Abstract

ABSTRACT The objectives of this research were to determine antioxidant n activity from pineapple peal extract. Pineapple peel extracted by maceration, soxhlet and reflux using ethanol 80% as a solvent. Phenolics and flavonoids content of Crude extract were analyzed.Evaluation of antioxidant activity using DPPH free radicals method, The results shows that maceration, soxhlet and reflux extract possess phenolics content 16,53; 28,78; 16,02 g/mL respectively, and  flavonoid total content 3,514; 5,115; 4,414 g/mL respectively. Maceration extract with concentration 3000 g/mL possess low free radical scavenging activity, and soxhlet extract possess the highest.Inhibition concentration 50% (IC50) of soxhlet extract were 602,56 g/mL, it?s indicate that soxhlet extract possess high scavenging of 50% free radicals. This result shows that pineapple peel extract possess phytochemical phenolics and flavonoids that potential to be antioxidant and as active compound of sun screen. Abstract

ABSTRACT Corn (Zea Mays L.) is widely developed in Indonesia. Corn kernels showed total phenolic and antioxidant activity. Antioxidants have the potential as photoprotectors, therefore, plants containing phenolic compounds can be used in the prevention of free radicals. For this reason, researcher is interested in further researching the phytochemical screening, antioxidant activity and sunscreen testing from extracts of stems, leaves, hair and leaf wrapping from corn (Zea mays L.). The samples used were corn plants (corn silk, corn leaves, corn stalks and leaf wrapping corn) originating from Kauditan area, North Minahasa. The results of the study showed that the leaf contained saponin and flavonoid compounds, the stem contained alkaloid and saponin compounds, the hair contained alkaloid and flavonoid compounds, and the leaf wrapping only contained alkaloid compounds. The highest to lowest total phenolic content values starting from the stem were 46.93 ?g / mL, the leaf wrapping 37.76 ?g / mL, the leaf 26.63 ?g / mL and hair 14.49 ?g / mL. The leaf has the highest antioxidant activity with a value of 72.81% followed by 62.87% stem then wrapping leaf 43.13%  and finally hair 29.14%. The SPF value of the stem was included in the ultra protection with a value of 16.117 followed by the leaves included in the maximum protection with an SPF value of 10.902. While the hair with SPF value of 0.6 and wrapping leaf with SPF value of 0.222 are included in the minimum protection. Keywords: Corn (Zea Mays L.), Sunscreen, Antioxidants, Phenol ABSTRAK Jagung (Zea Mays L.) banyak dikembangkan di Indonesia. Antioksidan memiliki potensi sebagai fotoprotektor, oleh karena itu, tanaman yang mengandung senyawa fenolik dapat digunakan dalam pencegahan radikal bebas. Untuk itu peneliti tertarik untuk meneliti lebih lanjut tentang skrining fitokimia, uji aktivitas antioksidan dan tabir surya dari ekstrak batang, daun, rambut, dan daun pembungkus dari jagung (Zea mays L.). Sampel yang digunakan ialah tanaman jagung (rambut jagung, daun jagung, batang jagung dan daun pembungkus jagung) yang berasal dari daerah Kauditan, Minahasa Utara. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukkan daun mengandung senyawa saponin dan flavonoid, batang mengandung senyawa alkaloid dan saponin, rambut mengandung senyawa alkaloid dan flavonoid, dan daun pembungkus hanya mengandung senyawa alkaloid. Nilai kandungan total fenolik  yang paling tinggi sampai paling rendah dimulai dari batang sebesar 46.93 ?g/mL, daun pembungkus 37.76 ?g/mL, daun 26.63 ?g/mL dan rambut 14.49 ?g/mL. Daun memiliki aktivitas antioksidan yang paling tinggi dengan nilai 72.81% diikuti oleh batang 62.87% kemudian daun pembungkus 43.13% dan yang terakhir adalah rambut 29.14%. Nilai SPF batang termasuk dalam proteksi ultra dengan nilai 16,117 diikuti oleh daun yang termasuk dalam proteksi maksimal dengan nilai SPF 10,902. Sedangkan rambut dengan nilai SPF  0,6 dan daun pembungkus dengan nilai SPF 0,222 termasuk dalam proteksi minimal. Kata Kunci : Jagung (Zea Mays L.), Tabir Surya, Antioksidan, Fenol

