Abstract

Pineapple fruit is widely consumed that impact on the waste produced. One of which is pineapple peel has a high cellulose content of around 69.5-71%. In this research, the synthesis of α-cellulose from pineapple peel was tings in order produce an adsorbent for Cd2+ metal ions. The prepared pineapple peel powder was delignified using 2% NaOH to remove lignin, were delignified again using 18% NaOH. The α-cellulose formed was bleached using 3.5% NaOCl. α-cellulose was hydrolyzed using H2SO4 with various concentrations of 2, 3 and 4%. The goal is to determine the optimum absorption of the adsorbent. Based on this research, it was found that the maximum adsorption capacity was obtained at 4% H2SO4 variation  which is 108 mg/g and an efficiency of 54%. The adsorption isotherm model on cellulose meets the assumptions of chemical, and physical adsorption as shown by the R2 value of 0.999. Chemical adsorption (Langmuir isotherm) is indicated by the reaction of the OH group with the metal ion Cd2+. Physical adsorption (Freundlich isotherm) that occurs at heterogeneous adsorption sites supported by changes in surface area (BET) values.

Abstract

Citrus microcarpa is one of the Rutaceae family plants which is commonly used for food industries to enhance aroma and flavor. This plant contains secondary metabolites such as terpenoids, flavonoids, and phenolics. Unfortunately, bioactivity information, specifically anti-termites from citrus seeds is unreported. The aim of this study was to determine anti termite activity of the methanol extract and fractions of the citrus seeds against Coptotermes curvignathus Holmgren. The research was carried out in several stages, starting from maceration, partitioning, phytochemical testing, and termite activity testing for 7 days. The results of the subterranean termite mortality test were justified based on the LC50 values, from the smallest to the largest values, respectively, chloroform fraction 1.689%, methanol fraction 1.783%, n-hexane fraction 1.788%, and methanol extract 2.324%. The results of termite mortality which reached 100% for each tested sample were due to the extract and fractions of the citrus seeds have antifeedant activities.

Abstract

Selasih ungu (Ocimum basilicum Linn.) merupakan salah satu tanaman endemik Kalimantan Barat yang berpotensi sebagai antioksidan alami. Penelitian kandungan kimia dan bioaktifitas pada tanaman selasih ungu telah banyak dilakukan khususnya pada bagian daun, akan tetapi informasi ilmiah pada bagian batang tanaman ini masih sangat terbatas. Penelitian dilakukan untuk mengidentifikasi golongan senyawa metabolit sekunder dengan uji fitokimia dan menentukan aktivitas antioksidan menggunakan metode DPPH terhadap ekstrak dan fraksi-fraksi batang tanaman selasih ungu. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa crude ekstrak metanol dan semua fraksi mengandung alkaloid dan tanin. Selain itu, crude ekstrak metanol juga mengandung flavonoid dan fenolik, fraksi diklorometana (DCM) mengandung flavonoid, dan pada fraksi metanol terkandung senyawa golongan fenolik. Nilai aktivitas antioksidan (IC50) berturut-turut untuk crudeekstrak metanol, fraksi n-heksana, fraksi DCM, dan fraksi metanol adalah 65,52 ppm, 98,11 ppm, 2,89 ppm, dan 67,11 ppm, sedangkan asam askorbat sebagai standar positif memiliki nilai IC50 11,75 ppm. Berdasarkan nilai-nilai aktivitas antioksidan tersebut diketahui fraksi DCM batang tanaman selasih ungu memiliki aktivitas antioksidan lebih kuat dibandingkan asam askorbat.

Abstract

Koperasi Konsumen Padaidi Sipatuo Khatulistiwa yang telah beranggotakan 30 orang memiliki potensi tenaga kerja dan potensi pasar dalam merintis unit usaha dan pemasarannya. Salah satu upaya yang dapat dilakukan adalah menjajaki jenis usaha yang mudah, biaya murah dan dapat digunakan oleh berbagai lapisan masyarakat, salah satunya adalah pengolahan sumber daya alam menjadi produk yang bernilai ekonomi. Salah satu potensi yang dapat dikembangkan adalah pemanfaatan kelapa dalam proses pembuatan Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO). VCO merupakan salah satu produk yang memiliki beragam manfaat, selain digunakan untuk menggoreng makanan, ternyata untuk keperluan kesehatan VCO dapat mencegah penyakit jantung, kanker, diabetes, memperbaiki pencernaan, meningkatkan sistem kekebalan tubuh, mencegah infeksi virus HIV, dan SARS. Potensi ini tentunya dapat dikembangkan oleh anggota koperasi, selain untuk memenuhi kebutuhan sendiri ataupun dapat dipasarkan sebagai salah satu jenis usaha produksi dan penjualan bagi Koperasi Konsumen Padaidi Sipatuo Khatulistiwa. Pelaksanaan PKM berlangsung di lokasi salah satu peserta yang merupakan anggota Koperasi Konsumsi Padaidi Sipatuo Khatulistiwa. Peserta yang hadir dalam kegiatan tersebut sebanyak 12 orang yang merupakan perwakilan dari anggota koperasi tersebut. Kegiatan PKM diawali dengan sambutan dari Perwakilan TIM PKM dan Ketua Koperasi, dilanjutkan pemaparan tentang Pembuatan VCO dari Kelapa Dalam. Pada materi ini juga dijelaskan bagaimana manfaat VCO bagi kesehatan dan kendala apa saja yang dihadapi dalam pembuatan VCO. Hasil kegiatan akan dipublikasikan pada jurnal pengabdian atau dalam bentuk hak cipta film dokumenter.

