Abstract

Mathematics is generally considered a complex subject by the majority of students in Indonesia. Students tend to rely on simple learning strategies such as memorizing formulas. This perpetual trend distance our students from deeper mathematical understandings such as concept application. In this study, we develop an interactive learning media based on Microsoft PowerPoint to instill a deep conceptual understanding of polyhedrons in class VIII students. This Research and Development study follows the 4D development model with a limited dissemination phase. The research data was collected through validation techniques by expert validators to measure the feasibility level of learning media. The instruments used in the research were interview sheets, observation sheets, learning style tests, media validation sheets, language validation sheets, and material validation sheets. The data analysis technique uses the Method of Summated Ratings, then the eligibility percentage for the developed media is calculated. The results showed that the eligibility percentage for media experts was 92%, material experts 96%, and linguists 90%. The average percentage of the three assessments corresponds to the “very valid” category. In conclusion, the media developed is very feasible for its intended purpose.

Abstract

Science learning in the 21st Century is marked by the improvement and development of students' skills in thinking, acting, and living in the world; 21st-century skills can be developed using various methods, approaches, and learning models. The STEM and Computational Thinking (CT) approach can be a tool for teachers and students in achieving learning goals in the digital era. This paper aims to review the results of research related to CT-STEM in science learning. The research method is carried out by applying the PRISMA protocol. Articles imported from publish or perish come from international journals with a publication range of 2018-2021 then screening is carried out so that ten articles are obtained that are eligible for qualitative testing. After that, coding was carried out using NVIVO 12. The trend of the type of research used by some researchers was a correlative survey, elementary school students were mostly chosen as research subjects, while the most widely used research instruments were computational thinking skills and perception of STEM skills, while for data analysis, The most frequently used are content analysis and descriptive statistics. In addition, there are two articles that combine the CT-STEM approach with learning models, namely: inquiry and PBjL. Regarding the research results, it can be recommended for further research to develop products in the form of learning tools to be able to apply CT-STEM in science learning, especially in Indonesia.

Abstract

Pembangunan kemaritiman nasional yang sedang digalang di Indonesia harus didukung oleh sistem pendidikan yang menjalankan fungsinya dalam mendidik calon warga negara. Agar pembangunan kemaritiman itu berhasil, siswa harus dididik secara sistematis pada bangku sekolah untuk memiliki literasi kelautan yang baik. Selama ini pengetahuan tentang kelautan tidak menjadi fokus dan hanya mendapat porsi kecil pada kurikulum pendidikan nasional. Akibatnya siswa Indonesia tidak memiliki pengetahuan, sikap, dan persepsi yang positif terhadap laut. Standar kurikulum yang berlaku di Indonesia tidak memiliki mata pelajaran khusus tentang ilmu kelautan. Materi dan pengetahuan penting tentang laut yang harus dimiliki calon warga negara ini dapat diintegrasikan kedalam mata pelajaran terkait, terutama biologi. Agar integrasi ini berjalan baik, diperlukan adanya standar isi pengetahuan kelautan yang dapat diacu oleh guru dalam mengembangkan prses pembelajaran. Penulis merumuskan sebuah framework literasi kelautan yang memuat pengetahuan esensial yang harus dikuasai siswa pada jenjang sekolah menengah. Framework literasi kelautan ini dirumuskan dengan mempertimbangkan standar ocean literacy yang berlaku secara internasional, dengan memperhatikan kondisi dan kearifan lokal Indonesia. Terdapat tujuh prinsip penting yang dirinci oleh 45 konsep dasar. Framework ini merangkum wawasan kelautan yang esensial untuk diintegrasikan kedalam pembelajaran yang terkait di sekolah. Selain itu framework ini juga dapat dijadikan acuan oleh pengelola akuarium dan taman, science park, dan pusat informasi informal lain. Diharapkan framework ini dapat memudahkan tugas guru dalam mengintegrasikan pengetahuan kelautan kedalam pembelajaran

