Abstract

Perkembangan teknologi cloud computing telah membawa perubahan signifikan pada pengelolaan layanan perpustakaan digital di perguruan tinggi. Universitas Negeri Medan merupakan salah satu institusi yang mengadopsi sistem perpustakaan berbasis cloud untuk meningkatkan efisiensi, fleksibilitas, serta keamanan akses informasi akademik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis strategi keamanan data yang diterapkan dalam perpustakaan digital berbasis cloud computing, dengan fokus pada penerapan prinsip kerahasiaan, integritas, dan ketersediaan CIA Triad. Metode penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi dengan pengelola perpustakaan digital serta pihak terkait. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa strategi keamanan mencakup penerapan enkripsi ganda pada data in-transit maupun at-rest, autentikasi ganda, pengendalian akses berbasis peran, audit trail, serta sistem deteksi intrusi yang diperkuat dengan pencadangan otomatis. Dari sisi operasional, keamanan sistem diperkuat melalui pembaruan firewall secara berkala untuk meminimalkan risiko serangan siber dan menjaga keberlangsungan layanan akademik. Hambatan utama yang dihadapi adalah keterbatasan sumber daya manusia dengan keahlian keamanan siber serta rendahnya kesadaran pengguna dalam menjaga keamanan digital. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa integrasi teknologi, kebijakan kelembagaan, dan peningkatan literasi digital merupakan faktor penting dalam mewujudkan perpustakaan digital yang aman, andal, terpercaya, serta berkelanjutan di Universitas Negeri Medan, sekaligus dapat menjadi model strategis bagi perguruan tinggi lain.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi keterpakaian koleksi di Dinas Perpustakaan dan Arsip Daerah Kota Tebing Tinggi. Evaluasi keterpakaian koleksi penting untuk dilakukan karena dapat digunakan untuk mengetahui pemanfaatan koleksi di perpustakaan, kegiatan evaluasi terhadap bahan pustaka perlu dilakukan agar dapat mencapai tujuan tersebut. Penelitian ini menggunakan jenis penelitian kuantitatif yang berupaya memberikan deskripsi tentang keterpakaian koleksi pustaka di Dinas Perpustakaan dan Arsip Daerah Kota Tebing Tinggi. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode evaluasi koleksi berdasarkan penggunaan (use-centered). Untuk memperoleh data peniliti menggunakan metode dokumentasi. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diketahui bahwa keterpakaian koleksi di Dinas Perpustakaan dan Arsip Daerah Kota Tebing Tinggi masih rendah, dengan rata-rata peminjaman bulanan yang tidak sebanding dengan jumlah koleksi yang ada. Penyebab utama rendahnya keterpakaian koleksi adalah kurangnya koleksi yang sesuai dengan kebutuhan informasi pengguna dan promosi pelayanan perpustakaan yang belum optimal.Kata kunci:  Evaluasi Koleksi, Keterpakaian, Analisis Koleksi, Perpustakaan Daerah, Tebing Tinggi

Abstract

This study aims to explore students' experiences in using the Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC) at the Medan Tourism Polytechnic Library using the Think-Aloud Protocol (TAP) method. A total of 15 students who had used the OPAC at least twice were purposively selected as respondents. Data were collected through observations of collection search tasks and semi-structured interviews, then analyzed using Reflexive Thematic Analysis (RTA) associated with ISO 9241-11 indicators and the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) framework. The results showed that 70% of students experienced difficulty using the advanced search feature, took an average of five minutes to find a book title, and 60% considered the OPAC interface less intuitive. The main obstacles included an interface that was less user-friendly, low digital literacy, and minimal socialization from librarians. These findings expand the theoretical understanding of the relationship between digital literacy and perceived ease of use in the context of vocational education, while also emphasizing the importance of a user-centered design (UCD) approach in OPAC development. This study recommends simplifying the interface, integrating OPAC training into student orientation programs, and strengthening the role of librarians in digital literacy support, so that OPAC can be optimally utilized to support academic activities.

Abstract

ETD (Electronic Thesis and Dissertation) is one of Padangsidimpuan State Islamic University's Syekh Ali Hasan Ahmad Addary Library's key services for end-user reading. The new service's user satisfaction is unclear.  ETD user acceptability at Padangsidimpuan's Syekh Ali Hasan Ahmad Addary Library needs analysis.  Analysis is needed to test user acceptance of ETD (Electronic Thesis and Dissertation) services at the Syekh Ali Hasan Ahmad Addary Library of Padangsidimpuan.The services taken in this study are ETD (Electronic Thesis and Dissertation) services and are located at the Library of Sheikh Ali Hasan Ahmad Addary State Islamic University Padangsidimpuan using the TAM (Technology Acceptance Model) approach, therefore the author's reason for knowing and analyzing how users receive and use ETD services at the Syekh Ali Hasan Ahmad Addary Padangsidimpuan State Islamic University Library. The method used in this study is quantitative research with data collection techniques, namely literature techniques, field research (research files), and distributing questionnaires. Researchers intend to use the TAM method to measure client happiness with ETD offerings. Participants are people who have used ETD services at UIN SYAHADA. The results of TAM X1-Y used to study the opinions of system users or respondents showed that on average 32.825% of respondents answered with Strongly Agree, while 55.7% answered with Agree.  Multiple regression analysis shows that variables related to information system interface design (X1), user attitudes toward information systems (X3), and user behavioral attitudes toward information systems (X4) all have a significant impact on users' actual situation (Y). The simplicity of the user interface (X2) has nothing to do with this. R2 = 0.352, so it seems pretty close. So, external factors account for a total of 35.2% of the variance in users' real-world ISS conditions. The remaining 64.8%, then, were influenced by factors not included in the model.