Abstract

Spons Haliclona sp. termasuk ke dalam kelas Demospongiae yang memiliki kandungan metabolit sekunder berupa alkaloid, terpenoid, fenolik, dan steroid. Metabolit sekunder tersebut dapat berperan sebagai antibakteri, antikanker, antiinflamasi, dan antivirus. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengarakterisasi metabolit sekunder dan menguji aktivitas antibakteri fraksi etil asetat terhadap Staohylococcus aureus menggunakan metode difusi sumuran. Hasil interpretasi FTIR pada isolat menunjukkan adanya serapan gugus O-H melebar (3448,72 cm-1), =C-H (3016,67 cm-1), C-H alifatik (2927,94 cm-1), C-O alkohol (1118,71 cm-1); C=C olefin (1631,78 cm-1) C-X halogen (617,22- 410,84). Kehadiran gugus-gugus fungsi tersebut dan hasil uji fitokimia dapat diduga bahwa isolat merupakan senyawa olefin dari kelompok terpenoid. Hasil uji aktivitas antibakteri menunjukkan bahwa fraksi etil asetat menghambat bakteri Staphylococcus aureus pada konsentrasi 50 µg/µL dan 25 µg/µL masing-masing menunjukkan kapasitas kuat dalam menghambat bakteri, sedangkan pada konsentrasi 12,5 µg/µL terindikasi lemah; dan 6,25 µg/µL tidak menunjukkan aktivitas dalam menghambat bakteri S. aureus.  Hasil uji fitokimia fraksi etil asetat memberikan respon positif untuk senyawa terpenoid dan alkaloid.

Abstract

Lansium domesticum has three varieties and one of the varieties is kokosan. These plants contain limonoids as the main constituents. Phytochemical investigation of L. domesticum cv kokosan has identified onoceranoids-type triterpenoids and tetranortriterpenoids from the seeds, fruit peels, and bark except for the root. This research described dukunolide D (1) that has been obtained from the methanol extract of the root of kokosan. Methanol root extract was fractioned by n-hexane and dichloromethane (DCM). All fractions including the crude extract were screened for phytochemical test. The DCM fraction was chromatographed in order to obtain compound 1. DART-HRMS of compound 1 showed a positive ion peak at m/z 469.1861 [M+H]+ (calculated 469.1862 corresponding for C26H29O8). The structure of 1 was fully determined by 1D (1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, and DEPT-135) and 2D NMR (COSY, HSQC, HMBC, and NOESY), and by comparison with data from literature.

Abstract

Aedes aegypty is the main vector for transmitting the disease (Dangue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF). The use of larvicide is one method of vector control. In order to reduce the impact of excessive use of synthetic larvicide, it is necessary to develop a natural larvicide by utilizing the n-hexane fraction of cocosan roots (Lansium domesticum Corr var kokosan). The aim of this study was to determine the larvicidal activity and toxicity of the n-hexane fraction of kokosan roots (Lansium domesticum Corr var kokosan) based on the LC50 value with the probit method. There were nine types of treatment including five concentrations of n-hexane fraction of cocosan roots (10; 250; 500; 750; 1000 ppm) as the treatment group, two positive controls (abate and n-hexane pa), and two negative controls (water and water + tween 80). The larvicidal activity test used 15 third instar Aedes aegypti larvae for each test. Meanwhile, the toxicity test used the BSLT method with 15 Artemia salina larvae in the nauplia phase per test. The number of larval deaths was explained by the LC50 value using the probit method. The results of larvacide activity and toxicity tests were 664,02 ppm and 2795,48 ppm, based on LC50. These results indicate that the n-hexane fraction of kokosan roots has moderate activity and is not toxic.

