Abstract

The utilization of plants as natural dye  products has long been used by Dayak Iban tribe lives in the Tekalong and Kelawik subvillage. Most of plants is used obtained from the forest surrounding their subvillages. The research uses descriptive methode by observation technique, the data collected with semi structural interview. Based on it the Tekalong and Kelawik subvillages are obtained 3 of the key responden and 18 general responden. There are 22 plants consist of 15 families by Dayak Iban tribe as natural dye source, there are 36 type of colouring result. The natural dyeing process used by Iban tribe are consist of 3 stages, mordanting, extracting and fixation. The products resulted are woven fabric and songket woven fabric, with the kinds of fabric motif from their philosophy. There are consist of fabric, bag and woven scarf, with the price from 90.000 for scarf to 5.000.000 for the woven.Keyword: Dayak  Iban tribe, Natural Dye and Textile.

Abstract

The Riam (cascade) Sengiang area is the administrative region neighboring Nanga Kempangai Village District of Ella Hillir Melawi. The area is located in the basin of Ella River ,it define the status of the region and needs to be developed into a  natural tourism area. With the establishment plan can provide good benefits to the surrounding community, goverment agencies as well as the environment. Relating to the needs above, this research tried to investigate public perceptions in the Riam Sengiang. The research showed of data analysis showed that the public perception of the plan designation of Riam sengiang as the object for natural tourism in this area have a high perception with 63,33 %, moderate perception with 20.00% and low perception with 16,67 %. This high level of public perception village have awardness the importance things to establish the ecotourism area that has an impact for environment, the community's economy and the lives of their children and grandchildren in the future. Abstract

The usage of wood is not limited to household appliances but also used wood for the exterior. Wood have a high decorative value because of its color and fiber pattern. Wood decorative value increase the economic value of wood. Sengon (Paraserianthes Falcataria (L). Nielsen), one of wood species which not have interesting pattern and color thus through this research dyeing process conducted to know the optimum concentration of Sengon staining by using several natural extract such as the rind of Mangstosteen fruit (Garcinia mangostana L.), bark of Acacia mangium and Mangrove tree bark. There were four level of concentration used 5%, 10% , 15% and 20%. The result showed that the highest extract yield percentage derived from A. mangium bark followed by mangrove bark and mangoosten fruit rind (32.67%, 29.09% and 28.37 respectively). While for pH value, mangoosteen fruit rind extract have the highest value followed by mangove bark extract and A. Mangium bark (5.8-6, 5-7 and 5-5.2 respectively). The highest absorbance value derived from A. Mangium bark extract followed by mangosteen fruit rind extract and mangrove bark extract (0.715 ppm, 0.476 ppm and 0.439 ppm respectively). A. Mangium bark extract also shown the highest absorbance followed by mangrove bark extract and mangosteen fruit rind (0.699 ppm, 0.477 ppm and 0.4 ppm) in 478 nm wavelength with 800C. Dyeing process with mangosteen fruit rind extract with 20% concentration resulted highest retention value (9.064 kg/m3) while for the brightness resulted from 10% concentration. Abstract

Local wisdom is a community's belief born form its ancestor which has positive value that has been assured from generation to generation and has become local culture. This research aims to find out the types of the local wisdom and to view the strategic actions in keeping that local wisdoms used by customary institutions. This research was conducted toward Dayak Seberuang tribe community of Gurung Mali village, Tempunak subdistrict, Sintang regency. The method used survey with SWOT analysis. The result of this research found that the local wisdoms of Gurung Mali village, Tempunak subdistrict, Sintang regency's community are: There is a belief toward Nabau (dragon) monster, sacred lands, mystical ladder and supernatural, and The very important roles of customary institutions in preserving local wisdom to always be held by the community. There are a few actions took by customary institutions in keeping the local wisdom such as; Coordinating to the community, implementing their duties based on their functions and understanding their customs explicitly. Meanwhile, the obstacles faced by customary institutions in preserving local wisdom are; The lack of indigenous people's knowledge towards customary sanctions. The lack of indigenous people's understanding towards land boundaries around the village. The lack of government's attention to conduct elucidation about Tembawang efficacy. From various strategic actions and the obstacles the customary institutions faced can be seen that the difference score between strength - effect and weakness - effect is 1,156 shows that Tembawang at Gurung Mali village has strength that; the customary institutions and the community coordinate to each other in preserving the sustainability of Tembawang. The difference score between opportunity - effect and threat - effect is 0,345 shows that Tembawang is potentially to become an ecotourism forest due to its sustainability and its wisdom.Keyword: Community, Customary institutions, forest, Local wisdom and Tembawang

