Abstract

This study aimed at describing the infusion of problem solving skills in microlearning videos for non-English major students. In addition, it delineates the feasibility of the materials using a small-scale piloting. The study employs library research for the procedures of infusion and pilot study for the feasibility of the designed materials. The findings encompass detailed descriptions and procedures of the learning materials enclosed with a feasibility measurement conducted by a panel of three English learning materials experts and 50 participants as target users. The participants involved eleven English course instructors and thirty-nine students. The feasibility measures indicate that the microlearning video prototypes received satisfactory results. These results suggest that microlearning videos have the potential to enhance problem solving skills which in turns revamp the 21st century skills. The naturally determined characteristic of microlearning videos are also befitting the demand for bite-sized content of information, self-paced learning, mobile-friendly accessibility which undergo learning experience of students in digital era, especially in EFL context within higher education.

Abstract

Education should aim at fostering human development and personal growth rather than focusing solely on higher test scores. Emphasizing these aspects will inherently boost intellectual achievements and better prepare students to contribute to both global and local societies. Human beings have an innate goodness and a natural tendency to learn, grow, and reach their full potential. Therefore, aligning education with these natural tendencies will make it more effective. This article investigates how integrating humanistic principles with students' reading abilities can enhance English language learning in the classroom. The research methods primarily utilize library materials, eliminating the need for fieldwork (Zed, 2008). The study's findings indicate that students can enhance their reading skills in a humanistic way, creating a classroom environment that aligns with the educational goal of fostering humanistic understanding of learning materials.

Abstract

Abstract

Microlearning is a short-term learning strategy that can increase students' interest in learning. It is in line with the characteristics of today's students who cannot focus on learning for long periods of time. The study was conducted at three senior high schools in Bogor, Indonesia. This study aimed to analyze microlearning in writing English learning materials for the tenth grader. This research employed a content analysis approach. The data sources are learning materials from two student books from two publishers that refer to Kurikulum Merdeka Belajar as well as additional learning materials developed by teachers such as PowerPoint slides, explainer videos, and infographics. Interviews with three English teachers were also conducted. The result of the study showed that the microlearning features in each unit are not entirely satisfied, although numerous media have been found in a short amount of time, there are still certain components that have not been addressed. The study suggested that to improve students' writing English learning experiences, book writers and teachers should emphasize microlearning aspects and critical thinking skills more in learning materials.
