Abstract

The goal of this qualitative descriptive study is to understand how TGB Muhammad Zainul Majdi employed the rhetorical device of ethos (ethical appeals) to establish power/credibility and moderate speech. As a result, the researcher chose to focus on one of TGB Muhammad Zainul Majdi's most fascinating talks, specifically one that was given in Bali and attended by people from various socioeconomic classes, educational backgrounds, and even religious backgrounds. This is also a da'wah from the Archipelago TGB Muhammad Zainul Majdi in relation to the opening of the Wikondo pavilion. Discourse analysis is the data analysis technique that is being employed. It consists of three parts: transcription of speech from video sources, coding of language elements, and classification and inference. Based on the results of the document analysis of the transcription of speech using discourse analysis, it was found that TGB Muhammad Zainul Majdi used the similitude approach to conduct ethical appeal and attract listeners. In that case, similitude is widely used by employing the subject pronoun we, both inclusive and also inferential subject pronoun we. Then moderate speech to convey the message wisely and well is born from the delivery of TGB Muhammad Zainul Majdi.

Abstract

This library study aims to examine the effect of Islamic education philosophy on the emotional intelligence development of Muslim students. This study highlights the potential synergy between Islamic education philosophy and the components of emotional intelligence through a systematic review of relevant literature. Existing literature suggests that the Islamic education philosophy, with its emphasis on moral values, character development, self-awareness, and interpersonal skills, can foster emotional intelligence in Muslim students, although few empirical studies investigate this relationship specifically. The findings highlight the need for additional empirical research to establish causal relationships and identify effective strategies for integrating Islamic education principles into educational practices to improve emotional intelligence. Future studies can contribute to evidence-based practices that promote emotional intelligence within Islamic educational contexts by incorporating cultural and contextual factors and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, thereby enhancing the overall well-being and success of Muslim students.

Abstract

Saat ini, permainan menjadi alat pengajaran paling populer untuk mempelajari kosakata bagi pelajar muda karena menyenangkan. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas penggunaan permainan isyarat dalam meningkatkan penguasaan kosakata di kelas lima MI NWDI Serijata. Pre-test dan post-test satu kelompok digunakan dalam desain pra-eksperimental untuk penelitian ini. Partisipannya adalah 25 siswa kelas V MI NWDI Serijata sebagai sampel. Data dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan pilihan ganda dan dianalisis menggunakan SPSS versi 22 for Windows. Temuan penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa nilai rata-rata pre-test siswa adalah 40,64, sedangkan nilai rata-rata post-test siswa adalah 72,64. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa nilai rata-rata siswa meningkat sebelum dan sesudah perlakuan. Selanjutnya, Signifikansi Asimptotik (2-tailed) sebesar 0,00. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa hipotesis diterima karena nilai Asymp—signifikansi (2-tailed) < 0,05. Hasilnya, penggunaan permainan isyarat untuk mengajarkan kosakata kepada siswa kelas lima di MI NWDI Serijata efektif dalam penguasaan kosakata siswa. Mempertimbangkan proses dan hasil penelitian ini, peneliti merekomendasikan agar guru bahasa Inggris menerapkan strategi ini saat mengajar kosakata.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi penggunaan media pengajaran bahasa Inggris, yaitu Dictionary Box dan Card, dalam meningkatkan kosakata mahasiswa tunarungu di Universitas Hamzanwadi melalui pendekatan kualitatif. Partisipan dari penelitian ini adalah 3 orang pendamping/tutor tunarungu dalam program General English universitas hamzanwadi 2024 dan 4 siswa tunarungu. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskripsi kualitatif, penelitian ini melibatkan wawancara mendalam dan observasi langsung terhadap pendamping/tutor Bahasa inggris mahasiswa tunarungu pada program general English universitas hamzanwadi dan mahasiswa tunarungu dalam menggunakan Dictionary Box dan Card. Data dikumpulkan dari pengalaman dan persepsi mahasiswa serta pendamping/tutor mengenai kelebihan dan kendala dalam penggunaan Dictionary Box dan Card. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pendamping/tutor merasa media dictionary box and card mudah untuk diimplementasikan dalam mengajar kosakata Bahasa inggris bagi siswa tunarungu. Selain itu mahasiswa tunarungu juga merasa lebih cocok untuk menggunakan media dictionary box and card dalam menghafal kosakata Bahasa inggris. Faktor-faktor seperti keterlibatan aktif, visualisasi yang jelas, dan konteks penggunaan berperan penting dalam meningkatkan pemahaman kosakata. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa media Dictionary Box dianggap lebih efektif dalam mendukung pembelajaran kosakata bagi mahasiswa tunarungu didukung oleh dan penggunaan media yang mudah untuk digunakan dan juga kemampuan belajar mahasiswa tunarungu yang mengandalkan kemampuan visual. Temuan ini memberikan wawasan penting untuk pengembangan metode pengajaran bahasa Inggris yang lebih inklusif dan adaptif terhadap kebutuhan mahasiswa tunarungu.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui persepsi siswa terhadap penggunaan Artificial Intelligence (AI) Auris dalam subtitling. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Partisipan dari penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa Universitas Hamzanwadi yang memiliki pengalaman menggunakan AI Auris yang berjumlah empat orang. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa AI Auris memiliki beberapa kelebihan dan kekurangan seperti: waktu yang kurang atau efisien, kemudahan dalam penggunaan, mendapatkan nilai yang baik, akurasi yang kurang dari 100%, memberikan durasi yang pendek dan mengunggah video yang panjang. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa AI Auris atau bahkan AI lainnya akan memiliki kelebihan dan kekurangan, tetapi penggunaan Auris untuk subtitling cukup memuaskan bagi mahasiswa.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui keefektifan metode Task Based Learning dalam pembelajaran menulis di semester 2 Universitas Hamzanwadi. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain pre-eksperimen one group pre-test and post-test. Sampel penelitian ini adalah kelas 2D semester 2 yang berjumlah 18 siswa. Analisis deskriptif digunakan untuk mengungkap hasil yang berkaitan dengan keterampilan menulis mereka setelah penerapan TBL. Nilai rata-rata yang terungkap setelah pre-test dan post-test memiliki deviasi sebesar 49,72. Dengan demikian, Task Based Learning efektif secara signifikan dalam pembelajaran keterampilan menulis bahasa Inggris di semester 2 Universitas Hamzanwadi. Mempertimbangkan proses dan hasil penelitian ini, peneliti menyarankan agar guru bahasa Inggris menggunakan metode pengajaran ini dalam mengajar menulis.

