Abstract

This research highlights the paradox of pluralism in Indonesia, where Penghayat Kepercayaan (indigenous faith practitioners) frequently employ defensive communication strategies despite having constitutional guarantees. This study aims to analyze the phenomenon of 'Silent Communication' within the Paguyuban Budaya Bangsa (PBB) community in Kebumen as a mechanism for identity negotiation amidst a Muslim-majority society. Utilizing a qualitative collective case study approach framed by Co-Cultural Theory and Impression Management, this research dissects how minority groups construct communication boundaries. The findings demonstrate that this community adopts 'Pseudo-Administrative Affiliation' and 'Digital Silence' as primary survival strategies. Furthermore, the study identifies an internal 'Spiral of Silence' within the organization that obstructs leadership regeneration and reveals that the younger generation continues to practice self-censorship in digital spaces despite achieving legal recognition. This research concludes that minority silence is not merely a cultural trait but a structural response to social insecurity, necessitating an ethical shift from the majority group to foster inclusive dialogue. Moreover, the Muslim community—theologically anchored by the principles of la ikraha fiddin (no compulsion in religion), qaulan layyinan (gentle speech), and haqqul jawar (the rights of neighbors)—is challenged to actualize these values in daily practice, spanning administrative policies, social interactions, and digital media ethics.

Abstract

Kebijakan transformatif pendidikan tinggi Indonesia melalui model Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) menjadi sebuah tantangan tersendiri bagi sistem pendidikan yang selama ini telah mapan, termasuk salah satunya adalah rumpun ilmu komunikasi. Riset ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana persepsi pengelola program studi dalam rumpun ilmu komunikasi tentang kebijakan tersebut.  Riset yang dilakukan pada akhir tahun 2022 dengan pendekatan survei, terhadap 122 pengelola program studi dari perguruan tinggi negeri dan swasta se-Indonesia. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan : 1)  81,9 % pengelola program studi meyakini program ini membantu mahasiswanya siap untuk untuk berdaya saing setelah lulus; 2) 86,9 % program studi telah memfasilitasi hak mahasiswa untuk belajar di luar kampus dengan model MBKM; 3) Terdapat dinamika persepsi pada pengelola program studi, khususnya terkait dengan konversi kredit mata kuliah dalam konteks capaian pembelajaran.    Untuk peningkatan implementasi MBKM, ke depan diperlukan penguatan kerjasama dengan dunia usaha dan industri yang difasilitasi asosiasi program studi dan kesepakatan prosedur operasional baku dalam mekanisme konversi.

Abstract

Penelitian ini mengkaji pemberitaan Detik.com mengenai dugaan kekerasan seksual seorang guru besar di Universitas Jenderal Soedirman (Unsoed) melalui kerangka Analisis Wacana Kritis model Norman Fairclough. Data terdiri dari tiga artikel Detik: laporan awal tuduhan (“Heboh Guru Besar Unsoed Diduga Lakukan Kekerasan Seksual ke Mahasiswi”), respons rektorat (“Kata Rektorat soal Dugaan Kekerasan Seksual Guru Besar Unsoed ke Mahasiswi”), dan reaksi kampus terhadap kabar tersebut (“Saat Unsoed Diguncang Kabar Mahasiswi Jadi Korban Kekerasan Seksual Guru Besar”) (Detik.com, 24 Juli 2025). Melalui analisis tekstual, praktik wacana, dan praktik sosial-budaya, penelitian menemukan bahwa media menegaskan kontras kuasa antara pelaku akademik (“guru besar”) dan korban mahasiswa (“mahasiswi”), menggunakan modalitas kehati-hatian seperti “diduga” untuk menjaga kewaspadaan hukum sekaligus menyoroti urgensi publik. Pemberitaan memberi ruang legitimasi kepada berbagai aktor seperti mahasiswa, rektorat, dan Satgas PPKS yang menciptakan arena tuntutan moral dan institusional. Secara sosiokultural, wacana ini mencerminkan ideologi keadilan gender, akuntabilitas kampus, dan perlindungan korban, sekaligus menuntut transparansi prosedural dari institusi pendidikan tinggi. Media dalam kasus ini berfungsi tidak hanya sebagai pelapor peristiwa, tetapi juga sebagai agen moral yang mendorong transformasi budaya akademik dan struktur kuasa. Temuan penelitian menegaskan pentingnya mekanisme penanganan kekerasan seksual yang lebih kredibel dan sensitif gender serta peran media sebagai pendorong akuntabilitas institusi.

