Abstract

This study examines efforts to improve fourth-grade students' disciplinary character through the implementation of principal's democratic leadership style and teacher personality competence at SDK Riangwulu, East Flores. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, the research was conducted over two weeks involving the principal, fourth-grade homeroom teacher, and fourth-grade students as research subjects. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation studies, then analyzed using an interactive analysis model. The results show that students' disciplinary character is in a good category across four indicators: compliance with school rules, compliance with learning activities, compliance in completing assignments, and neatness in wearing uniforms. The principal's democratic leadership style is implemented through consensus-based policies, high tolerance, creating a family atmosphere, and good communication. Teacher personality competence is reflected in the ability to be a role model, build positive relationships with students, and create authority through personality consistency. The main finding shows a positive synergy between the principal's democratic leadership and teacher personality competence that creates a conducive environment for forming students' disciplinary character. This research contributes theoretically to understanding systemic approaches in character education and provides practical implications for developing character formation strategies at the elementary education level.

Abstract

This study aims to explore effective character education management strategies to address the negative impacts of social media use on adolescents. This research employed a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) to analyze studies on character education, digital citizenship, and social media, focusing on their impact on adolescents. A qualitative approach was used, synthesizing peer-reviewed journal articles, books, and conference papers published in the last five years from academic databases like Google Scholar, PubMed, and Scopus. Data collection involved selecting relevant studies based on specific keywords and predetermined criteria. The collected data were then analyzed through several stages: first, screening and classifying the selected literature; second, extracting key variables such as research focus, methodology, and outcomes; and third, performing a narrative synthesis to identify recurring themes, patterns, and gaps in current research. The results showed that integrating character education with digital citizenship education is crucial in equipping adolescents with the skills to interact positively online. Furthermore, the role of educators trained in technology and digital ethics is essential to help adolescents manage the psychological impacts of social media. The biggest challenge faced is the lack of a curriculum that explicitly integrates digital citizenship with character education. A phenomenon-based approach has proven effective in addressing this challenge by providing students with real-life experiences. In conclusion, digital-based character education can improve adolescents' skills in managing social media use more responsibly. This research makes an important contribution to the development of a more relevant educational curriculum in the digital era.

By reviewing existing literature, this study identifies gaps in the current use of these technologies and proposes strategies to overcome barriers related to their implementation. The findings suggest that integrating Big Data and Learning Analytics into HRM practices can significantly improve decision-making, foster teacher development, and ultimately contribute to better academic and non-academic outcomes. The study concludes that a data-driven approach to HRM is essential for optimizing educational management and achieving sustainable improvements in teaching and learning. Further research is needed to explore effective strategies for the integration of these technologies into HRM practices to fully realize their potential in education.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: This study examines how character values are developed through cognitive and emotional engagement within school–family collaboration. It focuses on the roles of teachers, parental involvement, and student participation in supporting character formation. Methodology: A descriptive phenomenological design was used with nine purposively selected participants, including school leaders, teachers, parents, and students. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documents, then analyzed thematically using ATLAS.ti 7. Credibility was ensured through triangulation and member checking. Main Findings: Teacher shape character through modeling and instructional guidance; parents reinforce values through example and communication; and students show engagement through reflection and cooperative behavior. Strong school family synergy shared routines, communication, and aligned expectations enhances character habituation, though challenges remain in teacher capacity, parental involvement, and cultural constraints. Cognitive and emotional engagement act as mediating processes in character formation and align with contemporary character education theories. The study also highlights a contextual gap in the existing literature, particularly the limited attention to culturally grounded and community-based approaches in character education. Novelty/Originality of this study: The study offers a culturally rooted phenomenological model integrating cognitive emotional engagement with school family collaboration. Policies should reinforce educator training, parental participation, and consistent value-based routines across home and school settings.

Abstract

The Community Service activity targeting the congregation at St. Darius Riangpuho Parish is an important initiative aimed at enhancing the congregation's understanding of liturgical music. This service is based on the congregation's lack of understanding about liturgical music and the demand for the importance of liturgical values. In the Catholic Church, liturgical music is an integral part of the liturgy, aiming to glorify God and sanctify the faithful. The purpose of this service is to improve the understanding of liturgical music and to train the congregation in selecting liturgical songs in accordance with the theme of the Eucharistic celebration. The method employed is Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR), with an empowerment model grounded in faith. The results of this activity indicate that the congregation now has a deeper understanding of liturgical music and can select songs in line with the theme of the liturgical celebration. The hope is that liturgical music catechesis can be programmed continuously by the parish or diocese to improve the quality of liturgical music in the Eucharistic celebrations.
