Abstract

Clove leaves contain antioxidant compounds such as saponins, flavonoids, tannins, sterols, and essential oils. Among those chemical constituents, eugenol, eugenol acetate, caryophyllene, and sesquiterpenes were believed to have aphrodisiac activity. This study aims to investigate the potential aphrodisiac effects of the ethyl acetate fraction of clove leaves (Syzygium aromaticum L) administered at a dose of 250 mg/kg BW. The research employed an experimental method with a modified post-test randomized controlled group design and utilized a total of 45 white rats, consisting of 15 males and 30 females, divided into three treatment groups in a 1:2 ratio. Each group consisted of 5 male rats and 10 female rats. The three groups included the healthy control group (Na-CMC 0.5%), the positive control group (treated with X-Gra 52.5 mg/kg body weight) and the treatment group receiving clove leaf extract samples at a dosage of 250 mg/kg BW. The results indicate that the ethyl acetate fraction of clove leaves contains steroids and alkaloids with mount latency (ML), intromission latency (IL) ejaculation latency (EL), mount frequency (MF), intromission frequency (IF) and ejaculation frequency (EF) of 11.40 s, 15.80 s, 6.228 s, 23.60, 14.60, and 1.60 s, respectively. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that it has the potential to be used as an aphrodisiac agent. Keywords: Aphrodisiac, Syzygium Aromaticum L., ethyl acetate fraction, clove leaves, ejaculation frequency

Abstract

Pneumonia is a respiratory tract infection that causes coughing, difficulty breathing, sore throat, runny nose, earache, and fever, that caused by various kinds of bacteria, viruses, and fungi. This study aims to determine the accuracy of drug use in pneumonia patients based on indicators of the right dose, the right frequency and the right indication of the drug in the Inpatient Room of Anutapura Hospital Palu. This study was carried out using a cross sectional where data were collected retrospectively based on medical record data of ARI (Pneumonia) patients using a minimized sampling technique namely 30 samples based on the inclusion criteria. The results of this study showed that the most pneumonia patients were male, as many as 20 patients (67%). Meanwhile, based on the age range, the most age group affected namely the age of 1- 5 years, as many as 21 patients (70%). The results also showed that the most widely pneumonia drug used were antibiotics (32%), analgesics antipyretics (22%), corticosteroids (17%), and mucolytics (13%). This is in accordance with the recommendation of therapy from the Director General of Community and Clinical Bimfar 2005.

Abstract

Morinda citrifolia. L leaf is a plant that has the potential as an antioxidant due to the presence of compounds in the form of flavonoids and other phenolic compounds that can function as natural antioxidants. In connection with this, research was carried out to Morinda citrifolia. L formulate leaf extract in the form of effervescent granules. Morinda citrifolia leaf extract was macerated with ethanol 96% as solvent. Phytochemical screening showsthat the extract contains flavonoids, tannins, saponins and alkaloids. The extract was formulated with various concentrations of F1 (20%), F2 (25%), F3 (4%). Determination of antioxidant activity using the DPPH free radical immersion method. The results showed that the concentration in the granules influenced antioxidant activity with IC50 values of 109.05 ppm, 101.33 ppm and 73.28 ppm, respectively

Abstract

Abstract

Stunting is a disorder where the growth and development of toddlers is hampered due to malnutrition during pregnancy and this condition is known by looking at the child's body condition which is smaller than other children of the same age. Overcoming stunting is one of the programs of the Donggala Regency Government because of the large number of stunted children in the district, one of which is Powelua Village. Many factors can cause delays in the growth and development of toddlers, including toddler characteristics and socio-economic factors. The number of families at risk of stunting in Powelua Village in 2023 reached 58 children with a total of 150 Heads of Families. This community service activity aimed to educate the public that Moringa leaves have a very high nutritional content, especially their potential in preventing stunting. One way to prevent stunting is to provide education related to the potential use of Moringa leaves in preventing stunting which wass delivered in the form of lectures with material, as well in the form of leaflets, followed by a questions-and-answers session. Evaluation of achievement was carried out by providing pre-tests and post-tests to the community on the material presented with a success indicator of 74.27% of parents understanding the education provided. The results of implementing this community service activity showed an increase in knowledge of 88.67% with a very good category.
