<![CDATA[Writing English as a Foreign Language (EFL) requires one to applied writing rules such as language features: vocabulary, punctuation, type of text, text organization as well as appropriate Grammar, especially Past Conditional sentences. It is desired as a rule to convey one's expectations in their daily activities. The purpose of this research was to describe the difficulties and the factors that students of one of SMAN in Kabupaten Tangerang faced in writing using Past Conditional Sentence. The approach applied in this research was qualitative, and the method used in this research was descriptive analysis. Written tests and interviews were used to collect the data. The results of this research discovered the problems faced by students in writing using the Past Conditional Sentence. It was found that 73% of students had the same writing problem using past conditional sentences. The common mistakes were Verb and Auxiliary's wrong usage and incorrect application of Past Conditional formulas. Furthermore, it was revealed that the problems of language factors contribute to writing related to environmental, linguistics, and psychological factors.]]>

<![CDATA[This study aims to conduct a contextual analysis of Public Service Advertisements from the Ministry of Education and Culture: OVERSEAS WORKER. The approach in this research is qualitative with content analysis method. The source of the data in this study is the Public Service Advertisement from the Ministry of Education and Culture: OVERSEAS WORKER which is uploaded through the YouTube channel of the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia. From this research, four data were found that can be analyzed by contextual discourse analysis, which are divided into the principle of personal interpretation, the principle of locational interpretation, the principle of temporal or situational interpretation, and the principle of analogy.]]>

<![CDATA[This research was conducted at SMPN 4 KOTA TANGERANG which took place from July to August. The sample consisted 76 students from ninth grade which devide into two classes, experimental class (IX.3) and controlled class (IX.4).Based on the observation, some of students feel that learning of English, especially in reading is difficult subject compared to other lessons. So, the researcherss conduct research with used the Authentic Material with the aim in this research is to find and know whether that authentic material’s effect or not on students’ reading comprehension. This research used a quantitative method with a quasiexperimental design. In collecting the data, the researcherss gave pre-test and post-test on both classes with mulitiple choice questions that had been tested for validity and reliability before and in analyzing the data the researchers used t-test. Hyphothesis test result as the degree of significant 5% indicates that pre-test done before treatment is Tcount (1,22982) < Ttable 1,992543, so H0 is accepted and H1 is rejected or there is no significant effect from experimental class and the controlled class before giving a treatment. It was found that posttest done after treatment isTcount (2,24132) > Ttable 1,992543, so H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. The result of this research shows that there is significant difference on students’ reading comprehension by using authentic materials.Therefore, it can be interpreted that teaching reading by using authentic materials can increase the students’ comprehension.]]>

<![CDATA[The different cultures, power distance could be the obstacle in intercultural communication. The aim of this research to identify the types of Cross-Cultural Communication Style Choice between British and American in the Leap Year movie. The researchers attempt to reveal kinds of Cross-Cultural Communication Style Choice between Declan as British and Anna as American for three days. This Qualitative research method analyses data of utterances and are classified into four types of Cross-Cultural Communication Style Choice. The result shows that there are 356 utterances of Anna and Declan. for three days. Anna has 204 utterances with 44,3 % direct style and indirect 5,8 %.. Declan uses 155 utterance with 37 % and 12 % indirect style. British tend to use more indirect styles in expressing their intention to save the interlocutor’s face.Meanwhile, American use direct styles to reveal their intentions as they belong to the high culture communication.Key words: across culture communication,direct style, indirectstyle]]>