Abstract

The advancement of digital communication technology has significantly transformed public relations practices, particularly within higher educations institutions. This study aims to explore how digital media optimized in managing public relations at UIN Raden Mas Said Surakarta. Using a gualitative descriotive approach within the constructivist paradigm, data were collected through in depth interviews with the head and staff of the Public Relations Division, as well as documentation of digital communication activities. The findings show that Uin Raden Mas Said Surakarta has implemented an integrated Digital Public Relations strategy tha combines informative, persuasive and educational content across social media platforms. This digital approach effectively strenghens institusional image, build public engagement and enchaces brand awareness. However, the study also indentifies challenges related to limited human resources and the sustainability of content management. Overall, the optimization of digital media in public relations contributes to improving institutional credibility and supports the realization of transparent, interactive and sustainable public communication.

Abstract

Indonesian National Student Mobility or Program Pertukaran Mahasiswa Merdeka (PMM) is one of the initiatives of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology in order to improve the academic quality and diversity of students throughout Indonesia through an inter-island student exchange mechanism, either of the same type or across fields of science. Communication Studies Program at Jenderal Soedirman University (Unsoed) located in Purwokerto - Central Java, is one of those that has been mandated to receive and facilitate the program from 2022 to 2024. This research aims to identify the level of students satisfaction with the quality of academic services provided by the study program as a part of the projected reputation.  Using a descriptive approach with the SERVQUAL method on 41 respondents (PMM students), the research shows: 1) 92.5% of respondents are satisfied with choosing the Communication Studies Program at Unsoed as a destination for the national student exchange program; 2) The level of satisfaction of PMM students with the academic services provided is quite good as evidenced by the difference score between performance and expectations in the range of -0.23 to -0.06 in the aspects of reliability, assurance, responsiveness, empathy and physical evidence; 3) Expectations for learning facilities and infrastructure are the highest expectations expected by students from outside the island regarding the quality of academic facilities at the destination campus. A university's reputation is enhanced by positive student experiences, which use social media narratives rather than paid publicity to create powerful public relations.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis bagaimana strategi media relations dapat mendukung peningkatan kinerja Webometrics sebagai instrumen reputasi digital Universitas Jenderal Soedirman (UNSOED). Berangkat dari teori Relationship Management Ledingham & Bruning, penelitian ini menelaah kualitas hubungan UNSOED dengan media, dinamika pengelolaan konten digital, serta kontribusinya terhadap indikator Webometrics yang meliputi Visibility, Excellence, dan Openness. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif melalui wawancara mendalam, Focus Group Discussion (FGD), observasi website, serta analisis dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa strategi media relations UNSOED telah berjalan, namun belum terintegrasi secara sistemik dengan kebutuhan peningkatan backlink, eksposur tridharma, dan kolaborasi jangka panjang dengan media nasional. Fragmentasi informasi antarunit, keterbatasan SDM teknis, serta minimnya strategi konten berbasis riset menjadi faktor utama stagnasi indikator Visibility yang memiliki bobot terbesar (50%) dalam Webometrics. Temuan penelitian menegaskan pentingnya model integratif media relations berbasis Webometrics yang memadukan koordinasi kelembagaan, optimalisasi konten tridharma, penguatan jejaring media, serta peningkatan kapasitas teknis kehumasan.
