Abstract

This study aims to examine the values of Islamic education contained in the khitbah hadith and its relevance in the digital era. The transformation of technology and social media in the digital era has changed the way individuals interact, including in the marriage proposal process. This study uses a qualitative method based on library research to explore the adaptation of the educational values of the khitbah hadith in facing digital challenges. The results of the study identified the main educational values in the khitbah hadith, namely maintaining intentions and goals, honor and modesty, openness, avoiding immorality, not interfering with other people's khitbah, careful consideration, and joint family decisions. In the digital context, these values are contextualized into maintaining intentions and integrity on digital platforms, using technology wisely, maintaining sharia restrictions in virtual spaces, and increasing openness and transparency through technology. This research has important implications in providing practical guidance for young Muslims to manage pre-marital interactions and relationships while adhering to the values of Islamic education in the digital era. In addition, this research also provides insights for Islamic educators, scholars and practitioners to develop learning materials that are relevant to the current digital situation, as well as integrating technology in Islamic education that is able to maintain and strengthen the values of Sharia. Thus, the values in the khitbah hadith can become an ethical foundation in responding to modern challenges without abandoning Islamic principles.

Abstract

The relationship between religion and society in Indonesia is deeply embedded in the daily lives of its citizens, influencing social interactions, political participation, and cultural dynamics. This interconnection encourages active cooperation and mutual understanding between religious groups, fostering an environment of shared aspirations. However, in the contemporary context, the intersection of religion and politics has become increasingly aligned with the political identity of the population, often complicating interfaith relations. This study explores the political identity of Indonesian citizens in relation to their religious affiliations, emphasizing how these identities shape public interactions and influence societal harmony. Using a qualitative approach with literature-based data, this research analyzes how identity politics in Indonesia is articulated and expressed in a manner that could potentially disrupt the inter-religious relationships established over time. The findings suggest that the expression of identity politics remains immature and poorly executed, which threatens the interfaith harmony that Indonesia has long nurtured. Therefore, identity politics must be approached and articulated in alignment with universal principles and the common good to ensure peaceful coexistence and national unity.

Abstract

The duty to maintain the authenticity of the Quran through verbal transmission is a collective obligation for every Muslim. However, several groups of Muslim scholars marginalize the role of women in the transmission of the Quran due to some fiqh rules. Various ethical-legal-formal rules governing women's association in the public space have limited women's access to the transmission process. This study explains the biographical evidence of women's marginalization, the causal factors restricting women's access to the transmission, and the implications and legal strategies women used to overcome these fiqh rules constraints. This is library research with a feminist approach and descriptive analysis. Data collection was carried out by observing literature through library research related to the role of women in the transmission of the Quran. This study showed women's marginalization due to an understanding of gender-biased Islamic doctrines regarding seclusion, prohibitions on traveling and mixing with men (ikhtilāṭ), and the doctrine of women's voices as awrah. Under these conditions, women develop some legal stratagems to break through these religious doctrines. This study recommends using the maqashid al-sharī'ah approach in resolving the problem of marginalization of women in the transmission of the Qur'an.Abstrak:Kewajiban menjaga otentisitas Al-Qur’an melalui transmisi verbal merupakan kewajiban kolektif bagi setiap Muslim, baik laki-laki maupun perempuan. Namun, peran perempuan dalam transmisi Al-Qur'an masih terpinggirkan karena adanya sejumlah pembatasan aturan fiqih yang yang membatasi akses perempuan dalam proses transmisi. Studi ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi bentuk-bentuk marginalisasi perempuan dalam transmisi Al-Qur’an, faktor-faktor penyebab, serta strategi hukum yang digunakan perempuan untuk mengatasi kendala-kendala tersebut. Studi ini merupakan studi pustaka dengan pendekatan feminis. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan pengamatan literatur melalui library research terkait peran perempuan dalam transmisi Al-Qur’an. Studi ini menunjukkan bahwa marginalisasi juru baca perempuan mewujud bentuk eksklusi nama-nama juru baca perempuan dari koleksi biografis juru baca Al-Qur’an dan mata rantai sanad Al-Qur’an, serta larangan perempuan untuk membaca Al-Qur’an di ruang publik. Marginalisasi terjadi akibat adanya sejumlah aturan fiqih yang membatasi pergaulan perempuan di ruang publik, seperti perintah pemingitan, larangan bepergian dan bercampur dengan laki-laki asing, serta stigma suara perempuan aurat. Meski demikian, pembatasan-pembatasan tersebut menginspirasi juru baca perempuan untuk mengembangkan strategi hukum guna mengatasi halangan-halangan normatif tersebut. Studi ini merekomendasikan penggunaan pendekatan maqashid al-shari’ah dalam menyelesaikan problem marginalisasi perempuan dalam transmisi Al-Qur’an.

