Abstract

Coffee has transformed into a lifestyle for their lovers, and they can sip it anytime when they want. Coffee connoisseurs are hunting for local coffee. They are no longer looking for well-known brands that have been present for a long time. This situation opens up an opportunity for the local coffee industry to evolve. Located on the slopes of Mount Kawi, the Babadan village area settles the proper location to carry out this strategy. The agroforestry system combines the production of pinewood plants and coffee plants. Improving the quality of coffee plants is an ongoing effort to improve the quality or quality of coffee bean products. Increasing the advantages of coffee beans can be done through several approaches: intensification of coffee plants, rehabilitation of coffee plants, and rejuvenation of coffee plants. The output of this approach is expected to increase the income potential of local coffee farmers. Through this community service activity, training and assistance to local farmers to improve farmers' knowledge and skills about good and correct coffee plant care.

Abstract

Sambirejo Village in Rejoso District, Pasuruan Regency, experiences major challenges in household waste management due to population growth and increased economic activities. This program addressed these challenges by improving environmental quality and community welfare. The main objective was to empower residents through capacity-building sessions on waste sorting, composting, and using Lumbricus Rubellus worms and Black Soldier Fly (BSF) maggots for organic waste reduction. Program implementation began with a survey identifying community needs, followed by workshops and hands-on training emphasising participatory methods. These sessions introduced the principles of 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle), home-scale composting, and the formation of community-based waste management groups. Results indicated a notable increase in public awareness regarding proper waste disposal, a decline in illegal dumping sites, and broader adoption of organic waste processing technologies. Although the community’s improved understanding of waste segregation and composting reflected a positive shift in behaviour, limited facilities and varying levels of commitment continued to pose challenges. Overall, this initiative highlights the effectiveness of a collaborative and community-driven approach in addressing waste management issues. Sustained government support, academic engagement, and strong community participation are vital to ensure the long-term impact of these efforts and provide a practical model for other villages facing similar environmental problems.

Abstract

Uncontrolled household waste management is an environmental problem that harms public health and ecosystem balance. The circular aquaponics-based organic waste management program in Sambirejo Village aims to reduce environmental pollution and improve community welfare through a sustainable approach. The program is conducted through socialization, technical training, and pilot project construction. The implementation results showed that community awareness of the importance of organic waste management increased significantly. The aquaponic system implemented allows the utilization of organic waste as a source of nutrients for plants and fish in a closed ecosystem, thus reducing dependence on chemical fertilizers and minimizing waste. In addition to providing a positive environmental impact, the program also contributes to improving the community’s economy by harvesting fish and vegetables that can be consumed by themselves or sold. The sustainability evaluation shows that most program participants are committed to developing the system independently, with ongoing technical support and mentoring. This program proves that a community-based approach to organic waste management can be an innovative solution and can be replicated in other areas with similar problems.

Abstract

Dark patterns, manipulative interface strategies that steer users toward actions contrary to their interests, have become ingrained in commerce, social media, and data‑collection flows. Research and regulation still lack a shared vocabulary for identifying and addressing them. This study aims to close that gap by proposing a comprehensive conceptual definition and a reconciled taxonomic map that clarifies how dark patterns operate and why they negatively impact users. Based on a directed literature review of 54 peer‑reviewed sources indexed in Scopus, the analysis identifies four foundational elements: manipulative intent, information asymmetry, constrained choice, and exploitation of cognitive bias. It combines them into a single definition that unites legal, psychological, and HCI perspectives. It then cross‑compares the leading taxonomies of Brignull et al., Grey et al., Mathur et al., and Zagal et al., demonstrating agreement on five mechanism families, namely Obstruction, Sneaking, Interface Interference, Forced Action, Nagging, while highlighting differing focuses on functional harms. To address this issue, the article introduces a two‑dimensional grid that overlays those mechanisms with four functional areas: Finance, Privacy, Time Capture, and Psychological Pressure, creating a flexible framework capable of classifying both traditional and emerging dark‑pattern strategies. The resulting model offers scholars a stable analytical framework for theory building, supplies regulators with enforceable categories for consumer protection, and equips designers with a diagnostic tool for auditing interface ethics. The study establishes a conceptual foundation for future empirical measurement, automated detection, and evidence‑based policy to foster a more transparent and autonomy‑respecting digital ecosystem by unifying disparate definitions and rationalizing taxonomies.
