Abstract

The sustainable management of mangrove ecotourism requires generating additional income for its managers. One potential strategy is batik training using mangrove ecosystem motifs. On September 15, 2024, a batik training session was conducted for tour guides and managers of the Mangrove Cisiu Eco-Education Park, located in Pangkah Kulon Village, Gresik. The event was attended by 10 participants and was part of the Community Partnership Program (PKM) titled "Empowering Mangrove Managers through Eco-tourism Package Programs as Income Generating for the Sustainability of Mangrove Edupark Management on Cisiu Island", funded by DRTPM Kemendikbudristek. The training was led by Ms. Maria Cecilia, owner of Sanggar Lembayung Batik, who has extensive experience in teaching batik to various communities. Participants learned the basic techniques of batik-making, featuring motifs inspired by the mangrove ecosystem, such as Glodong fish, crabs, and mangrove trees. The training included canting techniques, wax application, and dyeing with synthetic batik dyes. In addition to technical skills, participants gained insight into the potential of batik as a creative economic product that can serve as an additional income source for ecotourism managers. This training aims to support the economic sustainability of the Mangrove Edupark Cisiu by developing high-value batik products, thus contributing to the preservation of the mangrove ecosystem through enhanced livelihoods for the local community.

Abstract

Squid is one of the leading export commodities whose potential availability is monitored by the government. This research aims to evaluate the status of squid utilization as a consideration for the sustainability of squid-based smoke processing businesses in Prigi Regency. The analysis used in this research is Gordon-Scheafer bioeconomics. The fishing gear used to catch squid includes 1-boat ring seine, 2-boat ring seine, gill net, paying, trolling line and hand line. The average production of squid commodities from 2014-2022 is 26,396 kg, with a standard effort of 340 yearly trips. Prigi PPN squid fishing activities are economic and biological overfishing because the real average fishing effort exceeds the sum of MEY and MSY efforts. The level of squid utilization tends to approach over-exploited and exceeds 17.5% of the allowable catch. This condition can affect the fulfilment of production needs for processed squid smoke.

Abstract

Introduction: Diversification of processed seaweed products aims to respond to changes in consumer preferences, reach a broader market, and reduce the risk of dependence on one particular product type. In addition, product diversification can also be a practical innovation in increasing public interest in fishery products. One is the Ora Food MSMEs Yogyakarta, which is in the form of seaweed chips. Business feasibility is needed in a company's progress, and it is an analysis carried out on agencies on a particular project to provide direction as to whether investment in the project is feasible or not. Therefore, this study aims to analyze financial feasibility and business sensitivity in Ora Food MSMEs. Methods: Profitability analysis (BEP, profit, R/C and RTC), financial feasibility (NPV, B/C, IRR and PP) and business sensitivity analysis. Results: Profitability analysis, namely BEP sales of Rp. 119,324,566 or selling as many as 6,609 pcs with the product that must be sold the most on the regular spicy seaweed chips product (BEPq KRLBP )  a total of 3,182 pcs R/C = 2.18 (>1), RTC = 95.42% (>6%) then financial feasibility is NPV = Rp. 747,908,878,- (NPV positive) Net B/C = 3.62 (>1) and IRR = 65% (>6%) and payback period = 1.65 years. Furthermore, the business sensitivity analysis uses three scenarios, namely (1) Costs increase (138%), benefits remain the same, (2) Costs remain the same, benefits decrease (41%), and (3) Costs increase (56%), Benefits decrease (31%). Conclusion: The results of the financial feasibility analysis show that the business is profitable in the short term and financially feasible. In the sensitivity analysis, it can be concluded that the company is quite sensitive if there is a decrease in benefits but is not sensitive to increasing costs. Therefore, sales are expected to be constant at current production or improved by using optimised social media online marketing to reach a larger market.
