroh Training and the Eighth Grade Students’ Public Speaking at Al-Manshuriyah Islamic Boarding School Tangerang”. The research subjects in this study were 28 eighth grade students. The research was quantitative survey method. The data instruments were tests and questionnaires. The test was used to collect data on students’ public speaking using speech test. Researchers used SPSS 25 and Ms. Excel to analyzed data. The result showed that there was significant relationship between muhadhoroh training and students’ public speaking. This could be seen from the results of a significant correlation in public speaking and muhadhoroh training  _xy = 0,897>  _t = 0,374, N = 28 with a significant value 0,05 so there is a correlation. Keywords: correlation study, public speaking, muhadhoroh training.

Abstract

This study aims to determine whether using the Lost In Translation film media can improve student understanding in  culture and language in the sociolinguistic class and how a film with the title Lost In Translation can affect student understanding. This study uses a qualitative approach in a descriptive analytical model. The instruments or tools used by researchers in collecting data were questionnaires and documents. a questionnaire (list of statements) containing 20 statements with a Likert scale which  results will be described descriptively, in taking the assessment the researcher calculates the results of the questionnaire which is a seventh semester student of sociolinguistics class content and documents in the form of photos of several film scenes showing the existence of several cultures and languages this movie. The results of the study have shown the final score of 2158 with an average grade  of 120 which indicates that students agree that the Lost In Translation film media can affect students' understanding  and knowing the language culture in the seventh semester sociolinguistics class of the Faculty of Education and Education at Muhammadiyah University of Tangerang.

Abstract

The aim of the research is to investigate whether Socrative application is effective to be used on the Eighth Grade Students in learning vocabulary at SMPN 16 Kota Tangerang Selatan in the academic year 2021/2022. The participants of this research were 64 students, which were classified into the controlled class and the experimental class through saturation sampling technique. The design used was quasi-experimental study and the instrument of this research was test that consisted of pre-test and post- test. The result can be seen that using Socrative application for formative assessment as the technique was effective and appropriate on the students in learning vocabulary.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to open the author's knowledge window directly, namely by conducting workshops so that UMT and UAD students can explore their public speaking in accordance with language cultures abroad and locally. not only that the workshop has a good impact, namely improving the quality and providing experience to students so that they can evaluate their English skills to speak in public, It is also useful in the context of globalization which will provide cross-cultural knowledge that is very important and valuable. In this paper, the author shares information about the Muhammadiyah museum and several tourist attractions and its history as learning material for a broader insight into an area.

Abstract

Arranging online teaching materials is a necessity in the current digital era, especially for educators/teachers. Teaching materials are one of the learning tools that can become a reference for a teacher as an effort to provide information and knowledge in a structured teaching strategy. This paper aims to provide an explanation regarding the implementation of community service carried out by MTS teachers in Tangerang in the context of preparing online teaching materials through an online application. There are 45 participants who involved in this program to arrange online teaching materials, from those participants only 1 person is succeed and the others found it difficult to complete it, because they were also busy. This shows that the implementation of teaching materials for a teacher is still low.

Abstract

Latar Belakang: Salah satu kegiatan pengabdian ini kami lakukan untuk dalam keberhasilan pembelajaran bahasa adalah terlihat pada kemampuan berbicara. Terlebih lagi, seseorang yang memiliki kemampuan bahasa Inggris yang baik mempunyai peluang yang lebih besar di hadapan publik hubungan, mereka dapat secara aktif terlibat dalam percakapan, memiliki keterpaparan yang lebih luas informasi melalui media terbitan dan internet, serta mempunyai pekerjaan lebih banyak peluang di masa depan. Pengucapan merupakan suatu hal yang sangat krusial dalam berbicara, jika kita tidak mempunyai hak pengucapannya, maka akan menimbulkan kesalahpahaman antar penutur. Ini terjadi karena bunyi ujaran dalam suatu bahasa merupakan satuan yang unik sehingga bunyinya berbeda-beda juga akan menimbulkan makna yang berbeda. Tujuan: Untuk melatih pengucapan bahasa inggris yang sesuai dengan aturan pengucapan IPA (International Phonetic Alphabeth). Metode: Kegiatan ini  dilaksanakan pada tanggal 9 Februari 2023. Metode yang dipergunakan dalam kegiatan ini  adalah pengajaran menggunakan aplikasi ELSA yang menarik bagi para siswa dan mempermudah siswa mempelajari cara pengucapan bahasa inggris yang baik dan benar sesuai denga IPA. Peneliti menerapkan penelitian eksperimental dengan menggunakan dua sampel kelompok yaitu kelas kontrol dan kelas eksperimen untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan aplikasi ELSA- Learn English Speaking terhadap keterampilan pengucapan. Perlakuan dilakukan setelah pre-test dan terakhir diberikan post-test untuk mengetahui efek akhir pada variabel terikat. Hasil: Pembelajaran pengucapan di kelas pada setiap pertemuan menggunakan Aplikasi Elsa Belajar Bahasa Inggris dan siswa mendapatkan feedback langsung dari penerapan dan penjelasan ulang dari peneliti, siswa diminta mengerjakan latihan sehari-hari dan diberikan pekerjaan rumah dengan mengirimkan voice note disertai pengucapan beberapa kata dan dilakukan dengan mengacu pada aplikasi Elsa untuk mengukur kemajuan pengucapan. Kesimpulan: Ditemukan hasil pengabdian tersebut bahwa Aplikasi Elsa-Belajar Bahasa Inggris Berbicara secara signifikan dapat meningkatkan kemampuan pengucapan siswa setelah digunakan sebagai media pembelajaran bahasa Inggris.

