Abstract

The high level of competition in the coal mining sector demands that companies optimize their strategies, technologies, and resources, including selecting the right vendors and partners, to survive and achieve maximum profit with minimal cost. The objective of this research is to select the best vendor for the procurement of wastewater quality monitoring at PT XYZ. The method used is the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). There are six criteria used in the vendor selection process: quality, cost, delivery, environment, safety, and morale. The weight of each criterion was obtained through a pairwise comparison process conducted by seven experts in supply management and occupational safety, using Saaty's scale. The consistency of judgments was verified using the Consistency Ratio (CR) calculation, and all comparison matrices met the CR threshold. Among five suppliers evaluated, Supplier 4 (coded as A4) emerged as the best vendor, achieving the highest overall weight across all criteria.

Abstract

An optimized scheduling system is essential for poultry farming to balance fluctuating market prices with fluctuating feed prices. In poultry farms, input costs account for over 90% of total expenses, with 66% allocated to feed and 25% to day-old chick purchases. This article presents an optimization model for chicken harvesting, using broiler chicken farming as a case study. A broiler chicken farm in Central Java is currently operating below optimal profitability because of a lack of a systematic harvest scheduling strategy. The Integer Linear Programming model was developed to obtain an optimal harvest schedule to maximize income with respect to operational constraints. The optimization indicates that the proposed schedule increases farm profit by 12.41% per production cycle, leading to an estimated additional yearly revenue of IDR 40,062,029. Furthermore, the sensitivity analysis indicates that market price and feed cost are the most significant factors that influence profitability, with market price fluctuations impacting profit by up to 100.17% and feeding cost changes affecting profitability by 66.10%. Minimizing the price of 5% feed can lead to an increase of 66% in profit and vice versa. This paper presents a framework of structured decision-making for poultry farms to obtain the highest possible profit and minimize loss occurrence by utilizing an optimal harvesting schedule.

Abstract

The company has a problem of ineffectiveness in the layout of the raw material warehouse due to the use of storage methods that ignore factors such as the type, dimensions, and condition of the goods. This reduces the optimal function of the warehouse and increases the time to retrieve goods. This research aims to redesign the suitable and practical layout of the raw material warehouse by considering its form and function, as well as filling methodological gaps from previous research. The method used is class-based storage. Based on ABC analysis, the category with the highest value is class C goods, with 73 units. Meanwhile, from the fast, slow, non-moving (FSN) analysis, class F (fast-moving) goods have the highest frequency of movement, with a movement percentage of 63% for 10 units of goods. The warehouse slotting analysis shows an increase in the number of shelves from nine to 15 shelves with five different shelf models and layout changes in raw material warehouses 1 and 2. The class-based storage method results in a more organized layout, efficient movement of goods, and faster picking time to optimize warehouse functions.

Abstract

Background: Some construction workers are often in a situation where injuries can occur from negligence in the use of safety helmets. To avoid this, supervision of the use of safety helmets should be conducted continuously during the work process through the application of computer vision technology. However, the complex background of the construction environment is a challenge to detecting small and densely packed safety helmets accurately. Objective: The construction environment is complex, and the wide workspace allows workers to be in an area far from supervision. The process makes it difficult for models to detect the use of safety helmets in complex, wide, and very high object density construction environments. Therefore, this study aims to overcome the problem by modifying YOLOv5s (You Only Look Once version 5) architecture. Methods: Real-time monitoring of the use of safety helmets could be performed using YOLOv5. This study proposed a modified YOLOv5s model called CBTi-YOLOv5s. The model incorporated Convolutional Block Attention Module (CBAM), Transformer, and Bi-directional Feature Pyramid Network (BiFPN) to improve feature extraction, multi-scale object representation, as well as detection accuracy, specifically on small and high-density objects in complex construction environments. Results: The results showed the modified YOLOv5s architecture had made an improvement of 3.7% in mean average precision (mAP) compared to the base YOLOv5s model. mAP of the base YOLOv5s model was 93.6%, while the modified CBTi-YOLOv5s model achieved 97.3%. The proposed modified YOLOv5s model also achieved an inference speed of 58 frames per second (FPS), and the base model achieved 104 FPS. Conclusion: CBTi-YOLOv5s improved the accuracy, mAP, and ability to detect objects of varying scales. However, this improvement had drawbacks, namely increased model size and decreased inferential speed due to increased model architectural complexity.. Abstract