<![CDATA[Abstract The research was conducted to investigate the learners’ confidence towards their speaking skill in English Club in LIA Pramuka, East Jakarta for 2 months focused on perceptions of learners about their confidence in speaking English. The participants involved were 3 participants of English Club members, who were representative about the issue that possessed self-confidence problem. The researcher used questionnaire, interview, observation and documents to collect the data. After experiencing their speaking practice there, the researcher investigated about some perceptions toward speaking activities. The results of this study showed that they could raise their motivation and confidence to speak English since many vocabularies were acquired as they faced listening activity firstly. Besides, they had no anxiety in expressing their ideas anymore although they felt lack of speaking ability. <![CDATA[The aim of the research was to investigate whether Ginger Software can be used to improve the writing skill of the tenth grade students at SMK Ki Hajar Dewantoro. The participants of this research were 64 students, which were classified into the controlled class and the experimental class. The design used was quasi-experimental study and the instruments of this research consisted of pre-test and post-test. The result showed that using Ginger Software was effective and appropriate to improve students’ writing skill. It could be seen from the average of post-test result in experimental class was 75.90, and the average of pre-test was 65.06. Meanwhile, the average of post-test result in controlled class was 66, and the average of pre-test was 59.21. The result of the t-test of post-test also showed that there was a significant difference between experimental and controlled class, t-count of ɑ = 5% df = 62 was 3.48 and for t-table was 2.00. The calculation proved that t-value was higher than t-table. It means that H1 is accepted and H0 is rejected. It can be concluded that Ginger Software gave significant effect on improving students’ writing skill. Key words: Ginger Software, Writing Skill]]>

<![CDATA[The study is investigating the perceptions of students about learning using onlinemethod, the problems they encountered during e-learning process and theirstrategy to face e-learning method. The subject of the research was coming from 4students who were divided into third and fifth semester from 2 universities, suchas Bina Sarana Informatika and Muhammadiyah Tangerang University. Thedescriptive qualitative is used to gather the required data. Five questions areasked to get the data through online interview. Data shows that most of thestudents’ perceptions on online learning method is quite similar. Most of thestudents feel the same problems which relate to internet connection problems. Theproblem distracted their understanding of the materials given by the lecturers.Then, the strategy to encounter the problems are asking and discussing withfriends. Besides, they also find their own way through internet. Despite of beingeasy to find many ways to solve the problems, the offline method becomes theirmost favourable learning method.]]>

<![CDATA[This study aimed to analyze the information related to the students’ perspectives on using E-Learning as learning media during the pandemic, which was seen from 2 aspects: perspectives on the advantages and the problems faced. The subject of this study were students in 6 semesters at University of Muhammadiyah Tangerang. This study used descriptive qualitative method. The writers used 3 techniques; interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. The result of this study showed that most of their perspectives of the advantages of using E- learning are; more comfortable and flexible to do anytime and anywhere, saved time, money and transportation costs, upgraded technology and access much information, more safely and independent learning. However, the main problem faced were poor internet signal connection, spent a lot of internet quota. Moreover, there are some students who felt bored, and stressed because of monotonous learning, and lack of knowledge to master the application’s use properly. ]]>

<![CDATA[This research aims to describe the hedonism portrayed in Shania Twain’s song. Moreover, it also aims at describing the negative effect of hedonism on young people’s futures. The objective of this study is to analyze the hedonic behavior expressed in the song lyrics and also to describe the negative impact of hedonism, especially for the younger generation, as reflected in the song. "Ka-Ching!" is chosen as the song as it has many hedonistic behaviors, and it is taken as the main research data sung by Shania Twain. Hermeneutic Interpretation theory and Sociology of Literature theory are used. Descriptive qualitative is chosen as a research method. Based on the research, the result shows the types of hedonism expressed in Ka-Ching song lyrics consist of: The results of this research are that (1) the hedonistic issues portrayed in the song lyrics cover aesthetic and egoistic hedonism. These two types dominate the two song lyrics belonging to Shania Twain. The other result is that the ways to anticipate hedonism in life include being wise, being grateful, being simpler in life, and being closer to God.]]>

<![CDATA[AbstractThis study was executed to identify the strategies that students encountered when taking the TOEFL, particularly in the listening section. The descriptive qualitative technique was used in the study. It used the interview as a data collecting instrument. The research subjects were the seventh grade of Nursing students in POLTEKES Banten. The following strategies were used to examine the data: data collecting, data display, data reduction, and conclusion drafting. This study included 25 seventh semester students of Nursing Study Program who were chosen using random sample approaches. According to the findings of this study, it indicated the strategies of their listening test were concentrating, comprehend the listening instruction, having a good time management, predicting the questions, focusing on keywords and assigned in supportive environment. ]]>
