Abstract

Abstract: Vocabulary is ultimate aspect in learning a language. A student who learns a foreign language should have a lot of vocabularies to developt some skills, namely speaking, writing, reading and listening. Abstract

A method has important rule  in educating the children for reaching a goal of education that is hoped by parents. Because of that, the parents must have knowledge and education for choosing the method, the  children grow up in bad condition  if they choice the wrong method.  Based on view of Islam there are some methods in raising children in Islamic, thay are: modelling method, love method, advice method, communication method, action method, telling story method, reward and punishment method and playing method. Modelling method is a parents as modelling especially in religious aspect. Love method  is a method  that use by loving. In advice method a parents can be using the Alqur’an and Sunnah for teaching them. Telling story method is a method when a parents must like telling a good story for building their character. Reward and punishment methods are methods that can be combined and this case the parents must be wise. And the last is playing method, this method brings the parents in comportable gratifying condition. The childreen will be happy and smart. Finally,  The parents can be able to use all the method above based on the condition of their children, which one is compatible for them. Alqur’an and Sunnah Rasululluh Saw support to all the methods.  So there is no doubt for choosing all the methods.

Abstract

AbstractThis article described Using Sory Telling in Teaching English Toward Elementry School . The story telling can grows and improve a moral intelligences. Using story telling in teaching learning process in English is the one of the way to build the intelligence and one of study media. They can develop their imagination and it can exercises them to solving problem and think well. Through the story telling thestudents can insrease the vocabulary in language developing and it has goal for improve the listening and for comprehend in lestening process. Beside that, for creating enjoy and fun situation. More than anything else when teacher can succeed adaptation and modify adapted for the Ianguage based on the level growth of student Ianguage and storey level difficulty of their English. aaaaaaafinally ,The children is pushed to give an active participation in responding the tales being told, since at the positive responses is expected to reflect the moral intelligences and it is very effective more than suggestion.Key word: Story Telling,Teaching English and Students

Abstract

Kosa kata atau vocabulary adalah elemen penting dalam pembelajaran bahasa inggris. Keempat keterampilan dalam bahasa inggris yaitu listening, speaking, reading dan writing sangat membutuhkan kosa kata. Oleh karena itu dibutuhkan tehnik yang menarik untuk menyampaikan materi kosa kata ini. Seorang guru bahasa inggris harus mempunyai tehnik, strategi dan media yang menyenangkan agar kosa kata yang diajarkan dapat tersimpan dalam memori jangka panjang siswa. Dalam artikel ini penulis menjelaskan tehnik mengajar kosa kata dengan menggunakan tehnik the word cards. Tehnik ini menggunakan kartu dalam menyampaikan materinya. Tehnik ini dapat mempermudah guru dalam mengajarkan kosa kata dan dapat meningkatkan kosa kata siswa.

Abstract

Penelitian ini berbicara tentang peningkatan kemampuan menulis siswa dalam teks laporan melalui teknik clustering pada kelas XI SMAN 1 Siabu, masalah siswa dalam kemampuan menulis adalah siswa tidak memiliki gagasan untuk menulis, siswa tidak dapat mengembangkan gagasan untuk menulis, siswa tidak tertarik untuk menulis bahasa Inggris dan guru bahasa inggris tidak memiliki teknik yang tepat. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mendeskripsikan prestasi belajar siswa dalam menulis teks laporan dan untuk mengetahui faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi penulisan laporan teks siswa dengan teknik clustering pada kelas XI SMAN 1 Siabu. Metode penelitian adalah tindakan kelas dengan menerapkan Kemmis dan Mc Taggart yang dirancang yang terdiri dari empat tahap. Itu adalah rencana, tindakan, amati, dan renungkan. Selain itu, untuk mengatasi masalah penulisan teks tulisan, peneliti menerapkan teknik clustering. Peserta penelitian adalah seluruh siswa kelas XI IPA3 SMAN 1 Siabu yang terdiri 28 siswa. Instrumen pengumpulan data adalah tes dan observasi. Teknik analisis data adalah mean score dan t-test. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, menunjukkan peningkatan kemampuan menulis siswa dalam teks laporan melalui penerapan teknik clustering. Skor rata-rata siswa menunjukkan peningkatan penulisan teks laporan siswa. Hasil uji pertama pada siklus I adalah 58,92 (25%) dan uji kedua pada siklus II adalah 83,28 (89,28%). Skor rata-rata siklus kedua lebih tinggi dari siklus pertama. Penerapan teknik clustering dapat meningkatkan kemampuan menulis siswa dalam teks laporan pada kelas XI IPA 3 SMAN 1 Siabu, artinya hipotesis dapat diterima.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mencari korelasi antara motivasi membaca dan pemahaman membaca siswa di kelas X SMA S Nurul Ilmi Padangsidimpuan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitaif dengan metode korelasi. Populasi nya terdiri dari 240 siswa dari delapan kelas. Kemudian sample diambil dengan random sebanyak 48 siswa. Data dikumpulkan melalui angket untuk mengetahui motivasi membaca siswa dan tes untuk mengetahui pemahaman membaca siswa serta menggunakan product moment dan t-test untuk menganalisis data. Hasil dari penelitian ini ditemukan rata-rata skor motivasi membaca siswa adalah 93 dan rata-rata skor pemahaman membaca adalah 65.66. Skor pada rcount adalah 0.474 dan rtable pada taraf significant 5% adalah 0.368. Hasilnya rcount lebih besar dari rtable(0.474 0.368). Kemudian, skor dari tcount adalah 3.692 dan ttable pada taraf significant 1 % adalah 2.09. Jadi, tcount lebih besar dari ttable(3.692 2.09) yang berarti  hipotesis (Ha) diterima. Peneliti menyimpulkan bahwa signifikan korelasi antara motivasi membaca dan kemampuan membaca siswa kelas X di SMA S Nurul Ilmi Padangsidmpuan adalah kategori cukup.