Abstract

Latar   belakang: Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini didorong oleh rendahnya minat baca di kalangan anak-anak usia sekolah. Membaca adalah salah satu indikator penting yang menentukan kemampuan seseorang dalam mengakses dan memanfaatkan informasi. Tujuan: Pengabdian Masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan minat membaca anak-anak usia sekolah dengan cara mendirikan taman baca di RT 03, yang dilakukan oleh mahasiswa/i Universitas Muhammadiyah Tangerang dalam program KKN Cipondoh. Metode:  Pendirian taman baca dan penyelenggaraan workshop literasi membaca untuk meningkatkan minat baca anak dilakukan oleh mahasiswa KKN Cipondoh bersama dosen-dosen Universitas Muhammadiyah Tangerang. Workshop literasi membaca untuk menumbuhkan minat baca anak-anak diadakan oleh dosen pembimbing lapangan dan koordinator DPL secara langsung pada tanggal 07 September 2023, bertepatan dengan acara penutupan KKN Cipondoh. Peserta pengabdian ini adalah RT 03 dan RW 01 Kelurahan Cipondoh, Kecamatan Cipondoh. Hasil: Setelah mengikuti pengarahan dalam workshop yang dihadiri oleh pejabat kelurahan, masyarakat, dan anak-anak berusia 5-15 tahun, mereka sangat antusias menyambut taman baca tersebut. Mereka segera mulai membaca setelah taman baca diresmikan oleh kelurahan, dosen, dan mahasiswa KKN Cipondoh. Kesimpulan: Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini sukses meningkatkan literasi membaca di kalangan masyarakat Kecamatan Cipondoh, Tangerang, melalui inisiatif Taman Baca berbasis komunitas. Program ini juga berhasil meningkatkan kesadaran masyarakat tentang pentingnya membaca dan pembelajaran sepanjang hayat.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of the role-playing community in English writing skills for its members. The research used in this study is in the form of qualitative methods with a descriptive approach. The instruments used are structured interviews and passive observation. Interviews were conducted with ten respondents and observations were made by five respondents who actively wrote in a private channel on Telegram. The results showed that the role-playing community had a positive impact on developing the English writing of its members, and fostered an increase in members' confidence in writing English. The challenges experienced by respondents are the lack of vocabulary and concerns about grammatical errors, but participants usually overcome them by using Grammarly or translator applications. Observations of five active members writing on their personal channels showed progress over time, for example in the cohesiveness, clarity, and grammatical accuracy of their writing over time. These findings show that role-playing communities can help people to develop their English writing because they have a good impact.

Abstract

English language skills are very important to face future challenges. In situations like this, using video media as a teaching method can be an interesting innovation for teaching children to recognize English vocabulary. This research aims to explore the role of YouTube media in creating a more interactive learning experience and teachers also benefit from YouTube media because YouTube can help teachers explain vocabulary lessons in class, especially in jitjongrak schools, and to increase students' understanding and motivation. This research uses qualitative methods. Researchers will look at the activities of teachers at this school in introducing English vocabulary using animated video media on the YouTube application in learning and describing the problem under study in the real situation by making observations, with the data analysis used, namely descriptive data analysis. The results of the study stated that the English vocabulary ability score of respondents, namely children aged 4-6 years at Jitjongkrak Krabi School, Thailand, who learned English using YouTube media, had an average of 88%, categorized as very good. The existence of YouTube proves that this media can be used as a medium to introduce English vocabulary to children, as evidenced by the average score of YouTube utilization of 62, categorized as good.
