Abstract

This study aims to determine the praxis of digital literacy carried out in the English learning process at Citra Kasih High School based on the global digital literacy competency framework developed by UNESCO. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative to describe the practice of digital literacy in learning English at Citra Kasih High School. The results showed that there were seven areas of digital literacy competence that were applied in the English learning process at Citra Kasih High School, namely: 1) hardware and software; 2) information and data literacy; 3) communication and collaboration; 4) digital content creation; 5) security; 6) problem solving; 7) career-related competencies. In conclusion, the indicators of digital literacy skills initiated by UNESCO for the digital community, in general, can be used in the English learning process in particular. The seven digital literacy competency areas applied in learning English at Citra Kasih High School are implemented in preliminary activities, core activities, and closing activities. Abstract

Purpose of the study: This research was conducted to investigate how the praxis and effectiveness of digital literacy praxis in diploma III students of the Marine Transportation Management study program at the Merchant Marine Polytechnic of Sulawesi Utara. Methodology: The type of approach used in this study is a mix method approach, which is by combining quantitative and qualitative research. Quantitative research was used to calculate the number of correspondent responses. Qualitative research is the activity of exploring and developing the phenomena that occur. Usually, qualitative research makes a complex picture, examines words, detailed reports from the respondent's point of view and conducts a study on the situation that occurs. Main Findings: From the findings and discussions that have been carried out regarding the praxis of the four pillars of digital literacy in Marine Transportation Management students in the 3rd semester at Merchant Marine Polytechnic of Sulawesi Utara, 2 (two) conclusions can be reached. The first conclusion is that digital skills are the pillars in digital literacy that are most mastered by Marine Transportation Management students in the 3rd semester at Merchant Marine Polytechnic of Sulawesi Utara. Students are very proficient in using digital devices and utilizing the internet network in processing information. Novelty/Originality of this study: In common ways, the result of this research will offer valuable information to set up appropriate solution to make learning materials in order to empower and enrich students skills on literacy understanding and its practice.

Abstract

This research aimedto determine the reasons behind men's purchasing decisions for women's shampoo products. This research was conducted in the Manado State Polytechnic environment, with a sample consisting of male students of the Manado State Polytechnic. The research method used is qualitative, with a bold interview approach via Google Forms. This research identifies several reasons that influence men's purchasing decisions regarding women's shampoo, which are then determined to be factors that influence purchasing decisions. The factors identified are product quality, smell andsocial influence. These findings provide deeper insight into male consumers' behaviortowards products marketed to women.

Abstract

Language as a communication tool that do not adhere to the rules and used continuously will result in an increasing number of errors due to a decreasing awareness of the mistakes. By the time, people may come to believe that error is correct. To response this problem, identifying language errors must be done early in education process to prevent these mistakes into the professional career. The aim of this study is to analyze the language error in business letter in business correspondence course at Manado State Polytechnic. The research focuses on two types of language errors in the business letters, they are: spelling errors and errors in the use of effective sentence. A qualitative descriptive method was used with 25 business letters which were written by the students. The results revealed a total of 101 errors occurred in the letters. There were 56 spelling errors and 45 errors related to effective sentence used. The most frequent spelling errors were found in the use of capital letters while involved redundancy and inappropriate diction in effective sentence errors. This study is expected to raise awareness of the importance of using proper and correct Indonesian language rules to improve written communication skills in the professional world.
