Abstract

Our research aims to find out the problems experienced by students and lecturers in the implementation of online learning, during the Covid-19 pandemic and efforts to overcome styles in universities. Qualitative descriptive approaches and exploratory case studies were used to collect data from students and lecturers at the State Islamic University of Walisongo Indonesia. This study shows that the implementation of online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic has led to changes in the learning system that have led to a new lecture paradigm that can be highlighted in four sub-scales including the level of saturation, seriousness and participation in learning, learning motivation, and the level of intellectual satisfaction. Meanwhile, the efforts made by lecturers in overcoming this problem are by maximizing the use of learning technology tools, modifying certain learning methods such as project based learning, integrated curriculum, and blended learning. This study contributes to research on pedagogy and online learning by clarifying the role of lecturers in finding problem solving problems faced by students.

Abstract

The websites of NU and Muhammadiyah effectively reconcile religious beliefs with the practicalities of government policies during the pandemic. These organizations have crafted legal frameworks that streamline religious rituals amidst COVID-19 restrictions and containment measures. This study explores how their discourse promotes a harmonious fusion of religious and state values, particularly within organizations known for their moderate approach to religious matters. Utilizing discursive practice and discourse analysis, the study reveals that both NU and Muhammadiyah establish pandemic-specific worship guidelines aligned with government policies. While NU's approach relies on classical Fiqh arguments, Muhammadiyah adopts a more pragmatic and progressive stance. Nevertheless, both organizations share the common goal of ensuring ease and accessibility for the public to practice their faith during these challenging times. This facilitation, grounded in sound reasoning, incorporates adaptations to state policies when selecting thematic approaches. This alignment highlights that NU and Muhammadiyah's moderation concept not only considers the applicability of religious texts to local circumstances but also supports government initiatives aimed at public welfare and addressing the COVID-19 crisis.

Abstract

This paper aims to analyze the virtual da'wa laboratory of Walisongo TV (WTV) and MBS FM owned by the Faculty of Da’wa and Communication, UIN Walisongo Semarang in nurturing Islamic moderatism during Ramadan 2020 amid the Covid-19 Pandemic. This research is a qualitative study using the New Media and Religion approach from Cambpbell (2010) who stated that there are two important objects regarding online religion, namely the technical aspects of new media, and the non-technical aspects related to three things, namely the community, authority, and textual media. The study concludes that first, technically WTV and MBS uses new media such as WhatsApp, Instagram, YouTube, Jitsi.meet, and Zoom meeting for all activities, starting from the internal crew's coordination; communication between crews and da’i in discussing da’wa contents; videos taking process; production activities, to promotions and publications. Second, non-technically WTV and MBS FM provide the products in the form of recordings and LIVE (live broadcast). The products represent the Islamic moderate community behind the media authorized by Nadlatul Ulama (NU) da’wa ideology. Hence, media text broadcasted is framed by the jargon “Islam Rahmatan li al-‘Alamin” based on the classical Islamic texts (Kitab Kuning). This suggests that community, authority, and textual media have to be taken into account in forming a virtual moderate da’wa laboratory.

The relationship between management as an important element in educational management with strategy as a way of implementing management has a close relationship. As a unified system, strategic management is indispensable in helping to implement an independent curriculum. The transformation of the implementation of the previous curriculum with the independent curriculum currently implemented by the government has quite specific developments. The use of technology, varied teaching materials and various methods that must be learned well by teachers today.  This study aims to examine teachers' strategic management in dealing with the "Independent Curriculum" in Junior High School (SMP) at Hasanuddin 6 Semarang Junior High School and analyze the obstacles that exist in implementing the "Independent Curriculum". This research is descriptive research with a qualitative approach. Data collection is done through observation, interview and documentation techniques. The data collected was then analyzed qualitatively in three stages; data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing. The results showed that there are important things that must be prepared in implementing an independent curriculum at school. Based on the results of the research, strategic management needs to pay attention to 3 aspects, how to plan, provisions in implementation and evaluation forms in an independent curriculum.  As an educational institution that carries out its functions systematically, the most effective form of evaluation is by paying attention to planning, organizing and implementing to minimize failure.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of using natural language processing (NLP)-based generative artificial intelligence on 21st century teaching skills. This research is quantitative in nature using the simple linear regression analysis method. The research sample consisted of 270 students at Walisongo State Islamic University Semarang. The main focus of this study was to explore the relationship between the use of NLP-based generative AI and four 21st century skills, namely critical thinking, problem solving, collaboration, and communication. The results of the statistical analysis showed that the use of this AI had a significant influence on all four skills. Collaboration (Y3) is the skill most influenced by AI with a P-value of 0.000 and a t-count of 4.36, indicating that AI strengthens individuals' ability to cooperate and coordinate in teams. Critical thinking (Y1) ranked second with a P-value of 0.001 and a t-count of 3.47, indicating that AI promotes analytical and evaluative skills. Problem solving (Y2) also showed a significant effect with a P-value of 0.001 and a t-count of 3.41, indicates that AI helps in finding innovative and effective solutions to complex problems. Meanwhile, communication (Y4) was the least influenced skill, with a P-value of 0.005 and a t-count of 2.83, although it remained significant. The results of this study confirm that AI plays an important role in improving 21st century skills, especially in the aspect of collaboration, followed by improvements in critical thinking, problem solving, and communication. This study contributes to convincing the positive role of AI in improving students' skills in the digital era.

Abstract

This study investigates the implementation model of cultural diversity education within the  "Islam and Religious Moderation" courses in Islamic higher education institutions. The  increasing urgency to foster inclusive and tolerant attitudes among students in response to  plural religious and cultural realities drives the research. Positioned within the broader  discourse on religious moderation and educational transformation, this study seeks to explore  how pedagogical strategies can cultivate intercultural understanding grounded in Islamic  values. Employing a qualitative narrative inquiry approach, data were collected through  interviews, focus group discussions, and classroom observations, then analyzed using the  Clandinin three-phase model of filtering, grouping, and interpreting narrative data. The  findings reveal a three-stage implementation model: (1) building a comprehensive  understanding of religious moderation concepts contextualized in global and local frameworks;  (2) linking conceptual knowledge to lived experiences through reflective and dialogical  learning; and (3) promoting moderate behavior via project-based learning, guided discussions,  and critical engagement with case studies. The study concludes that integrating cultural  diversity into Islamic religious education can effectively reinforce students' inclusive religious  worldviews and foster mutual respect in campus life and society. These findings offer  pedagogical insights for embedding religious moderation into the curriculum as a  transformative force for pluralistic coexistence.
