The development of technology and communication has given birth to the Baby Boomers generation, generation X, generation Y, generation Z, and generation Alpha. Each generation has different characteristics in learning activities. Bahasa Indonesia for foreign speakers (BIPA) can be learned from the Baby Boomers generation to the Alpha generation. Characteristic differences among generations in learning BIPA should be adjusted regarding the learning model used. The suitable learning model for each generation’s characteristic makes the learning BIPA easier for the students and teachers to achieve the learning goals. This study aims to describe the BIPA learning model based on the characteristics from each generation of students. The research method used is literature study. The results of this study are producing BIPA learning model across generation which is consisting of (1) BIPA learning procedure, (2) learning environment, and (3) supporting system in learning. The BIPA learning procedure is the teaching phases developed by BIPA teachers based on the characteristics of the BIPA student’s generation with the purpose of achieving the competency standards. The learning environment is created based on the social system and the characteristics of the BIPA students’ generation. Abstract

The view of feminism is always related to the position and existence of women in various sectors that demand equality with men’s position. Feminism seeks to break down the patriarchal culture which is deeply rooted in Indonesia. This view even existed long before Raden Ayu Dewi Nawangsih was born as the daughter of a Sunan. This study aims to analyse the values of feminism in the oral tradition of Raden Ayu Dewi Nawangsih, which developed in the Kudus community. The methodological approach used is descriptive qualitative, using literature and field studies. At the same time, the theoretical approach used is the Levis-Strauss structural analysis. The research data is in the form of myths that contain feminist values. The method used in this research is the proficient method, literature study, and documentation. At the same time, the data analysis method consists of four stages: data transcription, data reduction (using Levi-Strauss structural theory), data interpretation, and conclusions. Based on the results of the analysis, two types of feminist values were found in the character Raden Ayu Dewi Nawangsih: personal power and freedom to choose a partner. This significant finding can be used to interpret feminism values via ethno-mythology perspective combining with structuralism approach. This interdisciplinary study would be essential to see the feminism values from oral tradition which is commonly categorized as a literary product.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate politeness in presidential candidate debates from the Interactional Sociolinguistics (IS) perspective. The approach was taken because there was a lack of studies that connected politeness with IS, considering that IS is great for examining social phenomena, especially sensitive conversations between high-status people. To acquire a clear insight into the phenomenon, this study uses discourse analysis on video transcripts of “The Third Debate of Presidential Candidates for the 2024 Election,” taken from the KPU RI YouTube channel. The analysis process drew on existing research to support the interpretation. The researcher analyses 170 data (clustered into 117 data of positive face and 53 data of negative face), including the frequencies and categories from the face-saving acts (FSA) and face-threatening acts (FTA). The identified aspects of Face-threatening Acts (FTAs) are criticism, threat, interruption, critical disagreement, dismission or ignorance, and demanding a satisfying response. Face-saving Acts (FSAs) identified aspects are providing equal opportunity, clarifying and apologizing, requesting cooperation, agreement while giving criticism, and providing equal opportunity. Fascinatingly, this study found that face-threatening acts sometimes necessary to use and impolite acts are acceptable if the speaker had “roles” in the conversation. Additionally, this study discovered that it is possible to measure the significance level of politeness, which will be extremely helpful for future research.