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the Malay community knowledge in Mengkiang village Sanggau Regency in the use of medicinal plants and to know content of secondary metabolites in plants through the stages of phytochemical test. The research was conducted by interview, observation, literature study and test phytochemicals of the plant that have not been identified through the literature. The results showed there are 60 types of medicinal plant into a distribution of 37 family, with is the highest family is Euphorbiaceae (5 species), the highest habitus is a herb (25 species/41.67%), used parts of plant are leaves (35 species/58.33%) , highest processing by boiling (35 species/58.33%), the highest used by drink (39 species/65%), 55 species/91.67%) is included in the form of a single herb. The result of phytochemical known that the Pisang hias plant (Heliconia colinsiana) contain alkaloids, saponins, quinones, flavonoids; jomai leaves and lomak leaves contain alkaloids, tannins, leaves hair kuncur (Tibouchina heteromalla) contain alkaloids, saponins, tannins and susu kambing leaves (Euphorbia hirta L) contains alkaloids, tannins and flavonoids. Abstract

The objective of this research was to determine the anti-termite properties of bark extract of gerunggang (Cratoxylon arborescens Bl) on rubber wood (Hevea brasiliensis) and determine the optimum concentration levels in rubber wood (H. brasiliensis) to inhibit the attack of subterranean termites (Coptotermes curvignathus Holmgren). Variables in this study are the observation of retention gerunggang bark extract (C. arborescens), the mortality of subterranean termites (C. curvignathus) and weight loss of rubber wood sample (H. brasiliensis). The results showed that the highest retention of rubber wood found at concentration 5% with a value of 2.2480 kg/m3, the highes termite mortality at concentration 4% and 5% with a value 100% and the lowest wood sample weight loss found at concentrations of 5% to value of 13.2791%. Abstract

West Borneo is very famous for the tropical rain forest that many various types of plant species.  Plant species used by very diverse societies, such as the plant underground layers, liana, terna, shrubs, and   the other tree species variety.  In line with the level of public awareness will be health care, use of medications derived from plants or treatment in the traditional way more popular.  Remember which can cure diseases and to work with more secure and economical, then constantly socialized to the community so that embedded a culture of using medicinal plants as options that align with medical treatment. The purpose of this research is to know the types of medicinal plants and its utilization by the villagers of timber cropping, knowing the benefits of medicinal plants and parts used and how to make it.  This research uses the technique of deskriftip with interviews and identification in the field, which is a descriptive addressed to people who know and recognize the utilization of medicinal plants, namely the respondent elected, among others, the village shaman/bahtra.  Based on the results of research on medicinal plants and its utilization around the village of timber Cropping sub Regency Landak, Foreman found 50 plant species grouped in 32 drug family.  Based on habitusnya, level a lot more herbs used as medicinal plants that is as much as 21 species (42%), based on the used section leaves a lot be utilized that is as much as 15 species (30%), based on how to use, how to drink a lot more use IE as much as 31 species (62%) based on the way of processing, boiling is used which is as much as 21 species (42%) and the form of the herb which is the most widely used is a form of single herb 49 species (98 percent).  In an effort to maintain and preserve knowledge society, need to be encouraged the cultivation of different kinds of plants that are utilized by the community and the need to do more research about the research contents of chemical types were found. Abstract