Abstract

ABSTRACT. The aim of this study is to determine the availability, use and difficulties faced by teachers in the use of learning media. This study uses a quantitative approach with a type of descriptive research. The research data was obtained through questionnaire instruments, observation sheets and interview guidelines. Questionnaires and observation sheets to see the use of learning media and interview guidelines are used to determine the availability and difficulties faced by teachers in the use of learning media. Interview data on the availability of instructional media at SMP A and SMP B are adequate and at C SMP is inadequate. Based on the results of the study that in East Tanjungpinang Junior High School, the use of learning media as a whole was 71% on average fair. The use of learning media in SMP A has an average of 82% in the good category. The use of instructional media in SMP B has an average of 58% in the poor category and the use of instructional media in SMPN C has an average of 72% fair categories. Interview data on difficulties faced by teachers in the use of learning media from all schools in the East Tanjungpinang sub-district have difficulties in making media, lack of time efficiency in making learning media, creativity in making media still low, inadequate media availability ABSTRAK. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui ketersediaan, penggunaan dan kesulitan yang dihadapi guru dalam pemanfaatan media pembelajaran. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan jenis penelitian deskriptif. Data penelitian diperoleh melalui instrumen angket, lembar observasi dan pedoman wawancara. Angket dan lembar observasi untuk melihat penggunaan media pembelajaran dan pedoman wawancara digunakan untuk mengetahui ketersediaan dan kesulitan yang dihadapi guru dalam pemanfaatan media pembelajaran. Data hasil wawancara ketersediaan media pembelajaran di SMPN A dan SMPN B sudah memadai dan di SMPN C kurang memadai. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian bahwa di SMPN Se-Kecamatan Tanjungpinang Timur penggunaan media pembelajaran keseluruhan rata-rata 71% kategori cukup. Penggunaan media pembelajaran di SMPN A memiliki rata-rata 82% kategori baik. Penggunaan media pembelajaran di SMPN B memiliki rata-rata 58% kategori kurang dan penggunaan media pembelajaran di SMPN C memiliki rata-rata 72% kategori cukup. Data hasil wawancara kesulitan yang dihadapi guru dalam pemanfaatan media pembelajaran dari keseluruhan sekolah di kecamatan Tanjungpinang Timur memiliki kesulitan dalam membuat media, kurangnya efisiensi waktu dalam membuat media pembelajaran, kreatifitas dalam membuat media yang masih rendah, ketersediaan media yang kurang memadai.

Abstract

Abstract: This research aims to describe science process skills in science learning at the eight grade of SMP Negeri 8 Tanjungpinang. This research uses descriptive quantitative approach. The sample of this research were students from VIII A, VIII C, and VIII E grade of SMP Negeri 8 Tanjungpinang. Data in this research was gained from observation sheets instrument and test science process skills. The result of analysis showed science process skills of students VIII grade was good. Based on average result of science process skills from observation sheets is 66% in good category, and the result of science process skills from test is 68% in good category. When viewed from the test result the aspect of submitting hypotheses with a percentage is 54% enough category of the sample used class. Teachers suggested to develop more science process skills in the learning, both in terms of test, discussion, and experiment. Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan keterampilan proses sains siswa dalam pembelajaran IPA kelas VIII di SMP Negeri 8 Tanjungpinang. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian deskriptif. Sampel yang digunakan kelas VIII A, VIII C, dan VIII E di SMP Negeri 8 Tanjungpinang. Data dikumpulkan melalui lembar observasi dan tes keterampilan proses sains. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa keterampilan proses sains siswa kelas VIII dapat dikategorikan baik. Berdasarkan hasil rata-rata keterampilan proses sains dari lembar observasi terukur sebesar 66% dengan kategori baik. Begitu juga dengan hasil tes keterampilan proses sains menunjukkan rata-rata persentase 68% dengan kategori baik. Jika dilihat dari hasil tes aspek mengajukan hipotesis dapat dikategorikan cukup dengan persentase 54% dari kelas sampel yang digunakan. Disarankan kepada guru lebih dapat mengembangkan keterampilan proses sains siswa dalam pembelajaran, baik itu dari segi tes, diskusi serta percobaan.

Abstract

ABSTRACT: This studi aimed to identify ethnoscience value contained in traditional activity of coastal society in Bintan called menyondong and berkarang. Menyondong is an activity to catch fish and sea produces by using handheld net (tangguk). Menyondong is usually performed late at afternoon until dusk or maghrib by walking in the shallow water along a parallel line to the coastline. Berkarang is an activity to collect the sea produces stranded in the intertidal area during the time of low tide. Both activity has an economic value as well as as ethnoscience value behind it. This ethnographic study is conducted through series of observations in popular spots for berkarang. Additional data were acquired through interviews. The study concluded that there are ethnoscience values contained in menyondong and berkarang, such as local names and understandings about the species collected, in the form of procedures followed in these activities, and in the knowledge timing to conduct the activities. ABSTRACT. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi nilai etnosains dalam aktivitas menyondong dan berkarang. Menyondong adalah kegiatan menangkap ikan dan hasil laut lain dengan menggunakan tangguk besar. Menyondong biasanya dilakukan di sore hari sampai maghrib dengan berjalan di air dangkal di sepanjang garis pantai. Berkarang adalah kegiatan mengumpulkan hasil-hasil laut yang tertinggal di daerah pasang-surut pada saat keadaan surut. Dua kegiatan ini adalah kegiatan yang sering dilakukan di kalangan masyarakat pesisir di Pulau Bintan. Kegiatan ini memiliki nilai ekonomi dan budaya serta berpotensi memiliki kandungan nilai etnosains. Studi etnografi ini dilakukan melalui rangkaian pengamatan di beberapa tempat menyondong dan berkarang yang populer. Data tambahan diperoleh melalui wawancara. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa terdapat nilai-nilai etnosains dalam aktivitas berkarang dan menyondong ikan. Nilai etnosains yang teridentifikasi antara lain dalam bentuk nama dan pengetahuan lokal terhadap hasil-hasil laut, dalam bentuk prosedur pelaksanaan aktivitas untuk meningkatkan hasil tangkapan, dan pemahaman akan pilihan waktu pelaksanaan yang disesuaikan dengan pasang-surut air laut.

