Abstract

Karang Taruna is a community-based youth organization. Karang Taruna plays a strategic role in strengthening the character of young citizens at the village or sub-district level. This study aims to describe how Karang Taruna functions as a non-formal character education environment that supports the strengthening of civic engagement of young citizens. The method used is descriptive qualitative with data collection through observation, interviews, and documentation of Karang Taruna activities in Ngijo Village, Gunungpati, Semarang. The results show that Karang Taruna activities are able to facilitate the internalization of character values through direct experience, cross-age social interactions, and community-based leadership practices. In addition, Karang Taruna serves as a space for the actualization of the younger generation in solving local social problems, thereby fostering civic skills. This study confirms that Karang Taruna is an important instrument in national character education because it is able to integrate Pancasila values and the principles of civic engagement in the daily lives of young people.

Abstract

The Pancasila Laboratory is a strategic instrument in strengthening Pancasila values education through contextual, reflective, and experience-based learning for young citizens. Although its urgency is recognized, to date, there has been no standardization of conceptual, operational, or evaluative standards, even though its development is based on ideology. Standardization is needed not to impose uniform practices, but to provide a flexible, context-specific minimum quality framework that guarantees the function, process, and achievement of values. This study uses a qualitative, multi-case study design and a conceptual analysis of the Character Padepokan at UNNES, the Bhinneka Tunggal Ika Laboratory at SMK Negeri 1 Sambi, and the Pancasila Laboratory School by YPLP. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation. The results of the study show that there is no uniform national model, but laboratory practices have developed organically through an approach of experience, reflection, collective participation, and the formation of values through habit. The findings emphasize the need for a flexible and adaptive standardization framework to ensure consistency in quality and measurable outcomes. The integrated conceptual model offered has the potential to strengthen character education, civic engagement, and the sustainability of Pancasila ideology within the national education system.

Abstract

Fulfilling nutritional needs is a fundamental human right essential for achieving a healthy and prosperous life. In Cemoro Village, Temanggung Regency, some residents continue to consume Oyek, a traditional corn-based staple food, as part of their daily diet despite the increasing preference for rice due to its convenience. This study aims to analyze community perceptions of fulfilling food and nutrition rights through Oyek consumption and identify the social, cultural, and dietary factors influencing these perceptions. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed using interviews, observations, and documentation involving Oyek consumers, village officials, Posyandu cadres, and nutritionists. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model. The findings indicate that Oyek contributes to fulfilling nutritional needs and reflects local wisdom while supporting household food security. Community perceptions are shaped by sociological, anthropological, geographical, nutritional, and human rights perspectives, as well as local culture and generational differences. Based on Social Cognitive Theory, Oyek consumption results from interactions among personal, environmental, and behavioral factors. Older generations primarily maintain Oyek as a cultural heritage and energy source, whereas younger generations tend to consume it for health and dietary reasons. Overall, Oyek remains a valuable local food that supports nutrition, food security, and cultural preservation in rural communities.
