Abstract

The research aims to know the effect of using Edmodo for online learning on students’ critical reading, focusing on narrative text, especially characteristics, theme, and moral message. The writer applied the experimental method with one group pretest-posttest design and collected the data based on the test. The population used is English Department students at the Muhammadiyah University of Makassar, totaling 90 people. The research sample was from the fourth semester of Unismuh, consisting of 23 students with a purposive sampling technique. A Data analysis technique was used, descriptive statistics and t-test, and the processing results showed that the data were normally distributed. The research findings showed that the 4th-semester students of Muhammadiyah University Makassar had poor scores in a pre-test. After treatment, their reading ability in the narrative text increases significantly. The result of the research was that the mean score of reading narrative text in terms of identifying characteristics obtained by the students through the pre-test was 76, and the post-test was 87. The mean score for reading narrative text identifying themes obtained by the students through the pre-test was 75, and the post-test was 86. The mean score for reading narrative text identifying moral messages received by the students through the pre-test was 74, and the post-test was 86. Reading narrative text in terms of identifying characteristics improved by 16.2%, theme improved by 15%, and moral message improved by 14.4%. Hypothesis testing could be done using a t-test. So, the calculated value pre-test was 75.34 and, the post-test was 82.94, P was 0,001> 0,05; thus, it can be concluded that there was a significant effect of using Edmodo in improving students’ critical reading.

Abstract

This research aims to know the Students' integration of CALL and factors influence their integration of CALL in English Department of Muhammadiyah University of Makassar. This research was conducted in descriptive qualitative method. The data collected by interview. The sample of this research was students who already PPL (Teaching practice program) This research used Snowball Sampling because just only took 5 samples who speak well and understand about CALL  to be interviewed.The main findings of the study illustrated that most of students have positive attitudes towards using Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) in teaching learning process, the students enjoyable and had interesting teaching experience. using Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) enriches students' knowledge and information, (CALL), provides students with fresh and up-dated information, (CALL), plays an important role in developing students' academic skills

Abstract

The aim of this research was find out whether the use of Facebook Group as a medium effective to increase students’ ability in writing recount text of the second grade students of MTs Aisyiyah Sungguminasa. This research used Pre-Experimental Research. The subject of the research was the second grade students with the sample of this research was 25 students from class VIII C and it used Purposive Sampling Technique. The researcher gave recout text to measure the students writing recount text. All of the students were given pre-test before using Facebook Group as a medium and after they got the treatment, the researcher gave post test to the students. The result of this research showed that the writing recount text of the second grade students of MTs Aisyiyah Sungguminasa, before taught by using Facebook Group was poor categorized. The mean score of pre-test was 61,04 and mean score of post-test was 85,48. It means that the mean score of post-test was greater than the mean score of pre-test. Then the improvement of the students’ writing ability was 40%. Then the calculating the t-test value for recount text was 12,87 and t-table for recount text was 2.064. it mean that the t-test was greater than t-table. The alternative hypothesis (H1) was accepted and the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected. Based on the research findings, it could be conclude, that applying Facebook Group as a medium had significant to increase students’ ability at the second grade of MTs Aisyiyah Sungguminasa.

Abstract

The purposes of this research are: (1) To know students’ perception toward the use of video-recorded speaking assignment in speaking subject. (2) To find out students’ challenges the use of video-recorded speaking assignment in speaking subject. This research is categorized as quantitative research with took two period of time for the data collection by using questionnaire. The total sample are 46 students used by Purposive Sampling technique. The result of analyze of questionnaire consist of two indicators. Based on the result of this research showed that in table 4.1 the mean 3.29 with Std .49 in level very high (strongly positive), in table 4.2 the mean 2.5 with Std .79 in level Low (Negative). And for the students’ challenges showed that the highest percentage in adequate gadget quality factor with 52,2% or 24 students followed by preparation in conducting material factor with 41,3% or 19 students, and video size to upload factor with 39,1% or 18 students, and the lowest percentage is insufficient knowledge in editing video with 4,3% or 2 students. As a result, the students’ Perception toward the use of video-recorded speaking assignment at Sixth Semester English Education Department of Muhammadiyah University of Makassar categorized was Positive/strongly agree and the dominant challenges factor was inadequate gadget quality

Abstract

The main objective of this research was to find out the students’ difficulties in speaking at SMP PGRI Barembeng and the students’ strategies in overcoming their difficulties in writing narrative text This research used descriptive quantitative method. The participants of this research were the students’ at SMP PGRI Barembeng. The sample of this research were 44 students taken by purposive sampling technique. The researcher used the writing test as the instrument of this research. Based on the research findings, there were two students’ difficulties those were; lack of vocabulary, lack of confidence and lack of grammar. The researcher also found 23 students’ strategies in overcoming writing difficulties at SMP PGRI Barembeng, those were; memory strategy, cognitive strategy, affective strategy and social strategy.

