Abstract

Bojonegoro Regency is one of the regencies with a high prevalence of stunting at 23.9%, which is higher than the provincial prevalence of 23.5% and 21.1% nationally. Kedungadem District occupies the second highest stunting case, as many as 258 toddlers and 14 of them are in Balongcabe Village. The purpose of this study was to analyze the cost-effectiveness of stunting intervention through a public education program called Hotline Stunting that utilizes the automatic message feature on the WhatsApp Business application for the people of Balongcabe Village, Bojonegoro Regency. This research method was true-experimental by providing a stunting intervention program and the research subjects were Balongcabe village cadres. During the program's trial period in August 2021, there were 144 children under five in Balongcabe Village. The cost analysis method used Cost Effectiveness Analysis (CEA) by calculating the ratio of the total costs incurred to implement the program with program cost effectiveness that produced the same outcome, namely stunting prevention. Based on the results of the CEA calculation, the use of the Hotline Stunting program in Balongcabe Village was 4,314 rupiah and the USE Questionnaire calculation was 85.43%, indicating that the Hotline Stunting Program that utilizes the WhatsApp Business Application with a low amount will be effectively run as one stunting prevention program and categorized into a program that is very feasible and easy to use, so it can be recommended to continue to be developed in Balongcabe Village.

Abstract

Background: The amount of capitation received by primary healthcare facilities under Indonesia National Health Insurance is based on the number of participants registered in the facilities. The imbalance in the number of participants per primary healthcare facilities causes disparities in the distribution of its capitation funds. The uneven distribution of participants also causes the imbalance of health risks managed by the primary healthcare facilities. Objective: This study aims to describe the distribution of National Health Insurance participants at First Level Health Facilities in Gubeng District, Surabaya City based on the type of FKTP and the location of the health facility in the village. Method: This study analyzes the Indonesia National Health Insurance membership data for 2021 at the BPJS Kesehatan KCU Surabaya. The case study in Gubeng Subdistrict, Surabaya was chosen to illustrate how the distribution of participants in the primary healthcare facilities is in an area that has relatively no problems with geographic access or the availability of referral health facilities. Results: The number of private primary healthcare facilities (clinics and private medical practice) in Gubeng Subdistrict is higher than the government's primary healthcare facilities (Puskesmas, TNI/POLRI Clinics) but the largest ratio of participants is in government primary healthcare facilities. Kelurahan Mojo in Gubeng had the largest number of primary healthcare facilities, but the largest ratio of participants was in Kelurahan Airlangga. At least 43.7% of the primary healthcare facilities in Gubeng Subdistrict had a ratio of participants above the average ratio of participants per primary healthcare facilities in the sub-district. Conclusion: The distribution of JKN participants to primary healthcare facilities in Gubeng District is uneven.

Abstract

Waste is a classic problem for developing countries like Indonesia. Coastal areas are one of the areas that most vulnerable to environmental problems, especially those related to plastic waste. This community service activity aims to increase community knowledge about the importance of waste management and encourage them to turn waste into handicraft products that have economic value. This community service activity is in partnership with the community in the Keputih coastal area and local community leaders in RT VII RW VIII Keputih. The method used is to provide counseling, training and assistance to the community. Evaluation of activities is carried out by assessing: 1) knowledge about waste (inorganic and organic that is difficult to decompose) through pre-test and post-test regarding educational materials, 2) assessment of the ability to practice waste management (crafting) and 3) Impact of activities is carried out by reviewing Has waste management been implemented from households to TPS? The education and assistance on waste management, including sorting and making handicrafts from waste, has been successful with 3 indicators achieved, namely the presence of the community in counseling (80%), 65% of the target community has increased their knowledge, and 75% of the target community has sorted waste and made crafts from plastic waste. It is hoped that community service activities can be sustainable, such as providing education to target communities regarding how to sell handicrafts made from waste, and collaborating with other parties that can improve the branding of handicraft products.

The results of this study indicated that the health workers of Puskesmas in East Java had a high commitment in handling COVID-19 and their QWL was sufficient. The ordinal regression test showed that QWL affected the commitment of Puskesmas health workers. The higher the perception of the quality of work life of health workers at Puskesmas in East Java, the higher the commitment they have to handle COVID-19.

Abstract

Background: Anemia is a common health problem among adolescent females, which can have long-term impacts on reproductive health, cognitive performance, and productivity. Low levels of knowledge are among the key factors contributing to the high prevalence of anemia in this age group. Objective: This study aimed to assess the effect of health promotion activities on improving knowledge about anemia among female students at Universitas Airlangga who reside in the women’s dormitory. Method: This study employed a pre-test and post-test design involving 47 female students selected through accidental sampling. The health promotion activity was conducted offline, followed by pre- and post-test questionnaires. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test to examine differences in knowledge scores before and after the intervention. Results: There was a significant difference between pre-test and post-test knowledge scores (p = 0.000). A total of 28 respondents demonstrated an increase in scores, with an average improvement of 19.48 points. Conclusion: Health promotion through socialization activities was effective in enhancing knowledge about anemia among adolescent girls. This educational approach holds strong potential for wider implementation, particularly by involving students as peer educators to strengthen their role as agents of change in anemia prevention.

Abstract

Health development in many low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) tends to be driven by donor-driven pilot projects frequently framed as innovative and scalable solutions. However, these programs typically disappear once external funding ends, resulting in the failure to achieve sustainability and long-term impact. This commentary explores the limitations of project-based development in LMICs, highlighting how shifts in the global aid architecture create complex pressures on recipient countries. Indonesia serves as a case study to illustrate how the proliferation of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and competition for donor funding have led to fragmented implementation, donor-dependent strategies, and low levels of community ownership.
