Abstract

Febrile seizures are medical emergencies commonly occurring in children aged 6 months to 5 years that require immediate and appropriate response. Maternal knowledge plays a critical role in managing these events to prevent complications. Objective : This study aims to examine the relationship between maternal knowledge, education, occupation, and age with the management of febrile seizures in children at Mitra Plumbon Hospital. A quantitative research design with a cross-sectional approach was used. A total of 84 mothers whose children experienced febrile seizures were selected through total sampling. A validated structured questionnaire was used as the instrument. The questionnaire underwent validity and reliability testing on a sample of 10 mothers to ensure its appropriateness for the study. Data were analyzed using the Spearman Rank test and ordinal regression.Result : The results showed that 45.2% of mothers had good knowledge and 47.6% demonstrated appropriate seizure management. Significant relationships were found between knowledge (r = 0.567; p < 0.001) and education (r = 0.287; p = 0.008) with seizure management. Age and occupation showed no significant correlation. Conclusion : It is concluded that maternal knowledge and education significantly influence the proper management of febrile seizures. Continuous health education for mothers is essential to improve emergency handling of febrile seizures at home.

Abstract

Newborns commonly experience an increase in bilirubin levels starting from the first day of life. If not properly managed, this condition can develop into hyperbilirubinemia—a frequently encountered health issue among neonates that may lead to severe neurological complications. Nutritional intake, particularly breastfeeding, is believed to play a crucial role in the elimination of bilirubin through feces and urine. Objective: This study aimed to analyze the relationship between nutritional intake and total bilirubin levels in neonates with hyperbilirubinemia on the final day of hospitalization. Methods: This research employed an analytical correlational design with a cross-sectional approach. A total of 34 respondents were selected using accidental sampling during of June at Waled Regional Public Hospital, Cirebon Regency. Data analysis was performed using Pearson’s correlation test. Results: The findings revealed a significant relationship between nutritional intake and total bilirubin levels in neonates with hyperbilirubinemia (p-value = 0.001; r = -0.542), indicating a moderate negative correlation. Conclusion: Adequate nutritional intake, especially breastfeeding, combined with appropriate medical management, plays an important role in reducing bilirubin levels in neonates with hyperbilirubinemia.

Abstract

Ineffective airway clearance is one of the oxygenation disorders in patients with respiratory disorders (bronchitis). One of the practical nursing actions is to cough effectively to remove mucus in the respiratory tract. This study aimed to determine and analyze nursing care for impaired oxygenation needs in patients with a medical diagnosis of bronchitis in the old Jimbaran room. This research method uses a descriptive design as a nursing practice case study approach. The case study examines the respiratory rate (RR) of patients with respiratory disorders (bronchitis) after giving effective coughing measures for 3x24 hours. The results showed that the patient's RR before implementation was 24 x/min. In comparison, after being given an effective cough implementation for 3x24 hours, the RR was 20 x/min. In conclusion, nursing actions that need to be taken in patients with respiratory disorders (bronchitis) include assessing sputum production, effective coughing techniques, counseling regarding positioning, and collaborative oxygen or nebulizer administration. The implication of this study is the importance of effective coughing measures in managing bronchitis patients, including evaluation of sputum production, training in proper coughing techniques, education on proper positioning, and collaboration with oxygen or nebulizer administration as needed. Synchronization between research objectives and research conclusions. Present the research subject, research criteria, data collection methods, and data analysis.
