Abstract

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever is an infectious disease that often causes outbreaks. In Indonesia, the CFR of DHF in 2021 reached 0.96%, this figure increased from the previous year, which was 0.69%. Various efforts have been made to prevent transmission of the dengue virus, for example the use of larvicides for the eradication of Aedes, as a vector for transmitting dengue. The type of research in the Bio Larvicide B. Thuringiensis test is a pure experiment with a posttest only control design. The study was conducted to determine the effect of giving B. thuringiensis on the mortality of A. aegypti larvae in conditions that almost resembled their natural habitat. The study population was all larvae of Aedes instar III from the colonies of the Salatiga B2P2VRP Laboratory. Sampling was done randomly/simple random, ie all third instar larvae had the opportunity to be used as research and control samples. The mortality of Aedes larvae from the intervention of VectoBac WG (Bio Larvicide with the active ingredient B. thuringiensis) from each concentration at 60 minutes of observation, namely the mortality of Aedes larvae in the control group was 0%, at a concentration of 0.001 g/L was 93%, at a concentration of 0.002 g/L as much as 98%, a concentration of 0.004 g/L, 0.006 g/L and 0.008 g/L as much as 100%. The results of this study can be used as a reference for the use of VectoBac WG products as natural larvicides and an alternative in controlling mosquito vector populations.

Abstract

Background: Mask usage has been determined as the main, most effective preventive measure for COVID-19 during the pandemic to limit viral transmission. The obligation of regular mask usage and replacement from health protocols across the globe has really affected the rise of mask waste in the environment. However, the waste of used mask more often than not, found in places they don’t belong. This phenomenon is connected to public awareness and how they implement good health practice on daily basis. Mask waste are also found often near where the university students live, even though they were expected to be the pillars of the public eye in terms of giving good examples regarding public health practices and measures. The objective of this research is to describe the differences found in health practices among health students in university and other students that don’t come from health faculties. Methods: Cross-sectional design was used for this descriptive, quantitative research, with simple random sampling as the sampling technique, where all university students in Semarang have the same chance to be chosen as the respondents, obtaining 333 in total.Result: According to bivariate analysis conducted, good practice on handling mask waste is found more among the health students (65,6%) compared to non-health students. On the contrary, bad practice on handling mask waste is found more among the non-health students (56,9%) compared to health students. Conclusion: Good practice on handling mask waste has been implemented well by most of the health students compared to the non-health students, whereas bad practice on handling mask waste is still found more among the non-health students compared to the health students.

Abstract

The change in the learning mechanism from face-to-face to distance learning during the COVID-19 pandemic occurred not only in formal schools but also in corporate training, for example, in the electricity office. One of the challenges in implementing distance learning is achieving participant understanding. The understanding of participants in digital education and training can be influenced by several factors, such as their learning activities when learning is carried out online. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between the learning activity variables of the participants and the level of understanding of the training participants using digital learning and self-learning methods in the electricity office. This research is an observational analytic study using the cross-sectional method with a sample of 57 electricity office employees. Collecting research data using a questionnaire distributed through the Google Form platform. The chi-square test was used in the statistical analysis, with a significance level of p 0.05. The results of this study indicate that there is a relationship between the participants' learning activities (p=0.000) and the training participants' understanding of digital learning and self-learning methods in the electricity office. Therefore, efforts to increase participants' learning activities through digital learning and self-learning methods need to be carried out in order to increase participants' understanding and lead to successful teaching and learning activities.

Abstract

The still high number of tuberculosis cases in Medan City is proof that the value of health is still low. This is proven by the high number of tuberculosis cases at the Sentosa Baru Community Health Center. Therefore, it is necessary to know the existence of risk factors for tuberculosis and the reasons for them in sufferers in the Sentosa Baru Community Health Center working area. This type of research is descriptive observational research with a cross-sectional approach. The sample in this study was 64 respondents who were tuberculosis sufferers in the work area of the Sentosa Baru Health Center. The research results show that the majority are of productive age with a high school education level and good (50%) or less (50%) knowledge. Smoking habits were primarily found in the moderate category (31.3%), and the habit of wearing masks was minimal (65.5%). Most had the habit of opening windows (67.2%) but had never removed phlegm in a particular container (40.6%). Observation results showed that the majority already had floors (87.5%) and walls (78.1%) that met the requirements, but only (15.6%) had glass tiles in their homes. Based on the results of cross-tab research, a comparison was made between the level of knowledge, age, level of education, and risk factors. It was concluded that age, level of education, level of knowledge, type of floor, type of wall, availability of glass tiles, smoking habits, habits of wearing masks, habits of opening windows, and habits of expelling phlegm were the reasons that influenced this.