Abstract

The community has used Tabernaemontana macrocarpa Jack for traditional medicinal purposes such as toothaches, herpes, scabies, and also as poison on arrowheads. This research aims to isolate and characterize the structure of alkaloid compounds in the methanol extract of Tabernaemontana macrocarpa Jack. Extraction was carried out through maceration using methanol as the solvent. The methanol extract was partitioned using n-hexane, dichloromethane, and ethyl acetate. Fractionation was performed using gravity column chromatography, where silica gel was employed as the stationary phase, and a mixture of n-hexane-dichloromethane and dichloromethane-methanol with increasing polarity was used as the mobile phase. At this stage, nine combined fractions were obtained. Fractions that tested positive for alkaloid compounds were further separated using the preparative TLC method. The resulting isolate was a light yellow powder weighing 4 mg. The isolated compound was further characterized using 1H-NMR spectroscopy. The analysis results from the 1H-NMR spectrum suggest that the isolate is an indole alkaloid compound. Based on the 1H-NMR data, the isolate from fraction seven exhibited chemical shift values consistent with those of taberniacin, an indole alkaloid previously reported from Tabernaemontana divaricata.

Abstract

Kelurahan Sedau terletak di wilayah Selatan Kota Singkawang Kalimantan Barat. Daerah Teluk Majantu sebagai lokasi kegiatan Pengabdian Kepada Maysarakat (PKM) berada di wilayah pesisir Kelurahan Sedau. Mata pencaharian utama warganya adalah nelayan namun banyaknya pohon kelapa yang tumbuh di pesisir Teluk Majandi menjadi pontesi sumber daa alam yang dapat meningkatkan perekonomian masyarakatnya. Masyarakat Teluk Majantu sebagian besar bergabung pada Kelompok sadar Wisata (POKDARWIS) yang aktivitasnya tidak hanya tentang pengelolaan wisata tetapi juga pengolahan sumber daya alam menjadi produk yang bernilai ekonomi. Kegiatan PKM diawali dengan orientasi lapangan tim pengabdi ke lokasi kegiatan untuk mengidentifikasi masalah mitra, kesepakatan teknologi yang akan diimplementasikan serta penjadwalan PKM. Sehubungan dengan kegiatan PKM yang telah dilakukan sebelumnya, maka warga kelompok sadar wisata menginginkan ada kegiatan pelatihan pembuatan Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO). Oleh karena itu Tim Pascasarjana Kimia FMIPA Untan berinisiatif melakukan kegiatan PKM di lokasi tersebut. PKM dilaksanakan melalui penyampaian materi oleh tim pengabdi dilanjutkan dengan praktek pembuatan VCO. Setelah pelaksanaan pelatihan selesai, dilanjutkan dengan tahapan evaluasi secara kuantitatif dengan menganalisis hasil kuisioner sebelum dan setelah kegiatan dilaksanakan. Berdasarkan respon positif dari warga yang diamati dari antusisme peserta saat pelaksanaan kegiatan, maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa kegiatan ini memiliki dampak positif untuk meningkatkan keterampilan peserta pelatihan.

Abstract

Kokosan (Lansium domesticum cv Kokossan) is one of the Meliaceae family plants known to produce various compounds with various activities. The Meliaceae family is known to have fruit seeds with a bitter taste that can be utilized as an antifeedant in insects. However, research on the bioactivity and content of secondary metabolites in the roots and bark of kokosan as termiticides against subterranean termites has never been reported. This study aims to determine the content of secondary metabolite compounds and test the anti-termite activity of extracts and fractions of kokosan root and stem bark against Coptotermes curvignathus Holmgren termites. Root and stem bark powder were macerated separately using methanol solvent and then fractionated to obtain n-hexane, dichloromethane, ethyl acetate, and methanol fractions (residue). Each extract and fraction was fed to termites through cellulose paper at a concentration of 5% for 3 days. Based on the results of phytochemical tests on extracts and fractions from the roots and bark of kokosan, it is known to contain alkaloid, flavonoid, terpenoid, and phenolic compound groups. The results of the anti-termite activity test are based on the percentage mortality value obtained by the methanol extract of the most active root with a value of 97.2% and paper weight loss of only 6.92%. In the ethyl acetate fraction of the roots, mortality was 84.4% and paper weight loss was 2.38%, and the n-hexane fraction of the stem bark showed mortality of 87.6% and paper weight loss of 2.20%. The kokosan root obtained has the most active activity against Coptotermes curvignathus Holmgren.
