Abstract

Dragonflies (and damselfly) are closely related to ecosystems, both aquatic and terrestrial. Dragonflies act as predators when they are nympha and adults, so they are often used as bioindicators of environmental quality. Setu Cileunca is an artificial reservoir built in 1857 with the main function for electricity generation. This research aims to analyze the dragonfly diversity in Setu Cileunca, West Java. The research was carried out in June 2023 in five habitat types including setu, pine forests, cultivated area, rivers and settlements. Dragonfly data was taken using a 100x20 meter strip method. Quantitative analysis was carried out using (1) chi-square test, (2) diversity index (H'), (3) evenness index (E), and (4) similarity index (IS). There were 19 species of dragonflies found from two sub-orders and six families. The most common species are found in cultivated areas (17 species) while the least common are in pine forest (4 species). The number of individuals found ranged from four individuals (pine forest) to 252 individuals (cultivated area). The chi-square test showed significantly different values for both of number of species and number of individuals. The H' value for all locations is 2.48 and the E value is 0.84. The IS values ranged from 0.17-0.88.

Abstract

Asinan bogor, commonly known as Bogor salty pickles, represents a traditional delicacy of Bogor, Indonesia, consisting of processed vegetables and fruits consumed raw alongside various additional ingredients.  This research aims to delve into the uniqueness of asinan bogor.  The study was conducted through surveys interviews, and questionnaires administered to 40 asinan Bogor sellers in Bogor City.  Sellers unanimously recognize asinan bogor as a Bogor traditional dish.  Sellers exhibit the highest level of knowledge concerning raw materials, with history being their least familiar aspect.  While no main ingredients are obligatory, specific components hold priority, such as bean sprouts for vegetables pickled; and mango, water guava, and jicama for fruits pickled.  Mandatory seasoning ingredients include ground red chili, salt, and water.  The composition of asinan ingredients varies based on consumer preferences.  Antanan is rarely utilized as a primary ingredient, whereas salted mustard green epitomizes Chinese cuisine.  Currently, the serving of asinan bogor is predominantly in plastic packaging, deviating from on-site consumption, particularly for souvenir packaging.  The paramount uniqueness of the asinan bogor lies in the gravy.

Abstract

Birds are ecosystem components that can adapt to human-dominated landscapes. Therefore, they can be found in various man-made landscapes. The Sawarna Beach Tourism Area (SBTA) is a combination of natural and rural landscapes and is developing as a tourist destination. This research aims to analyze the diversity of birds in SBTA. The study was conducted in June 2023 in three types of habitats (beach, farm, and paddy fields). Bird data was taken using the point count method, while habitat data was described according to the main components are vegetation and substrate. Bird data was analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively with (1) species Diversity Index (H'), (2) species Evenness Index (E), and (3) community Similarity Index (IS). There were 32 birds species found from eight orders and 18 families. Of all the species, nine are protected species under Indonesian law, and one species is listed in Appendix II on the CITES-listed animals. The birds found are seabirds e.g. White tern (Gygis alba); shorebirds e.g. Little ringed plover (Charadrius dubius); water birds e.g. Great egret (Ardea alba); as well as terrestrial birds e.g. Streaked weaver (Ploceus manyar) and Javan-green magpie (Cissa thalassina). Variations in bird groups result from differences in habitats. The H' value is 2.39, which is classified as a medium category, and the E value of 0.68 is also classified as a medium category. The IS value indicates that the farm and paddy field habitats have a greater IS value than the beach habitat.

Abstract

Kawah Putih is managed by Perum Perhutani Unit III Jawa Barat dan Banten with protected forest status as well as a tourist area in the form of the Kawah Putih Tourism Area (WWNP). The main attraction is the white crater as a mountain caldera from the eruption of Mount Patuha at an altitude of 2400 meters above sea level. This area is a mountainous tropical rainforest remaining on the island of Java so it is special in relation to biodiversity data including birds. Therefore, this study aims to analyze bird diversity in WWNP and its surroundings. The research was carried out in July 2022 using the MacKinnon list and index point abundance. Data was analyzed qualitatively, namely the status of bird species and quantitatively by calculating species diversity index (H') and species evenness (E). The richness of bird was found to be 67 species from 29 families and seven orders. There are 10 species of birds protected by the Indonesian Government and two types are included in IUCN threathened species. All species are resident, there are no migrant species. Eight species are endemic to Java and three species are endemic to Java-Bali. Some species are typical mountain birds. Comparison with previous research shows that 25 species were recorded again, 24 were not recorded again, and 42 species were new records. The H' value obtained is included in the high diversity category, namely 3.73, as well as the E value, which is in the high evenness category, namely 0.89.
