Abstract

Based on observation, students of Madrasah Diniyah Al-Hidayah Gempol Pasuruan are not good enough in mastering Arabic language, especially in speaking skill. Researchers tried to solve the problemby using the Word Guess method. Researchers use the method is to know the influence of the method in speaking skill of students in Madrasah Diniyah Al-Hidayah Gempol Pasuruan. This research is quantative research. The population of this research is all of the 3rd grade students of Madrasah Diniyah Al-Hidayah Gempol Pasuruan. The data collection techniques in this study use observations, interviews, documentation and tests. This study shows that there is influence of the Word Guess method in improving students’speaking skill in Madrasah DiniyahAl-Hidayah Gempol Pasuruan based on the number paired samples statistic of the pretest and the post-test using T-Test.

Abstract

This study aims to determine whether there is a significant influence on the implementation of the Kaisa method to memorize Arabic vocabulary between the experimental group (using the Kaisa method) and the control group (not using the Kaisa method). This research is a quantitative research. The sample in this study consisted of 32 students, consisting of 16 students who were in the experimental class and 16 students who were in the control class. The data collection techniques using observation, interviews and tests. The analysis used is comparative analysis using the "t" test. The results showed that there was a significant influence on the results of memorizing Arabic vocabulary between the experimental class (using the kaisa method) and the control group (not using the kaisa method). This is indicated by an increase in the average value of the experimental class by 315 from the average value of the 810 pretest increased in the posttest to 1125.

Abstract

Mahmud Yunus adalah salah satu tokoh pembaharu dalam pendidikan bahasa Arab di Indonesia. Dalam pengajaran, Mahmud Yunus kala itu sudah menerapkan tiga pendekatan yaitu pendekatan rasional, praktis dan emosional (kognitif, psikomotorik dan afektif). Dalam hal metode, Mahmud Yunus menggunakan at-Thariqah al-Mubasyirah atau metode langsung (direct method). Dalam hal penerapan Thariqah Mubasyirah ini, Mahmud Yunus adalah salah satu orang pertama yang menerapkannya dalam pembelajaran bahasa Arab di Indonesia. Selain dalam pelajaran Bahasa Arab, penggunaan bahasa Arab juga digunakan sebagai bahasa pengantar untuk pelajaran-pelajaran agama karena ia berpendapat bahwa bahasa Arab adalah pintu atau gerbang untuk mempelajari ilmu-ilmu keislaman. Mahmud Yunus sangat mengutamakan metode dari pada materi untuk mendukung kurikulumnya. Namun ada hal yang sebenarnya lebih penting untuk mewujudkan kurikulum yang ideal selain manajemen madrasah dan tenaga kependidikan, yaitu guru. Guru harus mempunyai karakteristik yang baik yang harus tercermin dalam segala aktifitasnya sebagai ustadz, murabby, mu’allim, mursyid, mudarris, dan muaddib. Kata kunci: Mahmud Yunus, Pendidikan Bahasa Arab.

Abstract

Teaching material is one of teachers’ resources. Koran is complete teaching material for Islamic or Arabic knowledge including Ma’ani; one of three parts from Balaghah. Surah al-Hadid is one of surahs in Koran. It contains examples of Ma’ani. This article (research) is library research. This research used descriptive method. Research data is all verses of surah Hadid. The result of this research is that in surah al-Hadid there are 151 examples of kalamkhabar, 16 kalaminsya’, 38 examples of washl, 21 examples of fashl, 12 examples ijaz, four examples of ithnab and 24 examples of qashr.

Abstract

Arabic is the important language for Islamic people anyone. In Arabic school prepared to research reach the language basic competence, especially in four skills this research used writing skill, writing is a skill of language to indirectly communication, not through face to face each others. One of the things that can be done is analysis the errors and find solutions to overcome these problems. The purpose of this analysis was to determine the problematic errors writing skill in student assignments. To achieve these objectives, the researcher use descriptive research method with qualitative approaches. This study classifies each nahwu writing errors, sharaf, and letters, corrects and justify. For the data collection methods used are observation, interview, and documentation. Sources Of data taken from the student's task is to make a free bouquet using Arabic.From the results of samples taken 20 student researchers were able to nahwu because graduates on Islamic elementary school and also from schools that have previously been studied qoidah nahwu sharaf. whereas 10 students have not been able to understand of sharaf because not graduates on Islamic elementary school or from boarding school.

