Abstract

Sharia insurance has increasingly developed as an alternative financial protection mechanism based on principles of justice, transparency, and mutual assistance. However, previous studies on Sharia insurance adoption have predominantly focused on Muslim consumers and religious-based motivations, providing limited understanding of how non-Muslim consumers perceive and participate in Sharia insurance within a pluralistic society. This study addresses this gap by examining the decision-making process of non-Muslim customers who participate in Sharia insurance and exploring whether their choices are influenced by religious identity or by broader ethical and functional considerations. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, this study conducted in-depth interviews with eight non-Muslim Sharia insurance participants in Medan City, Indonesia, selected through purposive sampling. The findings reveal that non-Muslim participation is primarily shaped by rational, ethical, and utilitarian considerations rather than theological motivations. Internal factors, including financial security motivation, perceived fairness, transparency, educational background, and economic capacity, interact with external factors such as peer influence, product attributes, service quality, promotional communication, and premium affordability in forming consumer decisions. This study advances knowledge by demonstrating that Sharia insurance can transcend religious boundaries and function as an inclusive ethical finance instrument within a multi-faith market. Theoretically, this research contributes to Islamic finance and consumer behavior literature by proposing a shift in understanding Sharia financial adoption from a faith-based consumption perspective toward an ethical-value and inclusive finance perspective. These findings suggest that expanding Sharia insurance acceptance requires emphasizing universal financial values rather than relying solely on religious identity-based marketing strategies.

Abstract

The development of the digital economy has driven an increase in the number of informal sector workers who rely on applications, including Gojek drivers who face quite high occupational risks. BPJS Ketenagakerjaan is present as a form of social protection for informal workers, but the participation rate of Gojek drivers in Medan City is still relatively low. This study aims to analyze the influence of income, contribution price, information, and service quality, both partially and simultaneously, on Gojek drivers' interest in joining BPJS Ketenagakerjaan. This study uses a quantitative approach with an explanatory research design. Data were obtained through questionnaires to 100 Gojek drivers in Medan City who are not yet BPJS Ketenagakerjaan participants using a purposive sampling technique. Data analysis was performed using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) through the SmartPLS 4.0 application. The results show that income, price, information, and service quality have a positive and significant effect on Gojek drivers' interest in joining BPJS Ketenagakerjaan. The information variable is the most dominant factor, followed by service quality, income, and contribution price. These findings indicate that increasing participation among informal workers is not solely influenced by economic factors, but also by access to information and the quality of services provided. This research is expected to serve as a reference for BPJS Ketenagakerjaan, local governments, and digital platform companies in formulating outreach strategies and improving services to expand social protection coverage for informal workers.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of human resource management (HRM) strategies in improving employee loyalty at PT Valbury Asia Futures Medan Branch. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation involving Financial Consultants (FC), Senior Financial Consultants (SFC), and management. Informants were selected using purposive sampling based on at least three months of work experience and understanding the companys work system. The findings show that the companys HRM strategies are primarily result-oriented, emphasizing performance-based compensation, high work targets, and reward and punishment mechanisms. Although the compensation system increases employee motivation, it has not effectively improved employee loyalty because of high work pressure and penalty policies. Furthermore, the absence of structured training programs, suboptimal implementation of standard operating procedures (SOP), and a highly competitive work environment also affect employee loyalty. Employee loyalty is reflected through responsibility, commitment, and willingness to remain with the company, although it tends to fluctuate. Overall, the effectiveness of HRM strategies at PT Valbury Asia Futures Medan Branch is not yet optimal because performance targets are not balanced with employee development. Therefore, improvements are needed through adjusting work targets, strengthening training programs, optimizing SOP implementation, and creating sustainable.

Abstract

This paper investigates the impact of halal literacy on consumer interest in purchasing halal-labeled sunscreen products in Medan. Utilizing data from 250 potential consumers and 15 business respondents, the study employed deep interviews and training sessions to assess how increased halal literacy influences consumer behavior. The findings reveal that consumers with a better understanding of halal principles exhibit a heightened interest in buying sunscreen with a halal logo, driven by perceived quality and religious compliance. The research highlights that while the halal logo alone may not suffice to boost consumer confidence, improved halal literacy significantly enhances trust and purchasing intentions. This increased literacy not only fosters consumer loyalty but also supports business sustainability by reinforcing the market position of halal products. The study concludes that ongoing education on halal standards is essential for manufacturers to effectively attract and retain consumers, emphasizing the need for clear communication about the benefits of halal certification. The implications suggest that businesses should invest in educational campaigns to bridge information gaps and leverage halal literacy to drive product sales.

Abstract

The telecommunications sector is a pivotal driver of Indonesia’s digital economic growth, particularly amid the rapid adoption of information and communication technologies. CV Digital Satelit Indonesia—a service enterprise specializing in telecommunications equipment repair—has expanded its operations by integrating Islamic economic principles. This study examines how service ethics, innovative pricing, and digital marketing influence business growth within a Sharia-compliant framework. Using a quantitative design, data from 50 purposively selected respondents were analyzed through validity and reliability tests, classical assumption checks, and t- and F-tests. Findings reveal that service ethics and price innovation have a statistically significant, positive impact on business development, while digital marketing shows no significant effect. Service ethics emerged as the strongest predictor (p = 0.001), indicating that delivery grounded in honesty, accountability, and integrity fosters greater trust and loyalty. The limited impact of digital marketing likely stems from promotional content lacking the emotional and spiritual depth needed to convey Islamic values effectively. Collectively, however, all independent variables significantly affect growth, highlighting the strategic value of embedding Sharia principles in service and pricing, alongside refining Islamic-oriented digital marketing to strengthen its persuasive capacity