This study presents a supplier selection problem of a raw material using an analytical hierarchy process. In the existing process, the delivery of raw materials experienced delays and impacted the production process. Therefore, this paper aims to determine the criteria for supplier selection and provide recommendations for the best vendor to be selected from the last request for quotation document. Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP), as a multi-criteria approach, was utilized in this research, starting from determining criteria, the weight of criteria, and the final score for each supplier. Through discussions with the company’s expert, procurement department, and users, as well as a review of the previous studies, this research defined three criteria, each consisting of three sub-criteria. The AHP approach was utilized to evaluate and determine the weights for the three criteria, yielding the following results: quality (62%), price (28%), and delivery (10%). The identified criteria, sub-criteria, and respective weights are subsequently utilized in a supplier selection scenario. Three suppliers of mild steel raw materials were evaluated using the weights of the criteria and sub-criteria obtained. Supplier 1 was selected because of having the higher alternative value of 0.602. The use of AHP in supplier selection is often impractical and contains subjectivity. Therefore, further research can be performed by integrating AHP with other methods, such as weighted scoring, to facilitate further the vendor selection process and integration with other methods, such as fuzzy logic, to reduce subjectivity.

Abstract

Sales transaction data contains rich information potentially used to support company competitiveness. However, interpreting and utilizing transaction data in developing marketing strategies remains a challenge, even for big companies. Therefore, this research aims to develop marketing strategies using data mining techniques. A medium-sized company focusing on producing and selling traditional motif clothes (batik) will be used as a case study. The negative sales trend is the biggest issue currently faced by the company. Hypothetically, this problem is caused by imported products sold at lower prices or changing consumer behavior after pandemic covid. Currently, the company only implements simple analysis of its transaction data. The analysis of transaction data, conducted through five data mining stages, yielded a shift from purchasing small quantities to larger quantities, increased purchases during the final week of each month, and increased purchases on religious occasions. Furthermore, the analysis revealed that 31.29% of all transactions were attributed to loyal consumers, and 192 customers exhibited in Cluster 1 (high transaction quantities and high transaction values). Further investigation also revealed that customers categorized as loyal customers and Cluster 1 have different behaviors that can be used to develop further customer relationship programs. Future research can be conducted by employing data mining techniques to study the organization's assortment of products. Management discussions reveal that changes in consumer buying behavior extend to the selection of items and batik themes.

Abstract

Accurate assessment and thorough analysis of managerial performance are essential in obtaining enhanced business performance. A real-time monitoring system is necessary to support the decision-making process. This study aims to design a business intelligence dashboard containing real-time monitoring of water quality to support the decision-making of the management team of an agribusiness company. Four steps were used in designing the business intelligence (BI) dashboard: (1) scope and plan, (2) analyze and define, (3) architect and design, and (4) build, test, and refine. The study started with determining the scope and plan for developing the BI dashboard to monitor the water pond’s quality in real time. The requirements of system input and output were identified in the analyze and define phase. The data warehouse model and design visualization regarding the BI dashboard were determined in the architect and design step. The system's architecture was analyzed in the final step, build and test. Three months of data collection and interviews with the management team of the fishery company were performed to support each step in BI design. This study’s outcome is a BI dashboard providing real-time monitoring that supports the management team's decision-making process. This study still considers two water quality measures; therefore, future research can be conducted using other measures. Future research can also be performed on another agribusiness company to support the decision-making process and increase competitiveness.

Abstract

IMPROVING THE QUEUING SYSTEM OF HEALTHCARE FACILITY UNDER PRIORITY SERVED DISCIPLINE USING DISCRETE EVENT SIMULATIONAlthough discrete event simulation techniques have been extensively employed to enhance queuing systems in healthcare facilities, research on simulation methods that incorporate priority queuing discipline and decision-making with aspiration-level models remains limited. This research aims to provide a case study on improving the queuing system in health facilities considering a priority queuing discipline. In this study, the simulation was used due to the complex nature of the observed system. The system comprises first-come-first-served, priority-serve queuing disciplines and multi-channel single-phase and single-channel multi-phase queues. The preliminary analysis revealed that Polyclinic 2 and the Pharmacy had the longest waiting times in the queue, with average durations of 11.48 minutes and 11.38 minutes, respectively. Enhancements were implemented by adding one server into both service facilities and validating the simulation model. The simulation indicated a decrease in the average waiting time at Polyclinic 2 and Pharmacy service facilities to 4.36 seconds and 5.75 seconds, respectively. These results align with the desired expectations of patients and health center management, who aim for a maximum waiting time of 8.2 minutes and an idle server rate of 27%. This research contributes to the existing literature on applying simulation techniques to address queuing system issues in healthcare facilities and incorporating aspiration-level models into simulation models. Furthermore, the proposed model can be utilized by management to ascertain the optimal quantity of health facilities.