Abstract

This research discusses the comparison of Problem Based Learning (PBL) and Project Based Learning (PJBL) learning models on motivation and descriptive writing skills in class V students of Gugus II, Mamajang District, Makassar City. This research aims to analyze the differences in motivation and writing skills taught using the PBL and PJBL models. The type of research used is quantitative experimental research Posttest-Only Control Design. The population in this study were all class V students of Gugus II, Mamajang District, totaling 6 schools with a total number of students of 272. The research sample was class V students of UPT SPF SD Negeri Labuang Baji II, totaling 45 people who were selected using random sampling techniques, which comes from 2 classes, namely VA using PBL and VB using PJBL. Data collection techniques are questionnaire techniques to determine learning motivation and tests to determine students' writing skills. The research results based on descriptive analysis showed that the average value of the PBL learning motivation questionnaire was 87.79 while PJBL was 81.42. on PBL description writing skills is 94.26 while PJBL is 81.23. This means that the average value of PBL motivation and writing skills is higher than PJBL. The results of the inferential analysis show that the PBL learning model has a more significant effect compared to the PJBL learning model on the motivation and descriptive writing skills of class V UPT SPF students at SD Negeri Labuang Baji II. This is based on the MANOVA test results obtained, namely the sig value. 0.01 < 0.05.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the implementation of the team games tournament learning model on the cognitive learning outcomes of fifth grade students of SDN Mangkura IV. This type of research is classroom action research with a pretest-posttest one group design. The population in this study was all fifth grade students of SDN Mangkura IV. The sample of this study was selected using a simple random sampling technique. The data collection technique used was an observation sheet and a multiple-choice test of 20 questions. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics using SPSS. The results of the statistical test in cycle I showed the average post-test score in grade V in the subject of Social Sciences was 55.00. The minimum completion criteria obtained by students with a percentage of 26% in the completion criteria and 74% in the incomplete criteria. Then the results of the student learning test in cycle II obtained an average of 78.19%. The minimum completion criteria in cycle II obtained 81.5% in the complete category and 18.5% in the incomplete category. In cycle I to cycle II there was a significant increase. The conclusion of this study is that the application of the team games tournament model is effective in improving the cognitive learning outcomes of class V students at SDN Mangkura IV.

Abstract

Efektivitas Penggunaan Model Anticipation Guide terhadap Hasil Belajar Bahasa Indonesia pada Kemampuan Membaca Pemahaman Siswa Kelas IV UPT SPF SDI Bangkala II. Skripsi. Jurusan Pendidikan Guru Sekolah Dasar, Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan, Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar. Dibimbing oleh Sulfasyah dan Muhammad Agus. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas penggunaan model Anticipation Guide terhadap hasil belajar bahasa Indonesia pada kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa kelas IV UPT SPF SDI Bangkala II. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif dengan desain one group pretest-posttest. Sampel dalam penellitian in adalah 30 siswa kelas IV UPT SPF SDI Bangkala II. Instrumen penellitian yang digunakan berupa tes membaca pemahaman sebelum dan sesudah penggunaan model Anticipation Guide. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa model Anticipation Guide efektif dalam pembelajaran bahasa Indonesia pada kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa. Berdasarkan hasil nilai rata-rata posttes siswa mencapai 80,16, sedangkan nilai rata-rata pretest hanya mencapai 43,83. Analisis statistik menggunakan uji-t menunjukkan bahwa nilai Thitung = 19,437 lebih besar dari Ttabel = 2,045 (19,437 > 2,045), sehingga H0 ditolak dan H1 diterima. Hal ini membuktikan bahwa model pembelajarn Anticipation Guide dalam proses pembelajaran efektif terhadap kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa kelas IV UPT SPF SDI Bangkala II Kota Makassar.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the innovative attitude of teachers at the cluster of SD Inpres Tala-Tala, Kecamatan Bisssappu, Kabupaten Bantaeng. This research was an Ex Post Facto research. The population in this study was teachers at the cluster of SD Inpress Tala- Tala, Kecamatan Bissappu, Kabupaten Bantaeng, which consisted of eight elementary schools. The study was a descriptive correlational method. The population and sample of this study consisted of 64 teachers who were selected by using saturated sample because the population was less than 100 people. The data were collected by administering using a questionnaire on the teacher's innovative attitudes. Then, the data were analyzed by using descriptive techniques. The results of the study showed that the maximum value of innovative attitudes was a 110 while the minimum value was 80. Then, the average value was 98.3125 and the standard deviation was 5.77591. Based on the results of the innovative attitude interval, 8% of respondents in low category gave a score between 80-90; 30% of the respondents in the medium category gave a score between 91-100, while in the high category, 26% of respondents scored between 101-110.

Abstract

This study aimed to describe the implementation of the School Literacy Movement (SLM) program to increase students’ reading motivation at elementary schools in cluster 1 of Kecamatan Tanete Riattang Barat, Kabupaten Bone. This study also aimed to reveal supporting and inhibiting factors in implementing the SLM as well as the strategies developed by schools to overcome these inhibiting factors. This qualitative descriptive study utilized observations, interviews, and documentation to collect the data. The instruments of this study were observation sheets and interview guidelines. The subjects of this study were 15 respondents consisting of the principal, teachers, and grade VI and III students. The results showed that the school implemented the SLM program through habituation, development, and classroom learning activities. This program included the provision of facilities and infrastructure such as libraries, reading corners, reading gardens, wall magazines, posters, and slogans. In addition, the SLM program was supported by the school committee, extra-curricular activities, and the allocation of school funding. Meanwhile, the inhibiting factors included students’ lack of understanding about the implementation of the SLM, the imbalance between library capacity and the number of students, insufficient book collections, and limited time available for reading activities. Thus, strategies to overcome these factors were providing students with an understanding of the SLM, expanding the reading garden, updating the library book collection, and maximizing the use of must-read hours.
