Abstract

Sustainability-oriented innovation (SOI) is particular type of innovation that is not only economically oriented, but also environmental- and social benefits-oriented. SOI is now being widely discussed due to the increasing environmental and social problems that accompany various innovations around the world. In this paper we conducted a systematic review of empirical literature regarding SOI in the Asia Pacific region, which were discussed through network perspectives. For network perspectives, researchers focused on process view to explain how SOI is mobilised and practised throughout different social, institutional, and political contexts. We chose the Asia Pacific as the context because the region is the most dynamic part of the global economy, with ASEAN being the prominent parts of it. In conducting the review, we used the Tranfield, Denyer, & Smart's protocol (2003) to ensure its rigorousness. The search focused on the academic database of Scopus with specific inclusion and exclusion criteria. The results show that SOI has been rapidly developing into practices in countries in the Asia Pacific, not only in profit sectors, but also in non-profit sectors such as government and community. Our review emphasised that actor-network theory (ANT) emerged as the currently most adopted framework to explain the dynamics process of SOI mobilisations and practices in the Asia Pacific region. ANT frameworks contribute to defining the structure of SOI networks as well as identifying social, institutional, and political challenges of SOI implementation. Regionally, the focus of the study so far is in North America (US and Canada), while studies in ASEAN are still very limited.

Abstract

Abstract

Management research is critical to the advancement of management studies and practice in Indonesia. The aim of this study is to explore the landscape of management research in Indonesia. This study uses a bibliometric approach with data collected from the international academic database. In our analysis, among others, we refer to the classical categorization of business functions and macro clusters or special interest groups from leading management associations. The study results show that the management research landscape in Indonesia can be grouped into six categories, namely ‘operations management’, ‘financial management, ‘marketing management’, ‘human resource management, ‘strategy and entre- preneurship’, and ‘performance and governance’. This is the first study that explores the management research landscape in the Indonesian context..

Abstract

Information and communication technology (ICT) has become an indispensable part of daily life, including in business. ICT is a technology that is used to analyze, store, and disseminate information, as well as to encourage interconnected and efficient operations in order to support better business performance. This study aims to examine the differences in business growth between companies that used and did not use information and communication technology (ICT). The study takes place on Sumatera Island in Indonesia. Sumatera was chosen because, despite being Indonesia's second most important economic contributor after Java, its ICT development index is low in comparison to other regions. This study made use of the most recent wave of public data from the World Bank's Enterprise Survey for Indonesia. The Enterprise Survey surveyed 194 companies in two provinces: North Sumatera Province and Lampung Province. Chi-square and the Mann-Whitney U Test were used to analyze the data. According to the findings, ICT is more commonly used in large corporations, while it is less commonly used in SMEs. The business growth of companies that use and do not use email differed significantly, whereas the difference in website utilization was insignificant. The minor difference in website usage can be attributed to the growing popularity of intermediaries in innovative e-commerce platforms.
