Abstract

This research aimed to explain the students' English learning style of eighth-grade students of MTs Negeri 1 Lubuklinggau. The method applied in this research was the descriptive quantitative method. All the eighth-grade students of MTs Negeri 1 Lubuklinggau in the academic year of 2018/2019 were this research's subject. The population was 244 students. Whiles sample of this research was taken by using simple random sampling. There were 30 students in class VIII as the sample result. To get the data, the researcher used a questionnaire and interview. The data were analyzed by describing students' answers and dividing students' English learning styles into three categories: 1) Visual Learning Style, 2) Auditory Learning Style, and 3) Kinesthetic Learning Style. Based on the result of data analysis, the researchers found that: 1) 10 (33.33%) students as visual learners, 2) 13 (43.33%) students as auditory learners, and 3) 7 (23.33%%) students as kinesthetic learners. In conclusion, the auditory learning style was the most frequently used style by the students. Whereas the least frequently learning style used by VIII.6 class of MTs Negeri 1 Lubuklinggau was kinesthetic. Keywords: English, Learning style, Students.

Abstract

Abstract This research aimed to analyze errors in order to obtain kinds, differences and causes of error between male and female students in changing active to passive voice. Sample of this research was the twelfth grade students of SMA Negeri 5 Lubuklinggau. The method of the research was qualitative descriptive research. The researcher used test and interview as the technique to collect the data. In analyzing the data, the researcher used four steps were: first, collecting the data, second is identifying the data, third, describing data and finally, the researcher explains the data. The results showed that there are four kinds of error made by male students in changing active to passive are; Misformation errors with 68.84%, Misordering 21.34% Omission 8.70%, and Addition 0.72%. On the other hand, there are only 3 kinds of error made by female students are; Misformation error 53.47%, Misordering 29.37%, Omission 17.16%. From the result of written test, the differences between male and female students in changing active to passive voice is male students tend to make more error than female students. In addition, the researcher found three causes of error made by male and female students in this analysis namely; interlingual transfer, intralingual transfer and communication strategies. In conclusion, this research showed that there are 4 kinds of error and 3 causes of errors between male and female students, and male students tend to make more errors than female students in changing active to passive voice. Abstract

Dalam proses pembelajaran, penggunaan media merupakan salah komponen pendukung guna tercapainya tujuan pembelajaran. Media pembelajaran merupakan salah satu komponen yang harus ada dalam Rencana Pelaksanaan Pembelajaran (RPP). Penggunaan media sangat dibutuhkan untuk menunjang keberhasilan proses pembelajaran. Banyaknya ketersediaan kardus dan botol bekas, dapat dijadikan sebagai salah saru media yang bisa digunakan oleh guru-guru di SD di Megang Sakti Kabupaten Musi Rawas. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memberikan motivasi kepada masyarakat terutama guru SD di Megang sakti untuk selalu meng-upgrade pengetahuan dan menjelaskan kepada masyarakat tentang pemanfaat limbah kardus dan botol bekas menjadi barang yang bermanfaat seperti menjadi mdeia pembelajaran. Dalam pelaksanaannya yang dilakukan selama 4 hari yakni pada tanggal 16 Februari 2021 hingga 19 Februari 2021, penyuluhan dan pelatihan diterapkan dala kegiatan PPM ini. Yang menjadi sarasan kegiatan adalah masyarakat yang terdiri dari anak-anak, orang tua dan guru-guru SD di Kecamatan Megang Sakti. Setelah kegiatan PPM dilaksanakan, anak-anak menjadi lebih antusisa dalam mengikuti proses pembelajaran. Guru-guru SD di Kecamatan Megang Sakti juga menjadi lebih termotivasi dalam menggunakan media pembelajaran terutama dengan memanfaatkan limbah kardus dan botol bekas yang banyak tersedia di lingkungan sekitar mereka.

Abstract

Masyarakat desa SP 3 Mekar Sari terpantau sebagian besar berprofesi sebagai petani, Terdapat banyak perkebunan sawit dan karet di sana. Program Pengabdian pada masyarakat ini adalah Optimalisasi Pemanfaatan Biji Karet (Hevea Brasiliensis) menjadi Gantungan Kunci dan Stik PISTOP (Pisang Toping). Tujuan dari kegiatan ini adalah untuk mengoptimalisasikan pemanfaatan Sumber Daya Alam yang melimpah berupa biji karet dan pisangsebagai bahan pembuatan produk unggulan yaitu gantungan kunci dan stikpistop (pisang toping). Adapun yang menjadi sasaran dalam kegiatan pengabdian kali ini adalah seluruh warga desa SP 3 Mekar Sari yang meliputi Perangkat Desa, ibu-ibu PKK, Organisasi Kepemudaan, dan masyarakat setempat. Metode yangdigunakan dalam pelaksaanaan program ini adalah metode observasi, wawancara, sosialisasi, tanya jawab, dan pelatihan. Hasil dari kegiatan ini adalah memberikan keterampilan berwirausaha pada masyarakat dengan memanfaatkan sumber daya alam yang ada di desa Mekar Sari, sehingga masyarakat dapat menciptakan lapangan usaha mandiri yang dapat meningkatkan taraf perekonomian dan kesejahteraan hidup.