Abstract

As an Islamic educational institution, the role of Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) has been re-questioned following the emergence of numerous acts of terrorist violence in Indonesia, some of which were perpetrated by individuals who admitted to being graduates of such schools. These institutions are labeled as breeding grounds for terrorism due to their curriculum, which allegedly teaches jihad ideology that legitimizes violence. This stigmatization requires further analysis to objectively present the understanding of jihad within the pesantren world. This article is the result of research conducted at Al-Islah Islamic Boarding School in Dadapan Village, Grujugan District, Bondowoso Regency. Sebagai lembaga pendidikan Islam, peran pesantren mulai dipertanyakan kembali sejak munculnya berbagai aksi kekerasan terorisme di Indonesia, di mana sebagian pelakunya mengaku sebagai lulusan pesantren. Lembaga ini ditandai sebagai tempat berkembangnya terorisme karena kurikulumnya mengajarkan ideologi jihad yang melegalkan kekerasan. Stigmatisasi tersebut perlu dianalisis lebih lanjut agar paham jihad dalam dunia pesantren dapat ditampilkan secara objektif. Artikel ini merupakan hasil penelitian yang dilakukan di Pondok Pesantren Al-Islah, Desa Dadapan, Kecamatan Grujugan, Kabupaten Bondowoso.

Abstract

The developments that continued until the 19th century were the starting point for the revival of the Arab world. A strong desire to rise to what is called the era of modernity. One form of responding to the progress of knowledge in Islamic studies is the emergence of academics or researchers with various innovations they promote. One of them is Muhammad Syahrur. He is a well-known reformer in the world of interpretation of the Qur’an and Hadith. The breakthroughs made in reinterpreting the texts made him a barometer for analyzes in studying the texts of the Qur'an and Hadith. The empirical framework of thinking through the hudud theory approach which is used as an approach in interpreting the Qur’an makes him a progressive Islamic figure who tries to escape the influence of the hegemony of classical interpretation which he considers no longer able to answer the problems of the reality of a quite dynamic society. This research will focus on Syahrur's perspective in reinterpreting the concept of the veil in the Qur’an. This research will attempt to reveal the differences between Syahrur's interpretation and classical ulama and how it is relevant to the realities of contemporary society.

Abstract

Tulisan ini membahas tentang pemikiran tokoh Nasr Hamid Abu Zayd tentang pandangannya mengenai tektualitas al-Qur’an dan konsep ma’na cum maghza-nya. Wacananya tentang tekstualitas al-Qur’an  yang menganggap teks al-Qur’an merupakan produk budaya (muntaj tsaqafi) selalu menjadi polemik tersendiri di kalangan pegiat tafsir Qur’an. Begitupun dengan konsep ma’na cum maghza yang ditawarkannya dianggap dapat mengkontekstualisasikan teks dengan masa kini dan menjadi trobosan solusi untuk menjawab persoalan-persoalan kekinian yang belum mampu terpecahkan. Adapun tujuan tulisan ini adalah untuk mengulas lebih dalam mengenai apa yang melatarbelakangi Nasr Hamid Abu Zaid dalam  pandangannya terhadap al-Qu’an, dan bagaimana pengertian konsep ma’na cum maghza serta penerapannya. Tulisan ini berjenis studi pustaka (library research), yakni tulisan yang penelusuran dan penelaahannya berasal dari bahan-bahan tertulis berupa buku, artikel jurnal, naskah-naskah dan karya tulis lainnya. Adapun kesimpulan dalam tulisan ini, Nasr Hamid dalam pandangannya mengenai tekstualitas al-Qur’an menganggap teks al-Qur’an merupakan produk budaya (muntaj tsaqafi). Hal ini dikarenakan dalam pandangannya al-Qur’an yang diwahyukan kepada Nabi Muhammad SAW selama lebih dari 20 tahun tidak pernah lepas dari situasi dan kondisi sosial-budaya masyarakat Arab yang melingkupinya yang menjadi objek diturunkannya al-Qur’an. sedangkan konsep ma’na cum maghza yang ditawarkan untuk menjadi pendekatan baru dalam memaknai teks al-Qur’an menjadi hal positif tersendiri dalam dunia tafsir kontemporer, hal ini lantaran teori ini dapat mengkontekstualisasikan teks dengan kondisi kekinian.
