Abstract

This article investigates the role of Pencak Silat as a martial art during the Majapahit Empire, emphasizing its dual significance in warfare and the shaping of cultural identity. The research highlights how Pencak Silat was utilized both as a military strategy and a spiritual practice, contributing to the empire's dominance in the Indonesian archipelago. By integrating combat techniques with philosophical values, Pencak Silat became a key factor in Majapahit’s military success. This study adopts a qualitative approach, utilizing primary sources such as epigraphy, historical texts, and cultural artifacts, in addition to secondary literature, to offer a comprehensive analysis. The research also includes visual documentation, such as illustrations of martial arts practices during the era. The findings reveal that Pencak Silat played a pivotal role not only in defending the empire but also in instilling loyalty, discipline, and spiritual resilience among its warriors. Furthermore, the study explores the broader social context of the Majapahit era, differentiating it from other Southeast Asian societies. The article concludes that Pencak Silat had enduring cultural and military importance, leaving a lasting legacy that influenced subsequent generations in the region.

Abstract

Gender identity plays an important role in shaping communication dynamics in academic settings. This study aims to explore the role of gender identity in collaborative communication within student study and discussion groups. This research uses a qualitative approach and draws on literature related to gender, collaborative communication, and higher education. Social construction of gender, gender stereotypes, and communication theory are used as frameworks to analyze the influence of gender identity in the context of group communication. The study population consists of active students. Purposive sampling techniques are used to select participants with diverse gender backgrounds. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and participant observations, and then analyzed using a thematic analysis approach. The results of the analysis show that gender identity affects communication patterns, topic selection, participation, and decision-making in study and discussion groups. The conclusion emphasizes the importance of considering the role of gender identity in designing inclusive and empowering learning environments. The implications of this research for educational practice and future research directions are also discussed.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilatarbelakangi oleh pentingnya integrasi olah raga dalam kehidupan masyarakat untuk meningkatkan kesehatan fisik dan melestarikan kebudayaan lokal. Tujuan kegiatan ini adalah untuk membangun kesadaran dan partisipasi masyarakat dalam aktivitas olah raga yang tidak hanya meningkatkan kesehatan, tetapi juga menguatkan identitas budaya melalui gerakan yang dirancang khusus. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan melibatkan pelatihan olah raga berbasis komunitas yang menggabungkan aspek kesehatan dan budaya, dengan pendekatan partisipatif dan kolaboratif. Hasil kegiatan ini menunjukkan peningkatan partisipasi masyarakat dalam aktivitas fisik dan peningkatan pemahaman mereka tentang pentingnya melestarikan kebudayaan melalui olah raga. Temuan lainnya mencakup peningkatan solidaritas dan kohesi sosial di kalangan peserta. Kegiatan ini berhasil menciptakan platform yang efektif untuk menggabungkan tujuan kesehatan dan kebudayaan dalam satu gerakan yang holistik.

Abstract

Covid-19 has had a significant impact on the teaching and learning process. This study aims to evaluate the teaching and learning process during the pandemic, the interesting and different thing is that this research is carried out in online learning in Papua. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method, the research subjects are students and lecturers in Papua, Indonesia. This research was conducted through three stages, namely: data collection; data reduction; and verification and confirmation of conclusions. The instruments used are interviews, photo documentation through the Whatsapp application. Data analysis in this study used the triangulation method (measurement of data validity). The results of this study are: First, e-learning during the pandemic is difficult to run well, this is influenced by facilities such as networks and communication devices; Second, the impact of e-learning is that the emotional closeness between lecturers and students is not well established, learning is monotonous and there are more tasks in the form of orders; Third, e-learning provides benefits, namely forcing the acceleration of mastery of digital-based learning technology in Papua, social media content is used more massively. The conclusion of this research is that there are various opinions of lecturers and students in e-learning during the pandemic, starting from the infrastructure, the quality of the interaction, and the benefits received. The impact of this research is the importance of further increasing the development of development facilities, especially to support the improvement of education in Papua, and special handling to advance Eastern Indonesia.

