Abstract

Bioinsecticides have the potential to affect arthropod populations in lowland rice ecosystems. The purpose of this study are 1) Knowing the effect of Beauveria bassiana, Metarhizium anisopliae and Verticillium lecanii on population and diversity of arthropods and 2) Knowing the effectiveness of giving 0.5 gram / 1.4 liter of water and 1 gram / 1.4 liter of water to each bioinsecticide on Arthropod population and diversity was carried out in Turikale District, February 2019 until April 2019. This study used a 2 factorial randomized block design. The first factor is the type of bioinsecticide and the second factor is the bioinsecticide dose of data analysis using Anova in the STAR 2.0.1 2013 program to see the average number of arthropod populations in each treatment. The results of the study showed that 1) The administration of Beauveria bassiana, Metarhizium anisopliae and Verticillium lecanii affected the population but did not affect the diversity of arthropods. 2) Each dose of 0.5 gram / 1.4 liter of water and 1 gram / 1.4 liter of water in each bioinsecticide effectively suppresses the arthropod population of the herbivorous group. Which means the use of bioinsecticides on diversity and arthropod populations in rice plants is feasible to be developed.

Abstract

Spodoptera frugiperda is an important pest on maize. The purpose of this research were to determine the pathogenicity of Beauveria bassiana and Metharizium sp in Fall armyworm (S. frugiperda) larvae, to determine the effective concentrations of B. bassiana and Metarhizium sp. to control  Fall armyworm (S. frugiperda), and to determine the time span of B. bassiana and Metarhizium sp infection which is effective for controlling Fall armyworm (S. frugiperda). This research was conducted at the Pesticide and Natural Materials Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Muslim Indonesia, Makassar, UPTD Balai Proteksi of South Sulawesi and Corn Planting in Galung Village, Barru District. Barru Regency. The research start on April to October 2020. The research used a Fully Randomized Design (FRD) with 2 factors and three repetition. The first factor was the type of fungus (Metarhizium sp and B. bassiana) and the second factor was the density of conidia (10⁶, 10⁷, 10⁸ and 10⁹ conidia/ml). The results showed that the type of fungus and the density of conidia were significantly different for all observed variables. The pathogenicity of the fungus B. bassiana was better than Metarhizium sp and the density of conidia (concentrations) of both B. bassiana and Metarhizium sp. were significantly different from those of S. frugiperda larvae, but the density of conidia (concentration) 10⁹ was faster infected and killed S. frugiperda larvae. The Symptoms of entomopathogenic fungus attack on S. frugiperda larvae are sluggish movement, turning pale in color, decreased appetite, gradually silence, and death. The dead larvae are hardened and slightly blackened.

Abstract

Corn (Zea mays L.) is a strategic commodity in Indonesia after rice because corn is not only used as food but also as animal feed. This corn commodity is generally stored in the form of shelled seeds. One of the obstacles in the storage process is the presence of warehouse pests. Warehouse pests are plant-destroying organisms that work when plants are stored in storage rooms or warehouses. This study aims to determine the diversity, abundance and dominance of corn pests in sacks and scattered and determine the weight loss and damage to corn kernels in several warehouses. Determination of the number of samples used in this study was by using descriptive survey methods and qualitative data in several warehouses, then the samples were reared for 30-35 days (± a month). Sampling was carried out 8 times with an interval of 2 times a week. The results of the research showed that the diversity of pests was obtained, namely Tribolium castaneum Herbst (Coleoptera: Tenebrionidae), Rhizopert dominica Fabricius (Coleoptera: Bostrichidae), Sitophilus sp Linnaeus (Coleoptera: Curculionidae), Alphitobius diaperinus Panzer (Coleoptera: Tenebrionidae), Carpteraphilus di (Coleoptera: Midia : Nitidulidae), Cryptolestes ferrugineus Stephens (Coleoptera: Cucujidae), Corcyra cephalonica Stantion (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae), Lasioderma serricorne Fabricius (Coleoptera: Anobiidae), Palorus depressus Fabricius (Coleoptera: Tenebrionidae). The highest abundance and dominance was in the pests Sitophilus sp. Linnaeus (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) and Tribolium castaneum Herbst (Coleoptera: Tenebrionidae). The highest percentage of weight loss and damage to corn kernels was found in warehouse A, while the lowest weight loss and damage to corn kernels was in warehouse C.