AbstractThis research was carried out in four locations of the Tembawang Forest in Lingkungan Semajau  (RW 9), namely Semajau (T1), Tebanan (T2), Sebayur (T3), and Koling (T4). In addition, interviews were also held with people who living near health facilitiy (RW 2), in Beringin Village of Kapuas Subdistrict of Sanggau Regency, West Kalimantan. This research aims to documented the medicinal plants and the knowledge of medicinal plants utilization used by traditional healers and communities of RW 2 and RW 9 of Beringin Village. In this research, we found a total of number of 100 medicinal plants species used by traditional healers, and it belonging into 55 families. The most common family is the Zingiberaceae, and tree habitus is the most common habitus found in all four Semajau tembawang forests. The parts of medicinal plants used by the community of Beringin Village are in the form of roots, seeds, fruit, flowers, leaves, bark, fruit skin, rhizomes, tubers, and all parts of medicinal plants. The most common method of processing medicinal plants is boiling, and oral (eat or drink) are the most common administration method.Keywords: Beringin Village, Medicinal Plants, Sanggau Regency, Tembawang Forest, Traditional Knowledge.

Abstract

The aim of the study was to extract Avicennia marina Vierh leaf and used for anti-fungal against  Schizophyllum commune Fries, and to evaluate the best concentration of extract A. marina in inhibiting the growth of S.commune fungi. The leaf of A. marina was found in Bakau Kecil village in Mempawah Regency.  The leaf was made into particle with size 40-60 mesh then extracted with methanol in ratio 1:5 (w/v). The extract of A. marina leaf was made into concentration 0%, 1%, 2%, 3%, 4%, and 5%. The extract then poured into PDA and one cell of S. commune fungi was put in the center of PDA, The bioassay of evaluation the inhibition of fungal growth was conducted on seven days. After seven days the anti-fungal activity was measured. Result of the research showed that the growth of fungi on concentration 1% was 35.62 mm; on concentration 2% was 33.17 mm and on concentration 3% was 27.09 mm. Meanwhile on concentration 4% and 5% the fungi was not growth, either from the first day until the end of bioassay at the seven days. Vice versa on control (0% concentration) the fungal growth until the all of the petri dish with average 91.40 mm. Concentration of extract A. marina leaf 4% and concentration 5% was classified in very strong anti-fungal activities. E xtract methanol of A. marina leaf with concentration 4% can be used to inhibition the S. commune fungi with very strong anti-fungal activities.Keywords : Anti fungal, Avicennia marina Vierh, leaf, Schizophyllum commune Fries, wood preservation

Abstract

Mangrove forest ecosystem is a place to live living things and plants that live in the tidal area of the sea. For coastal communities the presence of mangrove honey is very beneficial, especially for fishermen. Because mangrove forests are their place of livelihood, one of them is forest honey which can increase their economic growth. Not only that mangrove forests provide a lot of environmental services that can play an important role in their survival as well as the environment around them and have a considerable impact on the current climate conditions of the world. The research aims to see how the potential of the mangrove ecosystem towards the existence of forest bees. As well as the availability of feed or flower extract nectar in the mangrove forest area that is needed as forest bee food and the value of benefits for forest honey farmers to the presence of forest bees (Apis Dorsata) in Batu Ampar Village, Kubu Raya Regency. This study uses a survey method by looking directly at the honeycomb attached to each tree. The results showed that the relative frequency of mangrove forests was 100%. For the relative abundance obtained at 17% while the actual dominance is 100% with INP 2.17. While the total benefit value is Rp.476,141,924 with moderate levels of diversity. Mangrove forests provide the role of ecosystems in the presence of forest bees (Apis dorsata) in attaching their nests to nyiri trees (Xylocarpus granitus). For bee feed is found in nipah (Nypa) which has complete flowes are on the nypa has full flower.Keywords: Forest Bee, Mangrove Ecosystem