Abstract

The Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) serves as a key indicator of a library's quality and effectiveness. When it comes to OPAC's information retrieval capabilities, they can make it simpler and quicker to track out relevant data. However, in practice, OPACs and other retrieval systems frequently have problems or erroneous collections. Scientists are interested in OPAC usage because of this. Tthis study intends to gauge patron impressions of the Open Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) system in the Medan Area Library. 50 respondents from Medan Area University served as the study's sample of research participants. In this study, tests are conducted utilising validity tests, reliability testing, and descriptive data analysis. Descriptive quantitative research methodologies are also used. The results showed that the ease of use of the OPAC system had a positive impact on perceptions of the usefulness of the OPAC system and attitudes towards OPAC use.  This shows that if OPAC users feel that this system is easy to use, then bringing benefits to students will then affect acceptance of the OPAC system. Students will tend to continue to use the OPAC system to meet their needs effectively.  The user's attitude towards OPAC has a positive impact on the user's willingness to use OPAC.  In addition, the findings show that behavioral intention positively influences actual OPAC use.  The use of web-based OPAC is mandatory for Medan Area University students, so that it affects the actual use of the OPAC system, this is indicated by the frequency of visits to the Medan Area University library website.  It was concluded that the OPAC system was acceptable to Medan Area University library users.

Abstract

This article discusses the Great Mosque of Nur Addin which is a long proof of the existence of the Kingdom of Padang in the area which is currently included in the administration of Tebing Tinggi City and its surroundings. This article uses historical research methods with a qualitative approach. However, the main focus of this article is to see the architecture of the Great Mosque of Nur Addin as a manifestation of the spirit of the Tebing Tinggi Islamic community at that time. The Great Mosque of Nur Addin was founded in 1861 AD by the King of Padang named Tengku Haji Muhammad Nurdin who was also the founder of the City of Tebing Tinggi. This mosque was built very majestically and beautifully as evidence of the prosperity of the Kingdom of Padang. This mosque from the past until now is still the pride of the people of Tebing Tinggi and its surroundings. The construction of such a magnificent mosque cannot be separated from the profits obtained by the Padang Kingdom from the land concessions with foreign plantation entrepreneurs. In addition, the religious function of this mosque is still maintained. What's unique about this mosque is that, every month of Ramadan, the mosque management continues to provide meat porridge as an iftar dish, which is still a tradition that has been preserved to this day.

Abstract

A librarian teacher is a school teacher who has received education or training in the field of libraries for a minimum number of hours who is also assigned to the relevant school library. The position of a librarian teacher in a school library is something that cannot be avoided in the face of limited librarian staff, but it is also not a right that is taken seriously. This study aims to provide a deeper understanding of the strategy for developing school libraries managed by librarian teachers from the initial conditions that are not optimal to reaching a more efficient and effective level at the Library of SMA Negeri 5 Bagan Sinembah. The method used in this study is descriptive qualitative, with data collection techniques used in this study are interviews, observations and documentation. In the study, the strategy used by librarian teachers to improve the quality of school library development involves two main aspects: student involvement and collaboration of teaching staff, especially art and culture teachers who play a complementary role in making library facilities and infrastructure. With obstacles including limitations in library supervision due to dual responsibilities, its administration system which is still manual, and limited knowledge about digital-based library management.

Abstract

The use of e-journals includes user activities in utilizing journals as a means of obtaining the necessary information. Information in journals is scientific and up-to-date, covering various branches of science. Currently, journals have been provided in electronic versions that ca n be accessed in various ways, which in terms of access are divided into two categories, namely open access e-journals and closed access e-journals. In this study, researchers have the aim of analyzing the use of e-journals as a source of student learning, to what extent is the effectiveness, efficiency, and satisfaction of these electronic journals for students at Muhammadiyah University of North Sumatra with a measurement method utilizing the System Usability Scale (SUS).

Abstract

This research aims to measure the service quality of the North Sumatra Islamic State University Library UPT website by comparing the level of performance and level of interest (expectations) of users. The research method uses the webqual 4.0 method with three main variables: Usability, Information Quality, and Service Interaction Quality. The research sample involved 98 respondents with data collection using a questionnaire. Data analysis was carried out using descriptive statistical analysis and simple linear regression, with the help of SPSS Version 23 software. Hypothesis test results show that there is a positive and significant influence between performance variables and website importance, with tcount > ttable (4.998 > 0.16608) and level significance 0.000 (below 0.05). Therefore, the conclusion drawn is that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted, indicating that there is a positive and significant influence between variables X and Y.

Abstract

Libraries are valuable assets in the acquisition of knowledge, but often individuals, especially students, face "library anxiety", which creates feelings of tension, fear, and helplessness while in the library. This condition is common and can hinder academic performance. This study aims to determine the factors of Library Anxiety and library programs as an effort to overcome Library Anxiety at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Library Center Jakarta, using Constance Mellon's Library Anxiety Theory. The method used in this research is a qualitative method with a case study approach. Data collection techniques were conducted through interviews, observation, documentation and literature review. The results showed that factors cause Library Anxiety at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Library Center Jakarta, including the size of the library building. These users need to learn where library services and facilities are, how to start activities in the library and what can be done there. To overcome this, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Library Center has several library programs, including Library orientation, information guidance, library program socialization, and information literacy workshops. This research contributes to library and information science by identifying the causes of Library Anxiety and analyzing the programs implemented to overcome this anxiety at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Library Center Jakarta. The results of this study can assist libraries and information managers in developing more effective strategies to support users and overcome the challenges of Library Anxiety.
