Abstract

This research aims to find out Javanese form and its relationship between locutor and interlocutor. This research is qualitative in nature. The location of this research is in the Surakarta Hadiningrat palace. The language variation used in this research is daily activity and official palace ceremonies. The data are derived from the verbal interaction among society of kraton in formal and informal situation. The data were collected by recording, observing, interviewing technique. The analysis data used Hymes, ethnography method communication. The result of the research shows that the Javanese forms consists of ngoko, madya, krama, krama inggil, kedhaton and even Indonesian. Related to the relation between locator and interlocutor, the form of Javanese affected by the horizontal and vertical relation accordance with social status in the palace. The pattern of using ngoko, madya, krama has changed, moreover when Indonesian has been their repertoire.

Abstract

The variety of language used by speakers in the Assalaam Modern islamic Boarding School and Al-Mukmin Ngruki Islamic Boarding School in Indonesia. The purpose of the study is to identify variations of language choice in the domain of friendship, education, religion, and work. The results showed that Indonesia is more dominant in the domain of friendship, education, religion, and work. Javanese is used in the domain of friendship, meanwhile English is used in the domain of education and friendship. Arabic is used in the domain of frindship, education, and religion. There are three types of language variations, namely single language variation, code switching, and code mixing.

Abstract

AbstrakBahasa merupakan media komunikasi yang dapat digunakan untuk mengungkapkan maksud penutur kepada mitratuturnya. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk mendeskripsikan permainan bahasa politik dalam Debat Pilkada 2020 di Kabupaten Wonogiri dan karakteristik Bahasa politik. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif dengan mengambil data dari media online. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan observasi, mencatat dan dokumentasi. Berdasarkan hasil analisis ditemukan bahwa 1) permainan bahasa dengan sindiran, 2) permainan bahasa dengan kritikan, 3) permainan bahasa dengan memberi harapan, 4) permainan bahasa dengan memberi motivasi, 5) permainan bahasa dengan menjelaskan. Karakteristik bahasa yang ditemukan dalam bahasa politik meliputi istilah dalam bidang politik dan pemerintahan, penggunaan gaya bahasa repetisi, dan penggunaan bentuk pasif.Kata-kata kunci: Bahasa politik, debat pilkada, sosiolinguistikAbstractLanguage is a communication device that can be used to express a speaker's intent to its partners. The purpose of this study is to describe the game of political language in the 2020 election debate in Wonogiri Regency and the characteristics of political language. This research is a qualitative descriptive study by taking data from online media. Data collection was carried out by observing, taking notes and documenting. Based on the analysis, it was found that 1) language games with satire, 2) language games with criticism, 3) language games by giving hope, 4) language games by giving motivation, 5) language games by explaining. Characteristics of language found in political language include terms in the fields of politics and government, use of repetitive language styles, and use of passive forms.Keywords: political language, election debate, Sociolinguistics

Abstract

This study aims to describe the portrait of social reality in American society related to sexual violence in the drama A Streetcar Named Desire. In this study, a qualitative method was used to show the data descriptively using the Van Dijk model of critical discourse analysis approach. The data in this study came from the drama A Streetcar Named Desire. The data was collected using the observation method, then continued with the note taking technique. The results of this study indicate that the sociocultural life of American society is full of violence, gambling and sex. Through Van Dijk's analysis, it can be concluded that the discourse construction of A Streetcar Named Desire with violence as a theme is a text constructed from sociocultural phenomena in America. The strong patriarchal culture in America is the social context behind the creation of texts with the theme of violence in the drama A Streetcar Named Desire. In this context, an author with a family life full of violence can be described in the life in the drama. Such family life is a representation of family life in America that is full of the violence.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui bentuk kata sapaan dalam masyarakat kraton Surakarta Hadiningrat pada waktu interaksi sosial. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif dengan mengambil lokasi penelitian di kraton Surakarta Hadiningrat. Pengumpulan datanya dilakukan dengan teknik observasi, wawancara dan teknik rekam. Analisis datanya digunakan metode analisis kontekstual. Dari hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemilihan bentuk kata sapaan dalam masyarakat kraton Surakarta Hadiningrat berdasarkan jenis kelamin dan usia, status sosial, hubungan akrab, dan situasi.

Abstract

ABTRACTThe purpose of this study describes the types of code switching and code mixing in Mell Shaliha Crying Winter novel and   the factors that cause code switching and code mixing. The method used in this research is qualitative method. This study uses a qualitative method. Data collection is done by observation and note-taking. The results of this study explain that code switching and code mixing events in the novel Crying Winter are found, namely internal and external code switching in the form of English into Indonesian and vice versa, Korean into Indonesian and the phenomenon of code mixing in the form of words, phrases, baster and clauses. The factors that influence the existence of code switching and code mixing are the participants, the situation, and the influence of the previous speech, and the aims of the conversation.Keywords: code switching, code mixing, Crying Winter novel

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find out the forms of speech acts between lecturers and students at Surakarta University in the verbal interactions in Surakarta University. The data in this study namely student and lecturer speech in teaching-learning interactions and outside teaching-learning interactions. Data collection was carried out by means of observation, interviews and notes. The results of this study indicate that the University of Surakarta includes locutionary, illocutionary, and perlocutionary speech acts. The most frequently occurring speech act is the illocutionary act which includes directives. The pragmatic power contained in conversations between lecturers and students in verbal interactions is realized through directive speech acts. The pragmatic powers found in the study including giving information, ordering, suggesting, praising and challenging.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pelatihan mengenai tenses bahasa Inggris kepada siswa Sekolah Menengah Pertama (SMP) di Omah Sinau Pelangi di Kabupaten Klaten secara daring. Terdapat berbagai hambatan yang dihadapi oleh siswa di Omah Sinau Pelangi dalam berkomunikasi dengan menggunakan bahasa Inggris yaitu berkaitan dengan kompetensi berbahasa. Dengan demikian, pelatihan tenses bahasa Inggris ini dapat membantu siswa dalam meningkatkan kemampuannya dalam keterampilan berbahasa Inggris sehingga siswa yang tidak memiliki latar belakang kompetensi bahasa Inggris akan mudah untuk belajar dan memiliki motivasi yang tinggi untuk meningkatkan kompetensi dalam bahasa Inggris. Metode pengabdian dilaksanakan dengan persiapan, pada tahap ini dilakukan pelaksanaan kegiatan berupa penyuluhan atau pemahaman tentang konsep tenses dan implementasinya, latihan soal dan penyusunan laporan pelaksanaan kegiatan. Hasil pengabdian yaitu setelah dilakukan pelatihan tenses bahasa Inggris, siswa terbantu dalam meningkatkan ketrampilan berbahasa Inggris.

Abstract

This study applies deconstruction, a key theory in postcolonial studies, to analyze and reinterpret the meaning within Tiara Andini's popular Indonesian song, Maafkan Aku. By examining both the literal meaning and its deconstruction, the research aims to uncover hidden layers of meaning in the song's lyrics. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data from the lyrics are analyzed through textual analysis and the concept of deconstruction. The analysis first identifies binary oppositions in the lyrics and then challenges these oppositions to reveal new interpretations. Findings highlight the contrast between themes of penitence (as the song’s explicit meaning) and expectation (as its underlying meaning). The lyrics deconstruct the notion of penitence as a "victim" with an opposing sense of expectation as a "villain." This study offers a nuanced exploration of how deconstruction unveils alternative interpretations, contributing to a broader understanding of how popular culture uses language to express complex emotional and relational dynamics.
