Abstract

Farmers are at high risk of pesticide exposure. The threat of death from pesticides reaches 168,000 per year. Pesticide free radicals cause health problems in the form of impaired function of nerves, liver, and kidneys and cause cancer. Low blood cholinesterase (CHE) indicates pesticide residue. Steeping bay leaves (Syzygium polyanthum) are expected to improve liver function to detoxify pesticide-free radicals that have already entered the body. This study aims to determine the effect of steeping bay leaves (Syzygium polyanthum) on increased cholinesterase (CHE) levels. Qualitative research with pre-experimental design one group pre-test-post test. As a population is a group of farmers in the Pasuruan area. The sample size in this study was 20 respondents using purposive sampling techniques. The research procedure is to measure cholinesterase levels in the blood before and after steeping bay leaves (Syzygium polyanthum) after 15 days. The data were analyzed by paired t-test. There was an increase in average blood cholinesterase levels of 399.35 U/L after 15 days of regular consumption. Blood cholinesterase levels before treatment were 5,301.25 U/L and after treatment became 5,700.00 U/L. The paired t-test results showed a significance value of p = 0.000. The average working time of the participants 18.5 years is very likely to have a lot of pesticide residues in their bodies and cause disruption of the normal function of several organs, causing mild and severe health problems. Bay leaf steeping (syzygium polyanthum)has been shown to increase cholinesterase (CHE) levels. To avoid the threat of health problems, farmers should diligently consume steeping bay leaves regularly.

Abstract

Post-stroke patients often experience anxiety and sleep disorders that can hinder the recovery process. Improvement in sleep quality increases with decreasing anxiety; activation of alpha and theta waves can reduce anxiety. This study evaluates the effectiveness of pure crystal vibration waves in activating alpha and theta waves in decreasing anxiety, which has implications for improving sleep quality in post-stroke patients. This study used a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group design. The sample consisted of 30 post-stroke patients divided into two groups. Pure crystal vibration wave therapy intervention was given 30 minutes per day for 2 weeks in the treatment group; the control group was not given intervention. Anxiety was measured using the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HARS), and sleep quality was calculated using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI). Data were analyzed using paired t-tests and independent t-tests. There was a significant decrease in anxiety scores (p = 0.001) and an increase in sleep quality (p = 0.001) in the intervention group compared to the control group. The frequency of pure crystal vibration waves effectively activates alpha and theta waves to indicate decreased anxiety, which has implications for improving the sleep quality of post-stroke patients.

Abstract

Stroke continues to be a leading cause of long-term disability and the most common and disabling of such disabilities is motor impairments. Return of motor function is essential to independence in activities of daily living. Intensive physical and occupational therapy are applied widely to promote neuroplasticity and motor response; however, there is a scarcity of evidence on their effectiveness. To review Effectiveness of Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy on Motor Function Recovery in Stroke Patients . The research methodology used in this study is systematic review. A systematic search was undertaken in major databases, for the period 2019-2025. Included trials were randomised controlled trials of physical, occupational therapy, or combined interventions in adult stroke patients with assessment of motor outcome by standardised instruments. Narrative synthesis was undertaken and results were summarised by type of intervention. Fifteen studies met inclusion criteria which included robot-assisted training, mirror therapy, task-oriented training, exoskeleton-based therapy, and virtual reality. Most interventions were significantly better than conventional therapy or usual care in terms of upper extremity motor function, daily activity independence, and quality of life. When delivered at subacute and with sufficient intensity, technology-assisted or combined approaches yielded greater benefit. Physical and occupational therapy are very important for motor recovery after a stroke. Recent evidence for the integration of task-oriented, mirror-based, and technology-assisted approaches into rehabilitation is reviewed for their potential to maximise functional outcome. More high-quality research is needed to determine when, how much and how to combine therapies.

Abstract

Penerapan latihan active cycle of breathing technique dilakukan selama 15 – 20 menit dalam 1 hari dilakukan 3 kali.