Abstract

Since English is a compulsory subject in Indonesian schools where students have to use certain EFL textbooks, examining sexism in these textbooks is important. This study examined sexism in three of the most widely used EFL textbooks in Indonesian schools. Six criteria of sexism were used in analysing the data, namely: generic he; generic man; titles, labels and names; occupational roles both in texts and pictures/ illustrations; omission, the number of females and males both in texts and pictures/ illustrations; and firstness, the order of mention. The analysis was based on the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE)’s ‘Guidelines for gender-fair use of Language’ (2002) and Porecca’s study (1984). In all criteria of sexism, there is evidence that sexism is present in the EFL textbooks used in Indonesian schools. The most unbalanced and the worst finding is the firstness (the order of mentions) with the ratio 10:1 in favour of male gendered words that appear first. This study suggests that there should be improvement in the production of the EFL textbooks used in Indonesian schools.

Abstract

This essay will analyse and discuss Barrack Obama’s Cairo speech by using CDA framework such as lexical sets and choice of lexis, modality, cohesion and coherence, and generic structure of text. Based on the analysis and discussion, the choice of lexis may give an impact on the way the listeners think and believe to what Obama says, to show to the listeners that Obama understands the religion of his audience, to show his seriousness of making ‘a new beginning’ with Muslims around the world, to give a good impression of the overall of the speech to the audience, and to appreciate Muslim audience. In cohesion and coherence, it is well organized which means Obama tries to make his speech easier to follow by everyone by using additive conjunctions’ or ‘transition phrases’ which have a function ‘to list in order’. Besides, the generic structure of the speech is well structured.

Abstract

Standard English has many different accents. Teachers of English in Indonesia might have problems in their classrooms such as intelligibility, negative attitudes towards accents, differences of accents in different materials and between students’ needs/expectation and teacher’s awareness of variations. This article has addressed some solutions. Some of them are: Teachers should teach the varieties of Standard English they master either American English or British English as a model in order to provide mutual intelligibility; teachers should try changing students’ attitudes toward by giving them an explanation about variations; teachers should give students explanation first about differences in dictionaries; teachers should master variations, at least AE and BE. By this recognition of the problems and understanding the solutions, the writer believes that teachers can address/solve the problems.

Abstract

The problem that exists in the Madrasah Diniyah Bahrul Ulum Coban Blimbing is the idea that there are still numerous students think that learning is a boring and monotonous lesson that results in students becoming less proficient in the material, especially in mastering vocabulary. Researchers tried to solve the problem using an index card match learning model. This study aims to determine the influence of the student's knowledge of vocabulary of the index card match learning model of Madrasah Diniyah Bahrul Ulum Coban Blimbing Wonorejo. This type of study uses experimental quantitative trials with a pre-trial and post-trial design. Observation, testing, and publishing will be used as survey methodologies.This study can be known using normally distributed data, with a value of 0.546 > 0.05 on the initial test or pre-test and a value of 0.209 > 0.05 on the final test or post-test. And the paired sample t test averaged 69.75 and the deviation was 19,226 while the post-test average was 74.00 and the deviation was 20,170. In light of all this, it can be stated that the use of the Index Card Match Learning Model have improved improving the mastery of vocabulary of Madrasah Diniyah Bahrul Ulum students.

Abstract

reading skill (maharatul qiro'ah) is a skill that is quite difficult to learn, because it requires the discipline of Arabic grammar, mufradat and being able to understand the meaning of the text being read. Darussalam Talang Watuagung prigen Pasuruan Tarbiyatul Qur'an (TQ) Islamic boarding school is one of the Islamic boarding schools that applies the Qawaid and Translation methods in Maharah Qira'ah learning. for this reason researchers feel it is important to conduct research with the aim of describing the implementation of the maharotul qiro'ah method and the supporting factors and obstacles to implementation at the Tarbiyatul Qur'an Islamic Boarding SchoolThis research uses descriptive qualitative research with research instruments using case studies. The population in this study were all TQ Islamic Boarding School students. The results of this study indicate that the grammar and translation methods applied at TQ Darussalam Islamic Boarding School in improving reading skills have 3 namely 1. Isti'dadiyah (preparation) phase, 2. Implementation phase, and 3. Evaluation phase, all of which students must pass gradually . while the factors that support the enthusiasm of the students in participating in reading skills learning grammar and translation methods include demands for an increase in the level of education implemented at the Darussalam Islamic Boarding School and demands for formal education that require them to be able to understand Arabic texts. Factors inhibiting the application of Grammar and Translation methods in learning Reading Skills include: limited learning media, limited learning time and no repetition of learning material
