Abstract

Literasi Digital merupakan salah satu literasi pada Abad Ke-21 yang dibutuhkan untuk berhasil menjadi warga dunia di era digital. Literasi digital dianggap sangat erat kaitannya dengan literasi dasar (kompetensi membaca, menulis, berhitung) yang merupakan bagian terpadu dalam Pendidikan. Tujuan penelitian ini menggali lebih dalam penerapan pengintegrasian literasi digital dalam pembelajaran berbicara bagi guru bahasa. Desain penelitian ini adalah analisis isi. Sumber data berupa enam RPP kelas XI dari 3 SMA negeri dan 3 SMA swasta di Jakarta yang diambil secara acak. Data berupa kata, frasa, dan kalimat yang mengandung indikator literasi digital yang diambil dari Rencana Persiapan Pembelajaran (RPP) dengan menggunakan indikator kerangka kerja kompetensi Teknologi Informasi dan Komunikasi (TIK) dan deskriptor Common European Framework (CEFR Bands) untuk menganalisis pembelajaran berbicara. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukkan bahwa  dominasi indikator kompetensi TIK banyak ditemui pada level Knowledge Acquisition (KA) terintegrasi ke dalam RPP, khususnya pada komponen media pembelajaran, kegiatan, dan penilaian. Sementara untuk level Knowledge Deepening (KD) hanya ditemukan satu indikator yaitu menentukan aktivitas online yang tepat ke dalam rencana pembelajaran dan sumber belajar elektronik yang terintegrasi ke dalam RPP. Sedangkan pada level Knowledge Creation (KC) ditemukan dua indikator kompetensi TIK terintegrasi kedalam RPP, yaitu penggunaan berbagai alat dan perangkat TIK untuk melakukan kegiatan membangun pengetahuan, penalaran, reflektif, dan komunikasi. Dan ketepatan penggunaan berbagai sumber web dalam mendukung pembelajaran berbasis projek. Hasil temuan kesesuaian Kompetensi Dasar dengan CEFR menunjukkan bahwa indikator /deskriptor CEFR yang terintegrasi ke dalam RPP berkisar pada rentang  A1 – B1. Pengintegrasian literasi digital pada pembelajaran berbicara bahasa Inggris didominasi pada kompetensi akuisisi pengetahuan (Knowledge Acquisition) dan alat TIK yang digunakan Powerpoint, YouTube, Zoom Cloud Meeting,WhatsApp group, dan Quipper terintegrasi pada komponen RPP yaitu media, materi, kegiatan pembelajaran, dan penilaian.

Abstract

Penelitian Tindakan kelas merupakan jalur strategis untuk pengembangan profesionalisme yang diwajibkan bagi para guru di Indonesia, namun tidak semua guru percaya diri dalam melakukan penelitian ini karena berbagai alas an. Pengabdian Masyarakat ini bertujuan memberikan pengetahuan dan pendampingan penelitian tindakan kelas dan penulisan karya ilmiah. Sasarannya adalah para guru bahasa, sains dan ilmu pengegtahuan sosial di Madrasah Ibtidaiyah, Tsanawiyah dan Aliyah Istiqlal Jakarta. Kegiatan dilakukan dengan pelatihan dan lokakarya secara luring dan asinkronous, sejak bulan Maret sampai dengan September 2024. Kegiatan diawali dengan pemberian pengetahuan tentang penelitian tindakan kelas, dan penulisan karya ilmiah serta merefleksikan pembelajaran berbasih literasi digital yang telah dilakukan oleh para guru, diikuti dengan pendampingan dalam merancang penelitian, mulai dari menuliskanm judul, latar belakang dan masalah serta tujuan penelitian; mencari referensi dan menuliskan kajian pustaka; dilanjutkan dengan mempersiapkan langkah-langkah meneliti dan instrument penelitian. Berdasarakan keaktifan berpartisipasi dan produk lokakarya yang ditampilkan para peserta dapat disimpulkan bahwa pengabdian masyarakat ini dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan para peserta dalam merancang penelitian tidakan kelas.

