Abstract

A paradigm shift in waste management needs to be carried out in a sustainable manner. Education regarding residents' awareness and skills in applying the principles of reduce, reuse, recycle, and replant (4R) is very important to deal with waste problems from the source. Waste banks that involve women's participation serve as social capital in community-based management. In Nagari Pungguang Kasiak, Padang Pariaman Regency, Indonesia, a waste bank is implemented by integrating the 4R principles through the collection and sorting of dry waste, managed with a banking-like system, where what is saved is waste, not money. Community empowerment is carried out through counseling, education, and training with emancipatory participation methods, as well as interactive dialog within the community. In addition, building partnerships and cooperation mechanisms between waste bank managers and stakeholders is very important. The Sehati Waste Bank in Nagari Pungguang Kasiak has provided tangible benefits to the community, such as reducing waste volume, improving environmental cleanliness, and increasing economic independence. The economic benefits obtained from waste savings also contribute to electricity payments and food purchases. This program plays a role in creating a cleaner, greener, and healthier environment. With integrated waste management, community creativity and innovation can be encouraged, thereby improving the overall welfare of residents.

Abstract

Nagari Parambahan, located in Bukit Sundi District, Solok Regency, West Sumatra, has tremendous natural and cultural potential, but it still confronts obstacles in employing contemporary technologies for the benefit of the community. Using eco-friendly technologies, the Smart Green House design is suggested as a way to boost agricultural productivity. The urgency of this program is to empower the community with contemporary agricultural technology, which is predicted to boost agricultural production as well as economic and social wellbeing. In addition, the importance of education on sustainable agriculture is also a major focus, intending to preserve the environment. In the implementation of this Smart Green House, the aquaponics system is also introduced as an innovative technology that combines fish and plant farming in one integrated system. Aquaponics not only significantly reduces land and water usage, but also provides higher quality agricultural produce by utilizing fish waste as plant nutrients. By utilizing this technology, farmers can optimize production with higher efficiency, in line with the principles of sustainable agriculture. The program's objectives include increasing the utilization of modern technology in agriculture, empowering communities with agricultural technology knowledge and skills, and increasing agricultural production and economic welfare. The program also focuses on education about sustainable agriculture and forming a better community personality through empowerment. The targeted outputs of this program are the implementation of a functioning and useful Smart Green House, increased community knowledge and skills in modern agricultural technology, and a significant increase in agricultural yields. This program is also expected to be a model that can be applied in other areas. With collaboration and support from various parties, this program has the potential to provide great benefits to the people of Nagari Parambahan and become an example for other regions in utilizing agricultural technology for community welfare.

Abstract

Utilizing limited land for agricultural activities in urban areas is an effective alternative solution in providing healthy food for families, while reducing household costs. Aquaponic systems, which integrate fish and plant farming in a mutually beneficial recirculating ecosystem, utilize natural bacteria to convert fish waste and feed residues into nutrients for plants. Thus, aquaponics allows plants and fish to grow together in one cycle, maximizing the use of a small area of land. This service activity aims to help the Women Farmers Group (KWT) find the right solutions and strategies in overcoming the problem of limited land. One of these efforts is the creation of an innovative device in the form of a simple aquaponics system for the Jirak Serumpun Women Farmers Group, using the Deep Flow Technique (DFT) method. The aquaponics program implemented in Mata Air Village, Padang Selatan Sub-district, Padang City, has had a positive impact on the community. This training not only provides economic and social benefits, but also offers an effective solution in utilizing narrow yards productively and economically.