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe study aimed to determine the phenolic content and antioxidant activity of sago wasteprocessing results. Results of processing sago pulp esxtraction was conducted using 1 x 24hour maceration using solvents ethanol with a concentration of 20, 40, 60 and 80%. Phenoliccontent was determined by Folin Ciocalteu method and determination of antioxidant activityusing the DPPH free radical scavengers. The results showed that the extract with the solventconcentration of 40% has a higher total phenolic 83,26 μg/mL followed by solvent extractconcentration of 20, 60 and 80% respectively 70,01; 60,58; 22,04 μg/mL. extract with 60%solvent concentration has free radical scavengers activity the highest of 82,75% followed byconcentration of solvent extracts 80, 20 and 60% are respectively 80,45; 76,62; 62,83%.These results suggest that the processing of sago pulp extract contains phenolic antioxidantsand can be potentially as.Keywords : pulp extract sago precessing results, phenolic compend, antioxidants.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe objectives of this research was to analyze the phytochemical content and antioxidantactivity from goroho’s sap peel. Sample preparation was cut from the banana tier, then havebeen cut to the both base of goroho’s peel and the fresh sap collected into the petri dish. Theextraction method was maceration used 20, 40, 60 and 80% ethanol concentration.Phytochemical screening carried out by analysis of alkaloid, flavonoid, saponin, steroid,terpenoid and tannin. Determination of antioxidant activity performed by DPPH free radicalscavengers. The phytochemical analysis results was goroho’s sap peel contain flavonoid,saponin and tannin. Ethanol extract of goroho’s sap peel with 80% concentration 100 μg/mLhad the highest antioxidant activity. Results of this research concluded that phenolic extractsof goroho’s sap peel has the ability both as an antioxidant to DPPH free radicals.Keywords: Banana sap peel goroho, phytochemical, antioxidant activity

Abstract

The objective of this research was to determine the potential antioxidant phytochemicalextracts corn cob (Zea mays L.). Corn cobs extracted using maceration method for 1x24 hours.Determination of phytochemical content is done by calculating the total phenolic. Testingantioxidant activity using free-radical scavengers DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-pikrilhidrazil). Results ofthis research showed that the extract of corn cobs have total phenolic. Extract 60% corn cobs haveprophylactic activity of free radicals, followed by extract 40, 80 and 20%. Conclusion of thisresearch is corn cob extracts have potential as antioxidants phytochemicals.Keywords : corn cob, antioxidant, phenolic, DPPH

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis study aims to determine the antioxidant activity and free radical antidote from fraction of bark sago baruk (Arenga microcarpha Beccari). This study initiated by extracting the powder of bark sago baruk using the maceration method for 3 days with ethanol 80%. The extract then partitioned using a series of solvent such as petroleum ether, ethyl acetate, buthanol, aquadest. The results showed that the ethyl acetate fraction had the highest free radical antidote content followed by the aquadest fraction, buthanol fraction, petroleum ether fraction. The content of free radical antidote respectively was 86,25%; 66,30%; 65,32%; 43,43%. Based on this study, the ethyl acetate fraction was the best fraction can act as an antidote to free radicals better than other fractions. Keywords: Bark sago baruk, fraction, free radical antidote ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan Aktivitas penangkal radikal bebas dari fraksi kulit kayu sagu baruk (Arenga microcarpha beccari). Penelitian ini dimulai dengan mengekstraksi serbuk kulit kayu sagu baruk menggunakan cara maserasi selama 3 hari dengan pelarut etanol 80%. Ekstrak kemudian dipartisi menggunakan pelarut petroleum eter, etil asetat, butanol, dan aquades. kemudian ditentukan aktivitas antioksidan dan penangkal radikal bebas. Hasilnya menunujukan bahwa fraksi etil asetat memiliki kandungan penangkal radikal bebas tertinggi diikuti fraksi aquades, fraksi butanol, dan fraksi petroleum eter. Kandungan penangkal radikal bebas berturut-turut adalah 86,25%; 66,30%; 65,32%; 43,43%. Berdasarkan penelitian ini, dapat disimpulkan bahwa fraksi etil asetat dapat berperan sebagai penangkal radikal bebas lebih baik dibandingkan dengan fraksi lainnya. Kata Kunci:  Kulit Kayu Sagu Baruk, Fraksi, Penangkal Radikal Bebas