Abstract

Pendidikan merupakan satu komponen terpenting dalam meningkatkan mutu sumber daya manusia. Jembatan terbaik dalam meraih impian adalah melalui pendidikan. Sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa pendidikan memegang peranan penting dalam meraih cita-cita. Menurut Kamus Pusat Pembinaan dan Pengembangan Bahasa Departemen Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan (1995: 232) pendidikan adalah proses perubahan sikap dan tata laku seseorang atau kelompok orang dalam usaha mendewasakan manusia melalui upaya pengajaran dan pelatihan. Proses pembelajaran didalam menjadi hal yang mendasar untuk dapat dioptimalkan secara maksimal. Pendidikan yang diterapkan untuk memajukan kesejahteraan masyarakat. Salah satu materi pembelajaran yang diberikan adalah pelajaran bahasa. Salah satu bahasa yang sangat berpengaruh didalam kemajuan dunia pendidikan adalah Bahasa Inggris.

Abstract

Rendahnya motivasi untuk bisa berbicara di depan umum, kurangnya pengalaman, dan kurangnya pengetahuan tentang metode dan trik mudah dalam berbicara di depan umum menjadi alasan diadakannya kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat untuk pemuda-pemudi Ikatan Remaja Masjid (IKAREMA) di Kelurahan Ponorogo, Kota Lubuklinggau. Berlangsung selamatiga dua hari, adapun metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan ini adalah 1) penyampaian materi, 2) simulasi, dan 3) mentoring. Setelah pelaksanaan pelatihan, peserta menunjukkan tumbuhnya motivasi, semangat dan antusiasme dalam berbicara di depan umum. Selain itu, mereka juga telah memiliki pengetahuan dan pengalaman dalam berbicara di depan umum yang sangat mereka butuhkan ketika mengadakan kegiatan-kegiatan kemasyarakatan di lingkungan tempat tinggal mereka termasuk di sekolah mereka.

Abstract

Reading was an activity of seeing, observing a series of written symbols and understanding the information contained in a paragraph. Reading be important skill that must be mastery by students. The aimed of the research were to describe the students’ problem in learning Reading Comprehension and to describe Experiment-Text-Relationship (ETR) method play a role in improving students' reading comprehension. This research designed in qualitative method that focused in library research. The subject in this research was seven articles that published in the journals. In collecting the data, the writer reding research article in ETR and in analyzing the data, the writer identifying and classifiying. The results showed : students had less spirit in following the lesson and they confuse about understanding part of the reading skills. After used Experiment-Text-Relationship (ETR) method, students’ score were increase ftom the post test data. It can be concluding that Experiment-Text-Relationship (ETR) method as solution in teaching reading comprehension.

This research aimed to discover the lecturers' challenges in teaching during the pandemic situation at PGRI Silampari University. The method used in this research was the descriptive qualitative approach. The subjects of this research were five lecturers in the English education study program. In collecting the data, the researcher used two instruments. There were questionnaires and interviews. The researcher followed three concurrent activity flows to analyze the data: data condensation, data display, and conclusion, for the results showed some challenges they faced when implementing teaching and learning activities in blended learning both in the online and offline classroom. The challenges were the lack of student control and monitoring, the problem in applying technology, and the problem with time allocation due to the Pandemic. In conclusion, students faced many challenges in teaching by applying blended learning during Pandemic Covid -19 at PGRI Silampari University. Keywords: blended learning, challenges, lecturer. Abstract

This research aimed to find out the expert validity of developed modul “General English Modul” at PGRI Silampari University (UNPARI). The method used in this research was descriptive qualitative. There were three experts in validating the modul. They were expert of content, expert of instructional design and expert of media. The instrument used in collecting data was questionnaire. In analyzing data, the researchers read all comments given by experts for each espertise (data condensation). After that, the coment was interpreted by the researchers and rechecked to the experts (data display). Finally, the developed modul was revised based on the suggestion. For the results showed that for content validity, the expert coclude that the modul was in highly validity, but she suggested some revision. In validating instructional design, the expert also received the modul but with some revisions. And the last, there were some aspect of media such as the brightness of the cover, pictures and color must be revised. Finally, in conclusion, the modul of General English subject at UNPARI was accepted with some revision. Keywords: General English Modul, Validity
