Abstract

Srivijaya Kingdom is one of the strong maritime kingdoms on the island of Sumatra and has a lot of influence in the archipelago with a wide area of authority. However, in fact the Srivijaya Kingdom was actually the "youngest" kingdom in the archipelago by its invention, because the name of the Srivijaya Kingdom was only "dug up" and surfaced around the beginning of the 20th century after the discovery of several inscriptions. The earliest evidence of the existence of this kingdom comes from the 7th century, a Chinese priest from the Tang Dynasty, I Tsing, wrote that he visited Srivijaya in 671 and stayed for 6 months. Furthermore, the oldest inscription about Srivijaya was also in the 7th century, namely the Kedukan Bukit inscription in Palembang, dated 682. There are many historical sources stating the existence of the Srivijaya Kingdom and its territories. However, there is no single source that clearly tells where the center of this Sriwijaya Kingdom lies. In this case, experts also differed opinions regarding the existence of the center of the Srivijaya Kingdom.

Abstract

This study examines the content validity and presentation of historical electronics modules (HEM) based on higher-order thinking skills developed with the ADDIE model for class XII high school students in Indonesia. In addition, the assessment of the effectiveness of the module on improving critical and analytical thinking skills through a competency test. The research method used is a mixed-method with research and development and experimental designs, starting from the development of the electronic history module and starting from Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The results showed that the validity of the content and presentation from the experts and the users, in this case, students were very valid, so HEM was very suitable. The effectiveness test results showed increased students’ ability to think critically and analytically as an indicator of higher-order thinking. The electronic developed with a higher-order thinking approach can improve students’ ability to think critically and analytically in learning history independently. Cite this article: Najuah, Sidiq, R., Azhari, I., Lukitoyo, P.S. Abstract

Medan City is the capital of North Sumatra Province which of course is on the island of Sumatra. The city of Medan as the third largest metropolitan capital in Indonesia also has a long history that started from a village whose initial opening was the size of a field opened by Guru Patimpus Pelawi who came from the Karo ethnicity who until now is known as the founder of the city of Medan. And in subsequent developments this city was dominated by ethnic Malays since the founding of the Deli Sultanate by Gocah Pahlawan who came from the Aceh Sultanate which made Medan until now still known as Tanah Deli or Medan Deli and at a time not much different, a person from the Colonial nation (Dutch ) named Jacob Nienhyus around the 1860s established plantations especially for tobacco commodities which almost covered the city of Medan so that in the term Medan Putri was known or the producer of Deli Tobacco which was famous to foreign countries at that time. With the area of the plantation, of course, workers were needed, so Nienhyus brought in a large number of coolies from ethnic Chinese and of course the coolies needed a place to live. Until then the Kesawan area that we know today was formerly a Malay village which was then a result of the large influx of Chinese letnics making this area subsequently dominated by ethnic Chinese who then built houses in the form of shops and started businesses by trading and several administrative office buildings Colonialism also exists in the area as we can see to this day, both the buildings that still function as housing complexes and the remains of the ruins of the building's foundations. And until now this area has become one of the historic iconic locations in the city of Medan, especially at night decorated with various street lights that illuminate this area to just relax and even become a background in documentation for selfies to become a culinary center.

Abstract

This study evaluates the prevalence of Lower Order Thinking Skills (LOTS) and Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) questions in Indonesian History textbooks for twelfth-grade students. Utilizing a quantitative research methodology, the study analyzes the first-semester evaluation questions from textbooks published by the Ministry of Education and Culture, Erlangga, and Grafindo. Employing descriptive statistical techniques, the analysis reveals distinct disparities in the balance of LOTS and HOTS questions. Specifically, the Erlangga textbook contains 82.6% LOTS and 17.4% HOTS questions, while the Grafindo textbook shows a distribution of 96.7% LOTS and 3.3% HOTS questions. Furthermore, a comparative assessment of descriptive questions shows that the Ministry of Education and Culture’s textbook exhibits a ratio of 38.9% LOTS to 61.2% HOTS, Erlangga has 73.4% LOTS to 26.6% HOTS, and Grafindo features 90% LOTS to 10% HOTS. The findings indicate a significant underrepresentation of HOTS-based questions in the analyzed textbooks, suggesting a potential gap in fostering higher-level cognitive skills among students.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the level of understanding of secondary school teachers in the Deli Serdang area regarding differentiated learning in the Independent Curriculum that applies in Indonesia. This research is quantitative survey research. Population: The subjects of this research were high school teachers in Deli Serdang Regency, totalling 366 people, with a sample of 216 people selected by random sampling. Data was collected through a survey using a closed questionnaire. The data analysis technique uses the Mann-Whitney test to see differences in teachers' understanding of differentiated learning in public and private schools participating in the Driving School Program. The research results show that the level of teacher understanding of differentiated learning in private schools is moderate, and the level of understanding of teachers in state schools is in the high category. Based on the Driving School Program, which does not differentiate between the status of public and private schools in funding and program assistance, differences in understanding occur due to several internal and external factors found in schools, such as principal leadership, teacher competency, and different teacher statuses in the two types of schools. In conclusion, the Mobilizing School Program provides the same treatment in public and private schools and has the same programs and assistance. However, teachers' understanding of learning varies, which certainly impacts the learning process and learning outcomes.

Abstract

The problem of waste management in Ciputri Village triggers environmental pollution and low community welfare due to the lack of awareness of sorting waste from the source and the weak institution of waste banks. This Community Service activity aims to increase the technical and managerial capacity of The Youth Organization (Karang Taruna) as a driver of empowerment-based waste bank management. The approaches carried out include institutional assistance, technical training in waste sorting and processing, continuous education, and implementing an incentive-based waste savings system. The results of the activities showed a significant increase in community participation, management skills, and the effectiveness of waste bank management, including the formation of a clear organizational structure and SOPs. This program reduces landfill waste, increases residents' income, and strengthens recycling networks. The program's sustainability is recommended through follow-up mentoring, diversification of recycled products, and multi-stakeholder collaboration.
