Abstract

Urban kampung is body and soul of Indonesia urban structure and life. It has vital roles for social, economy, and physical strategies, including a resilient city strategy. That is why kampung oriented development (KOD) would be inevitably an underlying model to bring kampung towards sustainable urban development. As an investigation step, it is important to assess their environmental performance conditions, using popular and leading sustainable building and assessment tools to measure the conditions of existing urban kampungs. (Comprehensive Assessment System for Building Environmental Efficiency for Urban Development)and LEED-ND (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design for Neighborhood Development) are chosen and applied to critically observe the kampung environment conditions comprehensively. Results showed in average that the urban kampungs in term of environmental performance based on both CASBEE-UD and LEED-ND category are still quite far from the ideal criteria. These results significantly steer a road map of strategies related to kampung oriented development (KOD).Keywords: compactness, kampung oriented development, CASBEE-UD, LEED-ND

Abstract

Purpose: The Community-Based Tourism (CBT) concept needs to be understood deeply. We need to know and predict the opportunities and challenges that exist and will occur in the future in developing the community and tourism as a mutualism. This research analyzed the theories to describe it and derive conclusions for the basic concepts of community-based tourism as well as further explore the cases of applying these concepts to gain opportunities and challenges from community-based tourismĀ  Research Methodology: This research utilizes a conceptual approach based on a literature review. It critically evaluates existing theories, findings, and case studies on CBT to derive insights into its principles, opportunities, and challenges. Results: The study identifies the significance of social and cultural capital in CBT, emphasizing community participation and ownership. It also discusses the benefits and challenges, including economic development, cultural preservation, and issues such as resource dependence and environmental impact. Conclusions: While CBT offers a sustainable alternative to mass tourism, its success requires effective planning, community involvement, and resource management. Future research should focus on overcoming existing challenges to enhance the sustainability of CBT. Limitations: This study is a secondary data-based analysis (literature review) on the concept of community-based tourism in the social and cultural context of the community, as well as the opportunities and challenges of its application to tourism development Contributions: This study provides an in-depth and comprehensive view of community-based tourism to assist in exploring approaches and theories in community-based tourism research and planning and policymaking in the tourism sector, especially in the local community aspect.

Abstract

Smart city mengintegrasikan masyarakat, pemerintah dan teknologi untuk mengatasi permasalahan perkotaan dan meningkatkan kesejahteraan masyarakat. Surakarta merupakan salah satu kota di Indonesia yang mengimplementasikan smart city, termasuk smart governance. Pada tahun 2017, tingkat maturitas smart city di Kota Surakarta berada pada tingkat scattering yang menunjukkan belum adanya integrasi dalam berbagai implementasi smart city. Identifikasi tingkat maturitas tiap dimensi smart city merupakan cerminan kualitas hidup, semakin matang implementasi tiap dimensi smart city maka semakin baik kualitas seluruh aspek kehidupan masyarakat di kota tersebut. Penelitian ini menjelaskan mengenai tingkat maturitas dimensi smart governance di Kota Surakarta dan mengidentifikasi faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi tingkat maturitas smart governance di Kota Surakarta. Sasaran penelitian pertama menggunakan data sekunder data instansi terkait dan studi literatur dengan teknik analisis data kualitatif pemaknaan data dan kuantitatif skoring. Sasaran penelitian kedua menggunakan data primer berupa penyebaran kuesioner kepada 17 instansi dengan teknik analisis skoring. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan tingkat maturitas dimensi smart governance di Kota Surakarta mengalami kenaikan tingkat maturitas scattered tahun 2018 menjadi integrated tahun 2019 hingga 2020. Faktor yang memiliki persentase pengaruh terbesar pada dimensi smart governance adalah faktor program-program yang berkelanjutan.
