Abstract

In the post-pandemic era, many interactive activities have been flexibly generated through virtual conditions. Accordingly, some problems could appear in terms of leadership, such as difficulties in maintaining the audience’s attention during the event. Thus, the utilization of a command-based leadership style that could straightforwardly maintain audience focus ought to be considered to be adopted. However, both the command-based leadership style and its prospective aspects have not been widely understood by society. This community service aims to deliver a proper understanding of the command-based leadership style through interactive virtual discussion between experts in teaching activities of defense-based science and society consisting of Indonesian teachers, high school students as well as academics. Statistical results of pre-test and post-test scores showed enhancement of the participants’ understanding of command-based leadership. Hopefully, some relevant aspects of their new perspective of command-based leadership can be properly adopted and effectively implemented to answer current challenges, such as in terms of managing people in virtual conditions.

Abstract

Kesadaran Kebersihan dan Pengelolaan Sampah yang baik merupakan salah satu kebiasaan yang dapat berdampak pada kesehatan yang lebih baik. Kepedulian yang minim dalam menjaga lingkungan yang bersih diprediksi akan menimbulkan dampak buruk bagi lingkungan dan masyarakat. Selain itu, pengelolaan air bersih pada lingkungan merupakan salah satu hal yang perlu diperhatikan. Pengetahuan tentang pengolahan air bersih melalui Instalasi Pengelolaan Air Limbah (IPAL) akan memberikan dampak positif bagi keberlansungan air bersih di lingkungan masyarakat. Pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilakukan dengan Sosialisasi melalui pendekatan modal sosial. Pendekatan modal sosial dilakukan dalam pelaksanaan pengabdian kepada masyarakat dimana pendekatan ini digunakan sebagai wadah sosialisasi menjaga kebersihan lingkungan dan pengetahuan dalam pengolahan air bersih bagi msayarakat di Desa Muara Angke. Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk mensosialisasikan cara mengelola dan mengkategorikan macam-macam sampah, pengelolaan air bersih, dan desalinasi air yang dilakukan di daerah Muara Angke, Kecamatan Penjaringan, Jakarta Utara. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi langsung dan kuesioner yang diisi oleh peserta sebelum dan sesudah program pelatihan. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa kesadaran masyarakat meningkat yang dilihat dari hasil tes yang dilakukan menunjukkan peningkatan nilai dari materi yang di ujikan. Pendekatan yang tepat berhasil membangkitkan semangat dan komitmen warga yang tercermin dari tingginya tingkat partisipasi. Pelaksanaan kegiatan ini diharapkan memberikan pengetahuan dan kesadaran masyarakat dalam menjaga kebersihan lingkungan dan pengolahan air bersih.

Abstract

Tofu dregs are an agroindustrial organic byproduct generated in large quantities and still contain carbon-rich compounds such as carbohydrates, proteins, and lipids. This carbon content makes tofu dregs a promising alternative precursor for the synthesis of value-added carbon-based materials, one of which is carbon dots (C-Dots). This study aims to synthesize C-Dots derived from tofu dregs using a solvothermal method and to characterize the optical properties, functional groups, morphology, and elemental composition of the resulting material. The synthesis of C-Dots was carried out using a solvothermal process involving heating in a closed system using tofu dregs and 96% ethanol as the solvent. Characterization was performed using UV–Visible (UV–Vis) spectrophotometry, Fourier Transform Infrared–Attenuated Total Reflectance (FTIR–ATR), and Scanning Electron Microscopy coupled with Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (SEM–EDX). The UV–Vis analysis revealed an absorption band at approximately 451 nm, which is associated with π→π* electronic transitions in conjugated carbon structures, as well as a shoulder around 524 nm that can be attributed to n→π* transitions originating from lone pair electrons in oxygen-containing functional groups. FTIR analysis indicated the presence of O–H/N–H, C–H, C=C, C–O/C–O–C, and C–N functional groups on the surface of the C-Dots. Meanwhile, SEM analysis showed agglomerated particle morphology, and EDX results confirmed that the main constituent elements of the material are carbon (C), oxygen (O), and nitrogen (N). The results of this study demonstrate that tofu dregs have strong potential to be utilized as a biomass-derived precursor in the solvothermal synthesis of C-Dots.
