Abstract

This study examines the potential of limestone in Kayubulan Village, Batudaa Pantai District, Gorontalo Regency, to determine its suitability as a groundwater reservoir. The research focuses on understanding the relationship between rock density and porosity, which are key factors in water storage capacity. The methods employed include geological field mapping, specific gravity testing following SNI 1969:2008 standards, and petrographic analysis. Geological field mapping identified the distribution and characteristics of limestone facies, while specific gravity testing involved measuring dry weight (𝑊₀) and saturated weight (W_w),which were incorporated into Giancoli's (2014) density formula. Petrographic analysis was conducted to examine the inverse relationship between density and porosity in various limestone facies and to identify porosity types.Five samples representing Wackestone, Packstone, Crystalline Carbonate, and Coralline Framestone facies were analyzed for density, porosity, and water absorption. Based on Koesoemadinata's (1980) classification, porosity values were as follows: Wackestone 4.49% (negligible), Packstone 8.4% (poor), Wackestone FAK 12 10.54% (fair), Crystalline Carbonate 12.69% (good), and Coralline Framestone 23.7% (very good). Variations in micrite and sparite composition also influenced porosity; Wackestone FAK 15 showed lower porosity than FAK 12 due to its higher sparite content.Coralline Framestone emerged as the most viable reservoir candidate, as high-porosity, low-density rocks generally exhibit superior water absorption capacities. These findings highlight the significance of porosity and density in groundwater management and offer valuable insights for optimizing Gorontalo's water resources.

Abstract

This research was conducted in Putiana village and its surrounding area, Anggrek District, North Gorontalo Regency. The geographical position of this area is at 122°47'09.9'' - 122°48'31.9'' East Longitude and 0°48'43.3'' - 0°50'00.3” North Latitude (WGS84 Zone 51N) with a study area of 6 km². The research was conducted with the aim of knowing the geochemistry of andesite rocks and the tectonic order that occurred in the research area. The method used in this research is geological mapping which aims to determine the geological conditions and X-ray fluorescence (XRF) geochemical analysis to determine the chemical content of rocks. The results showed that the stratigraphy of the research area when sorted from old to young includes andesite porphyry units, andesite units, and alluvial sediment units. Based on geochemical analysis, it is known that the magma type of the andesite rock series of the research area is tholeiitic and includes basalt rock types. The magma origin is Island Arc Tholeiitic, with the tectonic setting of the research area occurring in the orogenous zone/subduction zone.

Abstract

Administratively, the research location is in Pilobuhuta Village, Batudaa District, Gorontalo Regency, with an area of 4.8 KM². Limestone is a sedimentary rock formed from calcium carbonate deposits. These rocks are often found in various areas, including in Pilobuhuta Village, Batudaa District, Gorontalo Regency. The Pilobuhuta area has unique geological conditions, with hills that have the potential to be a location for limestone formation. Research on the characteristics of limestone in this area to identify the mineral composition, structure, and texture of existing rocks, as well as to determine the porosity value of limestone in this area. The aim of this research is to map the geological conditions of the Pilobuhuta area and its surroundings, analyze the characteristics of limestone, and analyze the porosity value of limestone in the research area. The research method used is surface geological mapping and porosity analysis in the form of petrographic analysis and specific gravity analysis. The research results show that the research area consists of four limestone facies units, namely mudstone facies, wackestone facies, packstone facies, and grainstone facies. The geomorphological units in this area are divided into two land forms, namely alluvial lowland units and denudational hills. The porosity value of the limestone in the research area ranges from fair to very good. The porosity value in the mudstone facies is in the fair category, the wackestone facies is in the good category, the packstone facies is in the very good category, and the grainstone facies is in the fair category.

Abstract

The research was conducted in Pancakarsa II Village, Taluditi Subdistrict, Pohuwato Regency. The Objective of this study is to determine the distribution and characteristics of sandstone in the research area. The method employed includes surface geological mapping to identify the geological conditions of the area and comprises alluvial plain units, pyroclastic flow hill units, and denudational hill units. The stratigraphy, arranged from oldest, to youngest, consists of the Gravel Sandstone unit, the Sandstone unit, the Muddy Sandstone unit, and the Pyroclastic Breccia unit. Geological structures were analyzed using lineament analysis, revealing a predominant northeast-southwest structural orientation.the sandstone distribution in the study area shows that the Gravel Sandstone unit occupies approximately 14%, the Sandstone unit is 19%, and the Muddy Sandstone unit is 17%. Petrographic analysis based on mineral composition percentages indicates that sample ST1 is classified as Lithic Arenite, while samples ST7 and ST29 are classified as Lithic Greywacke.

Abstract

This study was conducted in Molotabu Village, Kabila Bone Subdistrict, BoneBolango Regency with the aim of analyzing landslide-prone zones. This study included Geographic Information System (GIS) analysis using ArcGIS for the assessment and determination of landslide hazard classes and the determination of the geological conditions of the study area, including geomorphology, stratigraphy, and geological structure. The methods used in this study included field surveys and the assessment and weighing of parameters that influence landslides. These parameters included lithology, rainfall, slope, land cover, and linear density. The lithology of the study area consisted of two rock units, namely the Dacite Rock Unit and the Tuff Rock Unit. Based on the results of the analysis of the landslide vulnerability class of Molotabu Village using the assessment and weighing method, three landslide vulnerability classes were obtained, namely a low landslide vulnerability class with an area of 0.11 km² and a relatively flat slope (7-15%), a medium vulnerability class with an area of 2.24 (Km)² (15-30%), and high landslide susceptibility class with an area of 0.84 〖Km〗² (30-70%).