Abstract

The aim of the study was to determine the concentration and timing of giving of biduri leaves extract which could suppress the development of golden snail pests on paddy rice plants in rice fields. The study used a randomized block design (RBD) and treatment with two factors, namely the concentration of Calotropis gigantea fresh extract 50 %, 60 %, 70 %, 80 % and the time of giving of biduri leaves extract in (the morning at 06.00 am, the daylight at 12.00 am, the afternoon at 16.00 pm, the evening at 19.00 pm). Each treatment unit was placed in a rice planting tank (50 cm x 50 cm) which contained 12 clumps of rice plants and was given 10 gold snails. The results showed that the concentration of biduri leaves extract had a significant effect on mortality and suppressed the development of golden snail pests. The best concentration of the fresh extract of Calotropis gigantean was 80% and was given at 19.00 the light attack intensity category was 29.30%. Giving a concentration of 70% fresh extract of Calotropis gigantean with a time of giving at 19.00 in the evening gave better results in suppressing the development of golden snails in rice plants. The use of biduri leaves extract was effective in exterminating golden snails and was environmentally friendly.

Abstract

The socialization targets involved in this activity were students who are members of the Himpunan Mahasiswa Manajemen Universitas Negeri Makassar (UNM). The participants took part in educational and outreach activities related to financial literacy in the community. The purpose of this activity was to provide knowledge and insight to the Himpunan Mahasiswa Manajemen Universitas Negeri Makassar (UNM) so that participants gain knowledge and insight regarding financial literacy. In addition, the participants also participated in the dialogue process carried out by the service team. There were 45 students who attended on January 13-14 2023 at the BT Building, UNM Faculty of Economics. The method used in this outreach activity is an analysis of partner needs, socialization of financial literacy, and the discussion and evaluation stages.

Abstract

Sektor pertanian merupakan salah satu penopang dalam struktur pembangunan ekonomi nasional di Indonesia. Sektor ini memiliki potensi besar dan berperan penting dalam menyediakan lapangan kerja, menyumbang devisa negara, serta menyumbang PDB. Pertumbuhan PDB sektor pertanian di triwulan III tahun 2022 mencapai 1,65%, dengan kontribusi PDB sektor pertanian sebesar 12,91 persen. Masyarakat pedesaan di Indonesia sangat bergantung pada pertanian sebagai sumber pendapatan, baik dari pertanian on farm maupun off farm. Kegiatan pertanian on farm dan off farm mendorong petani untuk lebih berdaya dengan memberikan nilai tambah melalui pengolahan produk dan pengembangan usaha berbasis pertanian. Diversifikasi pendapatan dilakukan dalam pertanian untuk meningkatkan ketahanan ekonomi petani dan mengurangi risiko produksi. Namun, pengembangan pertanian ini perlu didukung oleh pendampingan yang berkelanjutan dari pemerintah, lembaga pendidikan, dan pemangku kepentingan terkait. Oleh karena itu, tim pengabdi melakukan kegiatan pengabdian di Pelatihan Pertanian dan Pedesaan Swadaya (P4S), Bulubalea, Sulawesi Selatan, dengan tahapan perencanaan, pelaksanaan, dan evaluasi. Kegiatan ini melibatkan sosialisasi bimbingan teknis tanaman buah kepada petani, dengan memberikan bibit serta penyuluhan teknologi pertanian. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan peningkatan pengetahuan peserta dan respons positif terhadap kegiatan pengabdian ini.