Abstract

This study aimed to enhance eighth-grade students' vocabulary acquisition using Finding Word Games, employing a Classroom Action Research approach. Data was collected using observation sheets and vocabulary tests and analyzed with content analysis and measurement techniques. The study was conducted with 20 students (11 male and 9 female) in Class VIII C at SMP Santa Monika, Kubu Raya, West Kalimantan. In the first cycle, the average vocabulary test score was 65.4, with a 10% completion rate, and the highest score was 78. By the second cycle, the average score improved to 77.1, with an 80% completion rate, and a peak score of 85. This represented an 11.7-point increase in average scores and a 70% improvement in completion rates between cycles. Findings suggest that the integration of Finding Word Games as an instructional tool can significantly improve students' vocabulary learning, offering an engaging and effective method for vocabulary instruction.

Abstract

Studies on General English topics that are pertinent to Generation Z are scarce, particularly in Indonesia. This study, thus, intends to examine the framework of questions on what the relevant general English topics are for Generation Z English learners. The census was implemented with quantitative-descriptive as an approach for this investigation. Additionally, this study used an online questionnaire shared using Google Forms to 680 first-year students out of 1560 targeted participants to collect data. The final statistics of this study were displayed by dividing the total number of responses into percentages using Microsoft Excel 2010. The findings of this analysis revealed that the topics of Introduction and Daily Activity were the most popular topics. Giving directions is also the least interesting subject, followed by describing places, procedural text, and reviews of popular tourist destinations. These topics are disliked for a variety of reasons, such as confusion, trouble understanding the language, limited vocabulary, beginner-level skills. Furthermore, the majority of the participants thought the topics of Introduction, Daily Activity, and Procedural Text (What to Need) were quite relevant. The reviews of tourist destinations and Living abroad, on the other hand, scored lower for relevancy. The results imply that Generation Z English learners favor subjects that are simple to study, have practical uses, and use basic, everyday language. Based upon the investigation, exploring potential strategies or approaches that could make these topics more engaging and relevant to Generation Z learners could also be explored in future research.