Abstract

One of the main challenges faced by prospective educators is the limited understanding and application of Positive Discipline in the educational process, which hampers optimal character development in students. This community service program aims to enhance the capacity of Primary School Teacher Education (PGSD) students at Universitas Terbuka (UT) Jayapura through Smart Education training on the implementation of Positive Discipline as a strategy to build students’ integrity, responsibility, and independence. The activity was conducted using a participatory approach through workshops, interactive discussions, and case study simulations. The results showed an 85% increase in participants’ understanding of Positive Discipline concepts, as well as improved skills in applying such approaches in educational settings. Post-training evaluations also revealed positive changes in participants’ thinking patterns regarding educational communication and the importance of early character education. This program contributes significantly to preparing future teachers who are oriented toward character development and a more humanistic school culture.

Abstract

Abstract: This empowerment activity is aimed at the people of South Ardipura Jayapura. The purpose of this activity is to take advantage of opportunities by diversifying superior products with social media-based marketing media. The approach used is descriptive qualitative phenomenology which is integrated with quantitative data. The stages of implementing activities are carried out starting from socialization, implementation of activities and evaluation and mentoring. The results of this activity are from 15 craftsmen. The data instrument used observation techniques, and structured interviews. Then, to complete the data needed, both in the grand tour question, focused and selection stage, carry out data collection, analysis and make conclusions. Data analysis uses data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results and discussion of the activities carried out were that there was a high level of participation from the participants of the activity, and it was seen from the presence of enthusiastic residents to participate and support from government officials by participating in the activity. Based on these activities in the future, the government and the community can provide improvements to micro-enterprise empowerment programs, especially aspects of handling human resources, management, administration and production, and transfer of appropriate technology.Keywords: Local Wisdom; Noken Papua; Empowerment.Abstrak: Kegiatan pemberdayaan yang dilaksanakan ini ditujukan kepada masyarakat Ardipura Jayapura Selatan. Adapun tujuan kegiatan ini adalah memanfaatkan peluang dengan membuat diversifikasi produk unggulan dengan media pemasaran berbasis media sosial. Pendekatan yang dilakukan menggunakan deskriptif kualitatif fenomonologis yang terpadu dengan data kuantitatif. Tahapan pelaksanaan kegiatan dilakukan mulai dari sosialisasi, pelaksanaan kegiatan dan evaluasi serta pendampingan. Adapun hasil dari kegiatan ini yakni dari 15 pengrajin. Instrumen data menggunakan teknik oservasi, dan wawancara terstruktur. Kemudian, untuk melengkapi data yang dibutuhkan, baik pada grand tour question, tahap focused and selection, melakukan pengumpulan data, analisis dan membuat kesimpulan. Analisis data menggunakan reduksi data, penyajian data, dan menarik kesimpulan. Hasil dan pembahasan dari kegiatan yang dilaksanakan yakni bahwa tingkat partisipasi yang tinggi peserta kegiatan, dan terlihat dari kehadiran warga yang antusias untuk mengikuti serta dukungan dari perangkat pemerintah dengan turut serta hadir dalam kegiatan. Berdasarkan kegiatan tersebut ke depan pemerintah dan masyarakat dapat memberikan peningkatan program pemberdayaan usaha mikro terutama aspek penanganan sumber daya manusia, manajemen, administrasi dan produksi, dan transfer teknologi tepat guna.Kata Kunci: Local Wisdom; Noken Papua; Pemberdayaan.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini yakni bagaimana fakta data dapat diperoleh, serta mengkaji pembinaan dan pengembangan senam di Jawa Tengah. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif menggunakan evaluasi berbasis CIPP. Rancangan penelitian ini menggunakan mixed-method sebab memakai data kuantitatif. Instrumen dan teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah observasi, wawancara, kuesioner, dan studi dokumentasi, kemudian dianalisis melalui triangulasi data penelitian. Adapun hasil dari penelitian ini menujukkan bahwa mulai dari aspek context hingga product dalam pembinaan dan pengembangan senam menujukkan kategori rata-rata cukup baik. Pentingnya penelitian ini yakni dapat menjadi data rujukan penting bagi semua pelaku dan pembina olahraga untuk meningkatkan prestasinya melalui sistem tata kelola manajemen yang baik dan benar