Abstract

Infeksi virus dapat menyebabkan gejala yang bervariasi pada tanaman. Penilaian tingkat keparahan gejala virus tanaman di lapangan umumnya menggunakan metode konvensional berbasis pengamatan visual. Seiring dengan perkembangan teknologi digital saat ini, telah dikembangkan pula metode penilaian terkini berbasis analisis citra digital. Namun informasi terkait kepresisian dan keakurasian kedua metode penilaian tersebut masih sangat terbatas khususnya penilaian keparahan gejala yang disebabkan oleh virus. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi hasil penilaian keparahan penyakit berdasarkan metode konvensional dan analisis citra digital berbasis NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) serta membandingkan akurasi kedua metode penilaian tersebut dalam mengestimasi variabel produksi tanaman. Survei lapangan dilakukan dengan melakukan perekaman citra dan pengamatan secara visual terhadap gejala serangan virus pada tajuk tanaman cabai. Dilanjutkan dengan pengukuran bobot buah sampel tanaman, dan analisis citra digital tanaman. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penilaian keparahan gejala virus menggunakan metode analisis citra digital berbasis indeks vegetasi NDVI lebih presisi (standar deviasi < 0,04) dibandingkan metode pengamatan visual (standar deviasi > 4,00), khususnya pada fase generatif. Selain itu, metode indeks vegetasi NDVI juga lebih akurat dalam mengestimasi bobot buah cabai karena koefisien regresi bertanda positif dengan nilai R2 > 0,90.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to evaluate the impact of training and development programs on improving cocoa cultivation practices among farmers in Sidrap District, South Sulawesi, and to assess their knowledge and skills in disease control, productivity technology, and market strategies. This is a community-based intervention study using a mixed-methods approach, combining both qualitative and quantitative assessments to measure the impact of the training program. The study was conducted in the Betao Riawa Mampise farmer group in Sidrap District, South Sulawesi, from August 2024 to November 2024. The study involved 22 cocoa farmers from the Betao Riawa Mampise group. The participants were provided with extension sessions covering cocoa disease management, eco-friendly farming practices, and the use of technology for increased productivity. In addition, a digital marketing workshop was held to train farmers on utilizing platforms like Facebook and Tokopedia to sell cocoa products. Pre- and post-training assessments were conducted to measure improvements in knowledge and skills. A survey was also administered to evaluate the overall impact of the program. The training program effectively improved the farmers' knowledge of cocoa disease management, eco-friendly farming practices, and digital marketing strategies. This non-invasive approach could significantly enhance cocoa production and marketing, offering a sustainable way to increase income for cocoa farmers in Sidrap District. However, further support in technology access is necessary to ensure that all farmers benefit equally.

Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the effective concentration of Trichoderma sp. against Phytophora palmivora. This study was conducted in the disease laboratory, Department of Pests and Plant Diseases, Faculty of Agriculture, Hasanuddin University. This study was carried out from March to August 2024. The method used in this study was the Detached pod test method, namely looking at cocoa fruit that had been infected with Phytopthora palmivora fungus consisting of five treatment levels T0 (Control), T1 (giving concentration 105), T2 (giving concentration 106), T3 (giving concentration 107), T4 (giving concentration 108). The parameters observed were the area of Phytopthora palmivora fungal spots on the surface of cocoa fruit and identification of the results of cocoa fruit isolation. The results showed that the treatment with a concentration of 106 had an average area of spots with a value of 8.73 mm2, which was the lowest value compared to other treatments. Treatment with a concentration of 106 showed effective control in inhibiting the growth of Phytophora palmivora and can be considered as an alternative in disease control strategies.

Abstract

Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk memberikan penyuluhan dan pelatihan tentang ilmu pertanian dan pemasaran. Sasaran peserta dari kegiatan ini adalah petani cokelat di Kabupaten Sidrap. Secara umum, peserta dapat diharapkan untuk sangat antusias mengikuti pemberian materi yang ditunjukkan dari ketekunan dan kedisiplinan dalam mengikuti setiap tahapan dalam kegiatan. Setiap peserta diharapkan mampu untuk meningkatkan produksi dan kualitas cokelat lokal serta meningkatkan pendapatan dan kesejahteraan petani kakao di daerah tersebut. Melalui kegiatan ini setiap peserta merasakan manfaat dari kegiatan in dan mengharapkan kegiatan seperti ini dapat diberikan secara rutin dan juga membawa khazanah baru bagi pengetahuan dan keterampilan mereka sehingga akan membantu mengembangkan potensi pertanian kakao di daerah Sidrap, dan memberikan kontribusi positif terhadap perekonomian daerah serta mengurangi kemiskinan di daerah tersebut.