Abstract

Penelitian ini untuk mengetahui peningkatan kemampuan penguasaan kosakata bahasa Inggris siswa dengan menggunakan sebuah teknik pembelajaran yakni Word Square Modelling. Penelitian dilakukan dengan metode penelitian tindakan kelas dengan memilih siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 5 sebagai subject penelitian. Dua siklus dilakukan dalam penelitian ini dengan mengikuti 4 (empat) proses dalam setiap siklusnya, yakni planning, observing, acting, and reflecting. Tes vocabulary digunakan untuk mengetahui kemampuan penguasaan vocabulary siswa yang dilakukan analiss dengan mencari tahu nilai rata-rata dan persentase nilai yang diperoleh oleh siswa. Hal lain yang dilakukan adalah melakukan observasi dan wawancara untuk menyempurnakan pemerolehan data penelitian. Dari analisis data yang dilakukan diketahui bahwa pesentase nilai penguasaan vocabulary siswa dari siklus satu ke siklus beirkutnya meningkat, yakni dari 76,19% menjadi 78.66. walaupun peningkatan yang terjadi tidak begitu tinggi, namun dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunakan wodd square modeling untuk mengajari vocabulary mastery sungguh baik digunakan

Abstract

Online learning is one of the big challenges that must be done in this Era. However many people less access and do not use the appropriate media to do it. Besides, they also lack of the application usage. However, Social Media is more popular today. Many people spend their time on social media for communicating, entertaining, selling, and etc. Therefore, using social media as the tool to do the communication in learning is possible to do. One of the popular social media that is used by the students today is Instagram, which has 70 million users in Indonesia. Thus, this research is aimed to find out the effectiveness of using Instagram in online learning. It is specified to the 3rd Semester students of English Department of IAIN Padangsidimpuan. It investigated the participation and feedback of students in learning process while using Instagram as the platform in learning activity. This research used descriptive qualitative research to analyse the students’ perception in implementing Instagram in learning process. The results show that Instagram is effective to be used as the tool for the students’ interaction especially in discussion which is related to the task activity and explanation. Besides, the students felt easier to use this application because it has been used by almost students of the 3rd semester of English Department of IAIN Padangsidimpuan.

Abstract

The background of the research problem is students assume that Indonesian language courses are subjects that are considered easy and do not need to be studied on the grounds that they are able to speak Indonesian verbally, Indonesian has been used in everyday life both in formal and non-formal environments. This reason makes students assume that learning Indonesian does not need to be learned and is not included in the use of international languages as the language of communication between countries. If this continues, it can indicate the students' thinking that Indonesian is not important to learn and understand, thirdly, students assume that Indonesian language courses are only for meeting SKS and not for the importance of learning Indonesian language. If this statement is true then this subject is not yet based on its desire to know Indonesian language learning. The purpose of this study was to determine students' perceptions and attitudes towards first semester Indonesian language learning at IAIN Padangsidimpuan. This research method uses descriptive qualitative approach with this research data collection instrument in the form of questionnaires, observation and interview processing techniques and data analysis of this research is data editing, data reduction and drawing conclusions namely compiling data editions into systematic sentences. The result showed that the students think that bahasa Indonesia is easy to study, on the other hand they still unable to use it whether in daily communication or even in written expression. Their attitude to bahasa Indonesia is still low, it means that they are not care about bahasa Indonesia lesson because they think that it is not important for them, it is shown by inability of the students in writing scientific article