Abstract

The rise of digital devices and content consumption has reshaped reading habits, potentially influencing the development of early reading skills. However, limited research addresses cognitive competencies in digital English reading, which enable readers to process, comprehend, and retain information online. This study aimed to investigate the presence of cognitive competencies in digital English reading materials and the challenges in developing them. A Systematic Literature Review (SLR) was conducted, excluding 47 articles and including 15 based on research criteria. Findings indicate that while cognitive competencies—such as critical thinking, problem-solving, creativity and innovation, situation analysis, decision-making, and pattern recognition—are integrated into English reading materials, they require further development in digital contexts. The study also identified challenges in developing cognitive competence, including cognitive load, material and pedagogical design, teacher and student expectations, technology and digital literacy, feedback and assessment, information overload, interdisciplinary and critical thinking skills, and the nature of literacy. Understanding the integration of cognitive competencies into digital resources is crucial for educators and stakeholders, as it aids in optimizing language learning experiences and developing targeted solutions to enhance language learning tools and strategies.

Abstract

Hoaxes have been rampant on various social media platforms. A lack of digital literacy skills causes the ongoing hoaxes to spread. This study aims to analyse undergraduate students' perspectives on good digital literacy skills that can minimize the spread of hoaxes. The current study uses a survey research method to gain insights into the perspective of undergraduate students. Respondents in this study were 21 undergraduate students of the Islamic State University of Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin Banten in the English Education Department. The result of this study indicates that most students can handle the hoax news, even though some are still spreading it. Besides that, the type of hoax often accepted by students is social politics, which spreads through Facebook applications.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the English reading materials currently used by senior high school students and evaluate the extent to which they incorporate digital literacy and problem solving. The study was conducted at a senior high school in Bekasi, Indonesia. The research employs qualitative content analysis to examine the existing English reading materials, which consist of English textbooks. Furthermore, interviews with three English teachers were conducted to explore the needs of learning materials further. The findings reveal a gap between the current materials and the descriptors of digital literacy and problem solving. Therefore, it indicates an urgency to develop new English reading materials that promote problem solving and incorporate digital literacy to better facilitate the students’ needs.

Abstract

The educational sector is gaining significant interest in intercultural competency due to its potential to enhance students' global learning experiences and academic performance. In this study, a needs analysis was used to investigate the existing learning materials of the needs of 10th-grade students in intercultural competence for English reading materials. The primary goal of this research is to analyze the English reading materials currently used by 10th-grade students and evaluate the extent to which they incorporate intercultural competence. In addition, the results of the need analysis show the gap between the current materials and intercultural competence. However, the result also found that students need teaching materials that contain intercultural values. These values are taken from international, national, and local cultures. Therefore, it indicates an urgency to integrate new English reading materials that promote intercultural materials to facilitate the needs of students.