Abstract

TPACK maturity is an important quality of a modern professional teacher, especially in the current state of the pandemic which requires certain level of technological mastery from teachers. There remain questions as to what variables contributed to TPACK maturity of teachers. The research objective was to examine TPACK maturity among teachers along different tenure lengths and gender. The research was conducted in Tanjungpinang City with a sample of 32 science junior high school teachers consisting of 26 female teachers and 6 male teachers. Data was collected through a questionnaire, assessing 7 aspects of teacher’s TPACK. The results show that teachers with less than 12 years tenure length scored higher in TPACK maturity than teachers with 12 to 24 years tenure length, while teachers with more than 24 years tenure length score the lowest. We suggest this result is moderated by the age group variables from the samples. Based on genders, there is no significant difference in TPACK maturity between male teachers and female teachers. The conclusion is that there are differences in the teacher’s TPACK maturity based on tenure lengths, but there is no significant difference based on gender.

Abstract

Zingiberaceae belongs to the Spermatophyta division, Angiospermae sub division, Liliopsida class, Zingiberidae sub class, Zingiberales order. Zingiberaceae is a plant with habitus in the form of perennial herbs that are aromatic. Zingiberaceae is a basic plant from tropical forests which is found in many shady places and valleys, sometimes also found in secondary forests. In Koto Dua Lama village, many species of Zingiberaceae are found, but have not been inventoried or reported scientifically. This study aims to diversify zingiberacaeae species found in the village of Koto Dua Lama. This type of research is qualitative research. In this study exploratory survey methods were used. The techniques used in collecting data are observation and collection of plants and documentation. In this study 11 species of Zingiberaceae were included in 8 genus and 2 sub-families including Costus speciosus (Sitawa), Alpinia galanga (Lengkueh), Amomum cardomomum (gandan bumbu), Curcuma domestica (kunyit), Curcuma mango (kunyit temu), Curcuma xanthorrhiza (Temulawak), Etlingera elatior (Sabung), Hedychium coronarium (Suli), Kaemferia galanga (Ceku), Zingiber Cassumnar (Kunyit Melai) and Zingiber Officinale (padi-padi). Each type has its own description or characteristics.

Abstract

The end of the covid-19 pandemic has provided several important lessons, including the importance of understanding scientific knowledge related to healthy lifestyle behavior and the implementation of healthy lifestyle behavior itself. This study aimed to measure students' science knowledge and healthy lifestyle behavior and the differences between male and female students. This research was descriptive research with a quantitative approach. The research was carried out in August-September 2023 involving 432 public senior high school students in Tanjungpinang. Data was collected using tests and questionnaires. The data were analyzed descriptively. The results showed that students' science knowledge and healthy lifestyle behavior were generally in the good and very good categories. There were variations in the number of students in each category. The percentage of achievement of science knowledge and healthy lifestyle behavior between male and female students generally did not have that big of a difference. Even so, students' science knowledge still needs to be improved, especially through science learning

Abstract

Ekosistem mengrove merupakan ekosistem penting di wilayah pesisir. Kerusakan ekosistem mangrove menyebabkan berbagai dampak buruk diantaranya menurunnya keanekaragaman hayati, terjadinya abrasi serta intrusi. Tujuan dari kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah untuk mengoptimalisasikan penghijauan kawasan pesisir Kota Tanjungpinang melalui pendampingan penanaman mangrove. Kegiatan ini dilakukan dalam bentuk pendampingan. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan pada Desember 2022 di Tanjung Sebauk, Kota Tanjungpinang. Kegiatan ini diikuti oleh masyarakat yang didominasi oleh para remaja.  Ketercapaian kegiatan diukur melalui kuesioner dengan pertanyaan tertutup dan terbuka. Melalui kegiatan ini, sebanyak 2500 bibit mangrove telah ditanam. Respon peserta terhadap kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa kegiatan dapat memberikan manfaat terhadap diri sendiri, masyarakat, dan lingkungan. Kegiatan ini dapat menumbuhkan kesadaran pelestarian lingkungan, mengedukasi masyarakat tentang manfaat hutan mangrove dan dampak buruk akibat kerusakan hutan mangrove di kawasan pesisir, serta memberikan pengetahuan tentang cara menanam mangrove yang baik dan benar. Kegiatan pendampingan penanaman mangrove ini telah berkontribusi dalam optimalisasi penghijauan kawasan pesisir Kota Tanjungpinang. Kegiatan seperti ini harus secara kontiniu dilaksanakan, bukan hanya sekedar melakukan penanaman mangrove tetapi juga mengedukasi masyarakat tentang pentingnya hutan mangrove bagi kawasan pesisir.
