Abstract

The tourism industry has made an enormous difference in terms of jobs, foreign exchange, and the building up of infrastructure. On the other hand, many infrastructures can make natural places look less attractive, which calls for sustainable tourism. It's vital to help small businesses get money through excellent digital infrastructure and to use public fiscal tools to ensure that natural resources are used sustainably. Infrastructure tourism was used as the title, abstract, and keywords in 6,377 documents from 1968 to 2023 found in the scopus.com database. It also shows 704 papers with the title, abstract, and article keyword "Renewable Energy Tourism" from 1990 to 2022. Based on research papers on scopus.com, Indonesia is ranked second in Asia for renewable energy tourism and first in ASEAN for infrastructure tourism. It's a perfect sign for the growth of tourism infrastructure and renewable energy tourism in Indonesia. Indonesia has many affiliations, including the University of Indonesia, the Bandung Institute of Technology, Gadjah Mada University, Bina Nusantara University, Diponegoro University, Brawijaya University, IPB University, Padjadjaran University, and Hasanuddin University. Research publications in Indonesia have received funding from the Ministry of Technology Research, the Directorate General of Higher Education, the Research and Service Institute, the Bandung Institute of Technology, the University of Indonesia, Airlangga University, and Diponegoro University. So, the infrastructure and Renewable Energy Tourism research are on track and in an excellent place to be published. Indonesia will lead the world.

Abstract

The problem of limited access to fulfill food needs, especially for pesantren communities during the COVID-19 pandemic, led Pondok Pesantren Hajar Aswad, Sunan Pandanaran Foundation to initiate a land conversion movement to promote food security. With the concept of greenhouses, empty land is converted into food source land by implementing the aquaponic cultivation method. This research aims to understand how the ecopesantren program can empower the pesantren community (santri, pesantren residents, surrounding communities) through land conversion movements, as well as a new form of social movement. This research uses a qualitative method with a case study research type. The results of this study show that (1) the application of the greenhouse method as a form of conversion of vacant land by pesantren has succeeded in realizing food security and economic independence. (2) the pesantren community participates in each other and has the same role in its management. (3) This management has a socio-ecological impact, namely increasing social awareness and improving the economy of the pesantren community, as well as contributing to the welfare and preservation of the surrounding environment. This shows that the pesantren community is empowered through the ecopesantren program, one of which utilizes the land by carrying out the movement to convert vacant land into greenhouses using the aquaponics system to support food security and encourage economic independence in the pesantren community.

Abstract

The waste management crisis in Indonesia, particularly in urban areas, has spurred the emergence of various digital technology-based innovations, including digital waste bank applications such as eRecycle, Octopus, and Rekosistem. This study aims to analyze the role of these technologies in changing community participation patterns and their impact on community social dynamics. The research employed a qualitative approach using in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document study in three major cities : Jakarta, Makassar, and Surabaya. Findings indicate that economic incentives were the initial motivation for app use, but ecological awareness grew with continued participation. Technology also plays a role in shaping new forms of social capital through system transparency, participatory reporting, and strengthening community networks. However, there is a transformation from collective social interaction patterns to more individualistic digital participation. In addition, digital literacy barriers, limited access to technology, and social stigma against waste sorting activities remain serious challenges in creating inclusive engagement. The conclusion of this study confirms that the success of digital waste bank applications is highly dependent on the integration between technological innovation and community-based social approaches. This study recommends the need for strategies to strengthen digital social capital, public education, and policies that guarantee fair access and participation in technology-based waste management.

Abstract

The waste emergency in Indonesia is not only a technical issue, but also a social problem closely related to community participation patterns. This study aims to analyze how communities engage in waste management efforts through two main approaches: environmentally based social movements and strengthening community independence. A qualitative approach was used with case studies in three urban areas: Jakarta, Makassar, and Yogyakarta. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and community documentation. The research results show that community participation grows through a combination of ecological awareness, social mobilization, and local leadership. Social movements are able to raise collective spirit, while community independence determines the sustainability of the program. Success factors include the presence of driving figures, networks between residents, and local policy support. This research confirms that synergy between social movements and strengthening community independence is an important foundation in responding to the waste emergency in an inclusive and sustainable manner.

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of digitalization on the preservation of local knowledge within the Ammatoa Kajang community in South Sulawesi. It specifically addresses the research questions: (1) What forms of local knowledge in the Ammatoa Kajang community are suitable for digitization? (2) What are the challenges and opportunities in digitizing local knowledge in this context? (3) How can participatory and ethical approaches ensure the preservation of local knowledge through digital technologies? Local knowledge, including value systems, customary law, and ecological rituals like Ma'bara, is increasingly at risk of extinction due to globalization and cultural commodification. Employing a qualitative ethnographic approach, the study reveals that digitalization can serve as an effective tool for expanding intergenerational knowledge, provided it is guided by participatory principles, community control, and strong cultural ethics. The findings suggest that without the active involvement of indigenous communities, digitalization may undermine the symbolic meaning and spirituality of this knowledge. The study also highlights key limitations, including the risk of decontextualization and cultural misrepresentation when digitalization is not community-driven. This research underscores the need for collaborative strategies, digital-based cultural protection policies, and approaches aligned with local values to safeguard traditional knowledge in the digital era.

Abstract

Indonesia became one of the strongest economies in Asia Pacific. Sustainable tourism is crucial for Indonesia due to the country's rich biodiversity, diverse cultures, and reliance on tourism as a significant economic driver. Sustainable tourism in Indonesia refers to the practice of promoting tourism activities that minimize negative impacts on the environment, respect and preserve local cultures, and contribute to the well-being of local communities. Indonesia, with its rich biodiversity, cultural diversity, and natural beauty, recognizes the importance of sustainable tourism to ensure the long-term viability of its tourism industry and the preservation of its natural and cultural assets. Renewable energy tourism, also known as green or sustainable energy tourism, is gaining importance globally as countries seek to promote environmental sustainability and address climate change. By integrating sustainability into tourism practices, Indonesia ensures the long-term viability of its tourism industry. This approach helps balance economic growth with environmental and social considerations, preventing negative consequences that could harm the industry in the future. As a government effort to ease the burden of spending on the poor and vulnerable who have been designated as Beneficiary Families in meeting their family's food needs, the government provides Non-Cash Food Assistance through the Family Hope Program and increases the amount of assistance provided to the poor and vulnerable during the Covid-19 pandemic. 19. This research uses descriptive quantitative method. Beneficiary families become respondents in this study. This study uses Structural Functional theory where all elements in society function with each other so that society carries out its functions properly, therefore community needs are conditions that must be adapted from the existing social system so that the function of the structure can run according to its function. Based on the results of the analysis obtained, it can be seen that the Family Hope Program has a positive and strong influence in meeting the basic food needs of the Beneficiary Families
