Abstract

Problems with mental disorders can occur from childhood, adolescence, adulthood and old age, if not handled or treated will cause severe mental disorders that cause decreased productivity and burden the family. Mental disorder is a chronic disease that requires a long process of healing. The process of recovery and healing in people with mental disorders requires family support to determine the success of the recovery. There is a negative stigma against ODGJ (People with Mental Disorders) and their families causing ODGJ and their families to be isolated. For the family, stigma will cause a heavy psychological burden so that it has an impact on the inadequate support provided by the family in the ODGJ recovery process. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between family stigma and caregiver burden in caring for patients with mental disorders at the mental hospital polyclinic in Jambi province. This research is a quantitative study with a correlation design using a cross sectional approach. This research was conducted at the Jambi Province RSJD Polyclinic in September 2022-August 2023. The population was 597 people and the sample was 60 people. The samples in this study were families of mental patients accompanying outpatients at the Mental Hospital in Jambi Province. The research sample was taken using a purposive technique. sampling, and data collection was carried out using instruments (Internalized Stigma Mental Illnes) and Zarit Burden Interview (ZBI). Data analysis with univariate and bivariate analysis with statistical tests using chi square. The results of the study were obtained from 60 patient families, 32 patient families (53.3%) with high stigma and 30 patient families (50.0%) with mild to moderate family burden. Chi square value (sig) 0.003 <α 0.05. So it can be concluded that there is a relationship between family stigma and caregiver burden in the Inpatient Room of the Rumah Sakit Jiwa Provinsi Jambi.

Abstract

Family support is needed to improve the quality of life in type 2 DM patients. This study aims to identify the relationship between family support in terms of four dimensions (emotional, appreciation, instrumental and information) with the quality of life of type 2 DM patients at the Jambi City Health Center. The design in this study was cross-sectional analytic with a sample size of 120 patients with type 2 DM. Data analysis used Pearson's correlation coefficient, independent t-test and multiple linear regression. The results showed that the variables related to quality of life were age (p value 0.034; α 0.05), education (p value 0.001; α 0.05) and complications (p value 0.001; α 0.05). There is a relationship between family support in terms of four dimensions and quality of life (p value 0.001, α: 0.05). An increase in one family support unit will increase the quality of life by 35% after being controlled by education and DM complications. Nurses can increase family support with structured health education, facilitate the provision of family support as well as supervision and monitoring related to the application of family empowerment in providing nursing care to patients with type 2 DM

Abstract

Elderly individuals are defined as those aged 60 years and above. In general, aging is accompanied by a gradual decline in biological, psychological, social, and economic functions. One of the most common health problems among the elderly is Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA). RA is an autoimmune disease characterized by inflammation in the joints, particularly in the hands and feet, leading to pain, swelling, and often joint damage. Non-pharmacological therapy management can be applied to reduce pain and inflammation, maintain joint function, and prevent deformities. These include resting painful joints, maintaining an ideal body weight, ensuring adequate nutrition, applying warm compresses, and performing physiotherapy. Based on these considerations, this community service activity aimed to improve the health quality of the elderly and reduce pain intensity through the application of warm water and lemongrass compress therapy. The activity was conducted from March to August 2023, specifically on July 12–13, 2023, at Panti Sosial Tresna Werdha Budi Luhur Jambi. The participants consisted of 39 individuals (elderly residents and staff). The method used was direct simulation and demonstration on elderly participants experiencing pain. The results of the activity showed a reduction in pain intensity among all elderly participants following the intervention. The outcomes of this community service included an overall improvement in the quality of life of the elderly, a reduction in joint pain complaints, enhanced knowledge regarding herbal-based non-pharmacological therapy, and the strengthening of holistic nursing approaches in the elderly care setting. Additionally, this activity is planned for publication in a nationally accredited journal as part of the dissemination of community empowerment results.

Abstract

Nursing services play an essential role in improving the quality of healthcare, with nursing care documentation serving as a key indicator of nurses’ performance. However, documentation practices in many hospitals remain suboptimal and often fall below the required standards. This Community Service Program (PkM) aimed to improve the quality of nursing care documentation through training on the nursing process based on the 3S model (Indonesian Nursing Diagnosis Standards, Nursing Outcomes Standards, and Nursing Interventions Standards) at RSIA Annisa Pekanbaru. The training was conducted over one year using seminars and hands-on practice, involving 20 inpatient nurses and nursing students. Evaluation results showed an increase in participants’ knowledge from 90% (pre-test) to 100% (post-test) after receiving the training materials. Participants also demonstrated high enthusiasm in understanding the importance of applying the 3S model to enhance documentation quality. This program successfully improved nurses’ competencies and produced outputs such as a training module, a mass media publication, and a draft manuscript for submission to a nationally accredited journal. In conclusion, training on the nursing process using the 3S approach proved effective in improving the quality of nursing care documentation and supporting the professionalism of nurses in healthcare services

Abstract

Background: Electronic Nursing Documentation (EDN) practices in Class C hospitals are crucial for implementing the current care system. However, EDN practices in developing cities like Pekan Baru have not been fully implemented, and the factors influencing them remain poorly understood. Objectives: This study aims to analyze the factors influencing electronic nursing documentation among nurses in inpatient wards at Class C hospitals in Pekan Baru City. Methods: This is an observational, analytical, cross-sectional study. The study was conducted at three private Class C hospitals in Pekanbaru: Ibnu Sina Hospital, Syafira Hospital, and Sansani Hospital. Data were collected through questionnaires from 173 nurses who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Factors such as demographics, psychological conditions, job satisfaction, stress, personality, organizational factors, and work compensation systems were measured. Analysis used chi-square analysis followed by multiple logistic regression. Results: In this study, hospital type, age, education, biological stress, supervisory organizational factors, and rewards system were significantly associated (p-value < 0.05), while other factors were not. Multivariate analysis revealed that five variables significantly associated nurse documentation: age, education level, biological stress, supervision, and reward systems (p < 0.05). Supervisory organizational factors (OR = 15.429) and reward systems (OR = 8.657) were the most dominant. Conclusions: The finding indicate that supervision and institutional incentive system are significantly associated with electronic nursing documentation practice among nurse. Nurse with better supervision and more supportive reward systems tended to demonstrate improve documentation practices. These findings suggest that organizational factor may contribute to supporting electronic documentation, although further longitudinal or experimental studies are needed to confirm causality.

Abstract

Rheumatoid arthritis, a chronic inflammatory disease in the elderly, is characterized by pain, stiffness, and limited movement in the joints. One non-pharmacological effort that can be implemented is the application of warm water compresses and lemongrass decoction. The Community Service (PKM) activity aims to increase the elderly's knowledge regarding the management of rheumatoid arthritis pain and provide complementary therapy in the form of warm water compresses and lemongrass decoction. The activity was held at the Tresna Werdha Budi Luhur Social Home in Jambi, involving 40 participants, consisting of 35 elderly and 5 care workers. The method used was health education, discussions, demonstrations, and hands-on practice of applying warm water compresses and lemongrass decoction to elderly experiencing rheumatoid arthritis pain. Evaluation was conducted through observation of participant participation and the elderly's responses after the therapy. The results showed that 35 elderly reported reduced joint pain, increased physical comfort, and easier daily activities after receiving warm water compresses and lemongrass decoction. The care workers gained knowledge on how to administer the therapy so they could continue to apply it independently
