Abstract

In the realm of Islamic science, al-Jabiri's significant perspective on epistemology, outlined in "an-nidham al-ma'rifi," encompasses Bayani, Irfani, and Burhani dimensions. According to al-Jabiri, Burhani is seen as a solution to revitalize the progress of Islamic world civilization, and it is closely tied to the systematic development of Islamic education. This research, using a literature-based approach, aims to examine how the Burhani epistemological framework contributes to shaping Islamic education. Then, the conclusion can be drawn that the Burhani epistemological order can construct the science of Islamic education as an essential instrument in improving the quality of Islamic education with the process of developing critical and logical thinking skills, can understand the relationship between science and religion, and develop an attitude of tolerance and respect for differences of opinion with the use of rational and logical reasoning. To realize these outcomes, educators must possess a deep understanding of and teaching skills aligned with Burhani epistemology, as well as the design of a dynamic, adaptive, and relevant Islamic education curriculum for the needs of society from generation to generation.

Abstract

The problem of Islamic education is an urgent problem that needs to be emphasized in analyzing educational failures. Therefore, ontology becomes a means of discussing how the essence of education is implemented. The aim of this research is to determine the paradigm of modern Islamic education from an ontological perspective. This research method uses library research. The result of this study is that Islamic education cannot be separated from the divine dimension (revelation). All components contained in the education system will be extracted from divine revelation. In addition to the birth of certain terms in Islamic education, it can also be seen from several discussions on educational issues that refer to divine texts.

Abstract

The displacement of Rohingya refugees remains a pressing humanitarian issue, particularly in Aceh, Indonesia, where initial expressions of solidarity have shifted towards growing resistance. This study examines the factors driving this shift and the role of ulama in mediating social tensions amid economic anxieties and digital misinformation. Using a qualitative approach, primary data were collected through fieldwork conducted in Aceh between November 2023 and March 2024, including in-depth interviews with ulama, community leaders, and government officials, as well as document analysis. The findings reveal that while Aceh’s cultural and religious traditions emphasize hospitality, economic instability, resource competition, and misinformation have fueled skepticism toward continued refugee acceptance. Ulama, traditionally influential in shaping public discourse, face increasing challenges from digital narratives that undermine their authority and disrupt established mechanisms for building tolerance. This study highlights the urgent need for structured refugee policies, stronger cross-sectoral collaboration, and digital engagement strategies for ulama to maintain their influence. Without strategic interventions, Aceh’s long-standing reputation for tolerance may deteriorate, underscoring the importance of adaptive governance in refugee management.

Abstract

Nashiruddin Ath-Thusi (1202-1274 M /597- 672 H) is better known as an astronomer than a philosopher, this is because he built an observatory Rasad Khanah in Maragha Azerbaijan, his work in philosophy was the endeavor and pioneer of the revival movement (revivalis), for trying to revive Ibn Sina's philosophical concept which had sunk due to the "thought" of Al-Ghazali in his criticism (Review/Cash) to Ibnu Sina's books which are more specific in the bookAl-Isyarat wa Al-Tanbihat.According to Ath-Thusi as well as the opinion of Ibn Sina states that the theory of knowledge is a concept (tasawwur) or evaluation (tashdiq); the concept itself can be obtained through definitions and can also be obtained through syllogisms. Both definitions and syllogisms are two media to achieve knowledge. Conceptually in philosophical thought, neo-Platonic teachings, Ibn Sina, Suhrawardi, and Aristotle seem to greatly color the philosophical thought of ath-Thusi. From various aspects of the study, Ath-Thusi's philosophical thoughts are more reflected in ethical issues, household ethics, and political ethics. While the axiology of the philosophy of science, according to Nasiruddin Ath-Thusi, science is more about aspects and fields that are needed at this time, and provide benefits and bring good values later in the hereafter, and epistemologically must be sourced from Kitabullah.

Abstract

This study analyzes the relevance of Paulo Freire's thoughts on critical education in the context of political transformation in Indonesia. Paulo Freire emphasizes the importance of dialogue, critical consciousness, and praxis as the main foundations in the process of human emancipation. In Freire's view, education serves not only as a transfer of knowledge, but also as a means of liberation to form a conscious, critical, and social-politically active subject. Indonesia as a developing democracy faces various political challenges, such as social polarization, low political literacy, and inequality of access and participation of citizens in the democratic process. This study uses a qualitative approach by analyzing secondary data in the form of books, scientific journals, and articles related to critical education and political dynamics in Indonesia. The analysis is focused on the potential application of Freire's thinking in answering the challenge of democracy. The results show that Freire-style critical education is relevant to encourage more inclusive, reflective, and democratic political participation. Critical education is able to equip citizens with critical thinking skills, awareness of political rights and obligations, and encourage active involvement in democratic life. Therefore, this study recommends the integration of Freire's critical education principles into the national education curriculum in order to strengthen the quality of democracy and encourage a more just and sustainable political transformation.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the theory of the Law of Three Stages of intellectual development proposed by Auguste Comte namely the theological, metaphysical, and positive stages from the perspective of the philosophy of education, as well as its relevance to the development of Islamic Religious Education (PAI). The research employs a qualitative method with a library research approach. Data analysis techniques include content analysis and philosophical analysis of primary and secondary sources to produce a comprehensive understanding of the integration between scientific rationality and the spiritual dimension. The results of the study indicate that although Comte’s positivism contributes significantly to scientific methodology and the use of rationality and empiricism in modern education, this paradigm tends to reduce the spiritual and moral dimensions by viewing the theological stage as a phase that must be abandoned. In contrast, the perspective of Islamic education offers an integrative epistemology, in which knowledge is derived simultaneously from revelation, reason, and empirical experience.