Abstract

AbstrakKajian pustaka merupakan hal mendasar dalam meneliti maupun menulis artikel ilmiah. Melalui kajian pustaka dapat ditemukan informasi terbaru bidang yang akan diteliti, celah penelitian, dan rujukan dasar teoritis untuk meneliti dan atau menulis artikel ilmiah. Namun demikian banyak guru memiliki kesulitan dalam menulis kajian pustaka yang mengakibatkan mereka enggan meneliti dan publikasi. Tujuan dari pengabdian pada masyarakat ini adalah meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan guru dalam menulis kajian pustaka pembelajaran berbasis literasi digital. Metode yang digunakan adalah pelatihan dan pendampingan secara luring dan daring; dimulai dengan penyajian materi tentang menuliskan judul penelitian, pengetahuan tentang kajian pustaka, tujuan dan fungsi kajian Pustaka, serta cara membuat kajian Pustaka, dilanjutkan dengan pendampingan penulisan. Sasaran kegiatan adalah para guru di Madrasah Ibtidaiyah, Madrasah Tsanawiyah dan Madrasah Aliyah Istiqlal Jakarta. Kegiatan menunjukkan hasil yang baik dengan indicator semua peserta menuliskan judul penelitian dan mendekonstruksi untuk menetapkan variable dan konteks penelitian, mengidentifikasi kata kunci sebagai dasar kajian pustaka, menyusun kerangka kajian pustaka untuk dikembangkan sesuai kebutuhan peserta. Kesimpulannya adalah program pendampingan dari perguruan tinggi bermanfaat bagi guru dalam menyelesaikan masalah penulisan kajian pustaka. AbstractReviewing works of literature is a basic need for researching and writing academic articles. Conducting a literature review will enable us to reveal the current information regarding to the topic to be studied, the research gap, and references for the theoretical bases. However, many teachers in Indonesia find difficulties in writing a literature review causing them to be reluctant to conduct research and produce academic articles. This community service aimed to improve teachers' knowledge and skills in writing literature reviews on digital literacy-based learning. Offline and online workshop and mentoring methods were employed during the service, carried out in two main phases; orienting and engaging teachers to get to know about literature review and research, engaging and mentoring teachers to search and conduct literature review. The target of this service were teachers of the Islamic Primary, Junior High, and Senior Schools in 2 Istiqlal Jakarta. The service showed good results in terms of the complete participation of the teachers in writing their research titles, deconstructing the title to decide the research focuses and context, identifying the keywords as the bases for the literature review, and composing the framework to be developed related to their needed literature reviews. It can be concluded that mentoring program from the faculty members can solve the teachers’ problems in writing literature reviews.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyse the English reading materials currently used by non-English major students and evaluate the extent to which they incorporate microlearning and problem-solving skills. The study was conducted at a public university in Bogor, Indonesia. The research utilized qualitative content analysis to examine a set of existing learning materials, consisting of a coursebook, PowerPoint slides, explainer videos, and infographics. Interviews with five English instructors were also conducted to explore the needs of learning materials further. The findings reveal a gap between the current materials and the descriptors of microlearning and problem-solving. Therefore, it indicates an urgency of developing new English reading materials that promote problem-solving and incorporate microlearning to facilitate the needs of non-English major students better.

Abstract

With this study, the authors explore the evolution of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) in English language education and its substantial contribution to language proficiency, critical thinking, and student engagement. With technology evolving at a fast pace and world becoming a global village, the conventional means of education are slowly dying and are not enough to prepare students for the challenges of the 21st century. In response to these challenges, Project-Based Learning (PBL) has mature as a student-centered approach that promotes relevant and real-world problems and tasks, active learning, and collaboration. The corresponding research brings together research published from 1980 through 2024, emphasizing the period of 2019–2024. Employing thematic analysis, three main themes emerged from the literature, which were language proficiency, developing critical thinking skills, challenges in implementing PBL, and technological integration. The research shows that PBL leads to higher levels of language proficiency, especially in speaking and writing, promotes critical thinking, and increases engagement among learners. However, many barriers exist, including lack of teacher preparation and limited curriculum and materials availability. Finally, the paper concludes that the potential of PBL in English language education is maximized with teacher training, curricular flexibility, and equitable access to technology.

Abstract

Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah untuk membantu guru Bahasa Inggris sekolah menengah pertama (SMP) di Kabupaten Agam, Sumatera Barat, untuk merancang pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris berbasis microlearning. Kegiatan ini dilakukan melalui pelatihan dan lokakarya, yang karena situasi pandemic Covid-19 dilaksanakan secara dalam jaringan (online) melalui zoom meeting. Kegiatan dilaksanakan dalam lima pertemuan mulai dari Agustus hingga Oktober 2022. Peserta kegiatan adalah 35 orang guru Bahasa Inggris yang tergabung dalam Musyawarah Guru mara pelajaran (MGMP) SMP Kabupaten Agam. Pemateri adalah lima orang dosen dari program studi Magister Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris Universitas Negeri Jakarta. Materi pelatihan mencakup konsep microlearning dan konsep lain yang terkait yakni literasi digital, self-directed learning; dan cara merancang pembelajaran berbasis microlearning untuk empat keterampilan berbahasa yakni menyimak, berbicara, membaca, dan menulis yang disesuaikan dengan tujuan pengajaran Bahasa Inggris di tingkat SMP. Kegiatan ini menghasilkan pemahaman yang lebih mendalam pada peserta pelatihan tentang konsep microlearning secara umum dan secara khusus untuk pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris serta cara merancang pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris berbasis microlearning.
